Ugly Dumpling Express

Best popcorn chicken! It's definitely worth a try. The food is great, though it has the takeout/fast food style like Panda Express. Overall, it is a great spot if you are craving some quick Chinese food.

Food was great and came out about 10 minutes after ordering on kiosk. This was 1st visit. Had I not gone with a friend I would have been clueless on what to order and how to navigate ordering as the person working the register never even acknowledged us as we entered. I noticed the same with about 6 groups of people while we were waiting. All but 1 group left. The waiting area was full, with no guidance to show guests to kiosks or no employee acknowledging they were even there.

For a place geared towards fast Chinese food, the quality is rather good. We ordered the combo with popcorn chicken, spicy wonton and egg rolls, plus a soup dumpling sampler and the taro creme drink. The popcorn chicken is equivalent to Taiwanese fried chicken I've gotten at other places but with a more muted five spice and pepper taste. The soup dumplings are what I'd expect and the taro creme tastes a bit like taro milk tea but I think a bit less drink for the cost. They delivered the food pretty quickly and overall we enjoyed it. We'll visit again.

Tried this place during the first week of their opening and I must say it’s a very cute place. Loved the ambiance. I ordered the chicken soups dumplings, they tasted great but hardly had any soup in them. I also ordered the Brown sugar boba and that was amazing. The boba were fresh. 2nd visit - this time the soup dumplings did not disappoint. Tasted very good. Of course had to order the brown sugar boba. The chicken dumplings were decent. 3rd visit- this time with the fam. We tried some new items, the popcorn chicken which was good. The shrimp stir fried noodles were not great. The soup dumplings were on point. Will definitely keep coming back for the soup dumplings. Only good ones in Frederick area.

After eating at K-Pot I decided to checkout Ugly Dumpling which is right next door. This place reminds me of Jollibee’s in a way, and was quite clean inside. From being full at K-Pot I decided to get a Boba Tea. I thought I was going to get a smoothie Boba Tea, but they only had regular variations. I order the Ice Sweet Crème Matcha and it wasn’t bad. The drink is not something I would get again. I love matcha but this Boba was a little bland. I would definitely checkout their combos. The selection looked really good! I’m glad I tried this place.
