Customer Reviews
Absolutely Delicious – Highly Recommended! We had an amazing experience at Ugly Dumplings! From start to finish, the service was excellent—Dexter took great care of us and made sure everything was just right. We ordered a variety of dishes: the Chicken Soup Dumpling, Braised Beef Noodle Soup, String Beans with Garlic, Spicy Chicken Wontons, Chicken Dumpling, and Fried Chicken Dumpling. Every single item was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The balance of spice, texture, and freshness was spot on. This place is a gem and great addition to Richmond restaurants. Great food, attentive service, and a warm atmosphere. Highly recommended—we’ll definitely be back!
We came here for linner around 3-4 PM. Our server, Elise, was friendly/ helpful and answered our questions. The food didn’t take long to come out despite it being pretty full. There’s a glass window where you can see the dumplings being made which is cool. I enjoyed the dumplings, but I especially loved the Rangoon and the shrimp noodles. The drinks were surprisingly good too which were the strawberry crème & honey lemonade. Great place to come for lunch or dinner with reasonable prices.
My husband and I came specifically for dumplings. Original wait for a table was about 30 minutes so be prepared. Once we sat, the server was quick with getting our order in. 2/3 dumplings came out quickly. I think there may be an issue with runners delivering the right food but we absolutely didn't hold that against them. The server was incredibly apologetic and so friendly. Honestly, the dumplings were worth it in our opinion. We'd be interested to come back and try other dumpling offerings.
Went with a party of eight for the first time. Be aware they do not take reservations so there will be more than likely a way. I found pricing to be very reasonable and the food to be above average. They keep the menu fairly simple so they're able to get food out to you fairly quickly. Here's the bad part. Service was horrific. I do not know if it's that they haven't been open that long or what have you. They screwed up my wife's drink three separate times she finally gave up and just ordered a beer. My friend ordered a $14 dollar glass of wine and it had like 3 oz in it. She sent it back and asked for more wine they told her no. My wife loves soup dumplings and thought they were amazing. What highly recommend going to just be aware that they're having some service issues.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere and dinner. Service was pleasant + efficient. Prices are, overall, reasonable. The cocktail list is a bit pricier, though that seems to be on par with most places around Richmond. It would be nice to see a happy hour or specials list eventually come out. The food was excellent. The soup dumplings + green tea noodles with sesame sauce were the favorites.
