About Tsing Tao

Welcome to Tsing Tao Chinese Restaurant, a delightful culinary destination situated at 15525 Los Gatos Blvd in the charming town of Los Gatos, California (95032, USA). For local residents seeking a Chinese restaurant that offers more than just the standard fare, Tsing Tao presents a unique and satisfying dining experience. Based on customer reviews, this establishment stands out for its fresh and flavorful dishes, generous portions, and a few unexpected touches that leave a lasting positive impression.

One of the most distinctive features of Tsing Tao, as highlighted by a pleasantly surprised first-time visitor, is the complimentary starter of hot tea and a plate of homemade kimchi. This unexpected offering sets Tsing Tao apart from many other Chinese restaurants in the area. The reviewer was particularly impressed with the kimchi, describing it as "one of the best I've ever had" and attributing its quality to its homemade nature, noting the excellent texture and freshness of the cabbage. The fact that a server confirmed its homemade origin further underscores the restaurant's commitment to preparing certain elements from scratch, suggesting a dedication to quality and authenticity.

Beyond the unique starter, Tsing Tao's main courses have also garnered positive attention. The beef and broccoli, a classic Chinese dish, received high praise. The reviewer specifically commended the broccoli for being "cooked perfectly al dente and hot as it should be!" and the beef for being both "tender and flavorful." This attention to detail in the preparation of even familiar dishes indicates a kitchen that values proper cooking techniques and taste.

The vegetable chow mein also left a positive impression, being described as "very good and flavorful for just being a vegetable chow mein." This suggests that even their vegetarian options are well-executed and satisfying, catering to a broader range of dietary preferences. The overall sentiment of this reviewer, who even mentioned the drive from Gilroy, emphasizes the quality of the food at Tsing Tao, making it a worthwhile destination even for those residing outside of Los Gatos.

Another customer highlighted the "great portions for a decent price," indicating that Tsing Tao offers good value for the amount of food served. This is an important consideration for many diners, and the positive feedback in this regard suggests that customers feel they are getting a substantial meal without breaking the bank.

Among the specific dishes mentioned, the "shrimp fried rice" was noted as being "particularly good," further solidifying Tsing Tao's ability to deliver on classic Chinese favorites. However, not all dishes received universal acclaim. The "chili prawn" was described as "a little too sweet" and potentially mistakable for a dessert, suggesting that some dishes might lean towards a sweeter flavor profile that may not appeal to all palates. This honest feedback is valuable for potential customers to consider their own taste preferences when making menu choices.

The "hot and sour soup" at Tsing Tao was lauded as "a harmonious blend of spicy and tangy flavors," indicating a well-balanced and flavorful rendition of this popular soup. This positive feedback suggests that Tsing Tao pays attention to creating nuanced and satisfying flavors in their soups as well.

In terms of service, one reviewer noted that the "service is great," contributing to a positive overall dining experience. Additionally, Tsing Tao offers a thoughtful complimentary amenity: "free jasmine tea with meals." This gesture adds to the value and enhances the dining experience, providing a traditional and aromatic beverage to accompany the meal.

Regarding the environment of the restaurant, one reviewer mentioned that "The place is well lit," suggesting a bright and welcoming atmosphere. While this is the only direct comment on the ambiance, a well-lit space generally contributes to a comfortable and pleasant dining setting. Further details about the decor or overall atmosphere are not provided in the available reviews.

I was pleasantly surprised with Tsing Tao. They started me off with hot tea and a plate of kimchi. The kimchi was done of the best I've ever had and figured it had to be homemade due to texture and freshness of the cabbage. I asked a server, and she confirmed it was homemade. The soup was very good. But I was very impressed with the beef and broccoli. The broccoli was cooked perfectly al dente and hot as it should be ! The beef was tender and flavorful. The chow mein was very good and flavorful for just being a vegetable chow mein. Everything was very good, if you live in this area make sure you come eat here !! I love in Gilroy, so it's a ways for me to drive.

This place serves great portions for a decent price. The shrimp fried rice is particularly good. The chili prawn is a little too sweet, and can be mistaken for a dessert. The hot and sour soup is a harmonious blend of spicy and tangy flavors. They also offer free jasmine tea with meals. The place is well lit, and service is great.

Tsing Tao is a typical Chinese restaurant. It's a local spot with a big menu. They make their noodles by hand, which is why I gave them 4 stars instead of 3. The flavors are decent, and the service was good. The beef and chicken soups tasted fresh, and the portions were huge. The kids especially loved the noodles in the soups.

Quiet spot in a medium size plaza with plenty of parking. The price is competitive but the portions are large and the quantity of meat is awesome. Staff is polite and food was served hot and fresh.

I watched the ‘Coming Soon’ phase of Tsing Tao while they were decking it out and made a mental note to check it out once they opened. My personal issue with Chinese restaurants around here is that they are either too expensive, too plush, or too dirty with food that isn’t very good. Add to the fact that there are plenty of Asian food restaurants here that are excellent, Japanese and Thai mostly. I have never had a Chinese restaurant that had excellent food in a clean environment that didn’t break the bank until Tsing Tao opened! I’ve yet to have a bad meal there. The food is always fresh, not smothered is sauce, and not super expensive. My favorite is their Sweet & Sour Chicken lunch special with fried rice. PERFECT every time. I have a Chinese restaurant now.
