About Twin Colony Diner & Restaurant

Twin Colony Diner & Restaurant, located at 417 E Elm St, Torrington, CT 06790, USA (phone: (860) 482-5346, mobile: +1 860-482-5346), is presented under the platform category of Chinese Restaurant. However, customer reviews indicate it operates as a traditional diner offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Environment: Information about the specific ambiance or decor of the diner is not detailed in the provided reviews. However, the mention of it being a "favorite breakfast spot" suggests a comfortable and likely casual diner atmosphere.

Services: Twin Colony Diner & Restaurant is praised for its excellent service, particularly during breakfast. They offer endless coffee, a common perk in diners. While one review mentions a negative experience with a dinner order missing items (bread and butter, vegetables), the staff did attempt to rectify the situation by providing extra chicken, albeit of very small size.

Features: The diner is known as a great spot for breakfast, with a recommendation for the Twin Colony Deluxe breakfast with pancakes. The prices are considered reasonable. However, recent feedback on the chicken fried dinner ($19.99) highlights significant issues with portion sizes (chicken outweighed by fries, with most pieces being very small), missing components (no bread and butter, no vegetables), and a perceived decline in food quality (pancakes tasting like cardboard). The owner's response to the complaint about the chicken portion was that "they come in like that," which the reviewer found unsatisfactory given the price.

Promotional Information: The review mentioning "endless coffee" during breakfast could be considered an ongoing promotion or a standard offering. No other specific promotions or discounts are mentioned in the provided feedback. Local users might find their breakfast offerings appealing based on the positive review, but should be aware of the reported issues with the chicken fried dinner.

In summary, Twin Colony Diner & Restaurant in Torrington, CT, despite its platform categorization, is a diner that is well-regarded as a breakfast spot, offering good food at reasonable prices with excellent service and endless coffee. However, recent experiences with their dinner menu, specifically the chicken fried dinner, indicate significant problems with portion size and missing items, as well as a perceived decline in the quality of other items like pancakes. Local users seeking a good breakfast might find this diner a suitable option, but should exercise caution when ordering the chicken fried dinner based on recent negative feedback.

I used to be a regular here and unfortunately after this I just cannot support a place who think this is just okay. I ordered a chicken fried dinner meal for $19.99 it was supposed to come with bread and butter, veggies, side salad and fries... I wanted the salad with no onions, came with onions okay no biggie just picked them off, no bread and butter and no vegetables there's worse things I can be mad at so shrugged it off. Now this is when I became upset! When the French fries basically out weighed my chicken, had one regular piece of chicken and the rest were about the size of my pinky. I was mad then laughed and said what am I 5 or am I on portion control here. Yes I complained the owner said they come in like that! So you know about the situation and charging $20 for this, it would be perfect for a child's menu but not for adults, they made extra chicken for me and I just told them to just put it in a to go container. Before we left I checked it they made me chicken that was smaller then my pinky and I honestly didn't think that was possible. Before leaving the manager did admit it's not a popular item and again charging $20 for it, ashamed of the dinner but not too ashamed to take your money. They used to have wonder food here, the chicken used to make you full. The Pancakes taste like cardboard now, so sad this place is going down hill. We won't be back

All I can address is to go for the most part as for the most part u order from twinco delivery. That said there's not a place in town that makes a better French onion soup nor stuffed mushrooms and I think after living here my whole life I've tried both these items at most places. I just wanted to give them 5 stars on both as it's my go to at least once a week of one of them. As far as atmosphere it's been a minute since I've gone into eat but I've always had great service with smiles and honestly I hope they never change the decor as the table side jukeboxes are priceless. Anyways I just think that most people wouldn't expect such great seafood stuffed mushrooms or an obviously homemade French onion soup to be 5 stars at a local diner but that said Twin colony is def a go to if you love either of these items. Stuffed grape leaves are excellent as well but are pricey ( Dolmas?). At every restaurant so I try to purchase them in grocery stores /Amazon but I've yet to find any as good as the Nader family's homemade ones or twin colony's. lol. Enjoy!

This place is sort of a life saver. Traveling tired and hungry, it hit the spot. Then, I need a quick nutritional meal for a sick elderly friend. When he heard Shepards Pie was on the specials menu- he sounded excited. He enjoyed it so much! It made us both happy. Hence, life saver.

I don't know why I love this diner so much. Good food good vibes good service. I used to spend a lot of time here in college and hadn't been back in years, but it's just as cozy and welcoming a decade later. Never had a complaint.
