Umi Kitchen—Sushi-Bubble Tea

Very much enjoy the boba drinks here at Umi! They’re a good size, are tasty & are well-priced. The food is fresh & tasty as well. Food sensitivities need to be stated UPFRONT. Pls Note: Was told that almost everything has ‘a little bit of flour’ on it, except for the tofu. So for the GF crew, be mindful. They do Hibachi here too for $12.50.

I ordered on grub hub, delivery was really fast. I got the American dream roll which was very good. I asked for the bubble tea to have no added sugar and no ice but it was delivered the opposite. The boba are stale and hard. The California roll I spit out as soon as I bit into it. And had to throw out the whole roll. The imitation crab was BAD and warm. The whole roll was warm. California roll is normally cold. I will not order again. Also ordering on grub hub adds so many fees it costed me $40 for 1 special roll and 1 California and bubble tea. Ridiculous.

Stopped by for some takeout before heading back to Brooklyn and was presently surprised. The shop is no frills basic Chinese and Japanese takeout. The restaurant was clean, service was friendly and pretty quick. Food was descent for takeout Chinese food, though the sushi was just fine. The combination dish that I got reminded me of late night college life a night after drinking and grabbing some quick fast Chinese food.

I use to live at 66 Rutgers, Umi was the best place for Sushi. Every evening after school, me and ma would spend our money on Sushi. I always get Spicy Crab Meat and it was perfect. It’s not too spicy but was just enough to satisfy your taste buds. The atmosphere was calm and collected, unless you place an order ahead of time, it can take about 30 minutes, but for me, the wait was worth it. In fact, for how long I went there for sushi, I forgot they also served wings. I didn’t get them personally, but I heard great things about them. If you’re in the area of Bayonne, this is a definite must see

I thought I’d give them a review bc I LOVE their bubble tea. Although a little too sweet, still so good!!! I always go here with my husband to get bubble tea and will sometimes order their sushi (which is also really good)! Definitely recommend!
