About Triumph Valley Shoreline
Located at 15323 Westminster Way N in Shoreline, Washington, Triumph Valley Shoreline is a recent addition to the Chinese Restaurant category, generating considerable anticipation due to the positive reputation of its Renton location. This new establishment offers a range of Chinese cuisine, with a particular emphasis on dim sum, which is available during breakfast and lunch hours. While the restaurant has been commended for its friendly service and the taste of its food, early customer experiences indicate some operational challenges that potential diners should be aware of.
Several reviewers have highlighted the exceptional friendliness of the service staff at Triumph Valley Shoreline. Customers have observed that the team is working diligently and as quickly as possible, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere. This dedication to customer service is a significant strength of the restaurant and suggests a sincere effort to provide a pleasant dining experience.
However, a recurring theme in the feedback is the issue of long wait times, particularly during peak hours. One customer reported waiting over an hour for a table on a Sunday noon, indicating high demand. Additionally, there have been reports of slow food delivery to tables, with one party having to cancel items due to the extended wait. This suggests that the kitchen or the overall operational flow may still be experiencing some inefficiencies as the restaurant settles into its new location.
Another area of concern raised by multiple reviewers is the functionality of the tablet-based ordering system. While one customer appreciated the concept of the system, there have been instances of miscommunication leading to food items not being registered or brought out to tables. This issue appears to have affected multiple parties, contributing to the long wait times as diners sit waiting for missing dishes. Addressing these technical and procedural challenges with the ordering system seems crucial for improving the overall customer experience.
In terms of the food itself, the general consensus is that the dishes ordered were good, with no specific complaints about the taste. Several dim sum items were sampled, including sui mai, shrimp balls, tripe, sticky rice, truffle Xiao Long Bao, meat ball, and an eggplant/shrimp dish. While these were described as "fine" and "good," one reviewer noted that nothing was particularly spectacular and that the food was not served piping hot, which was a disappointment for their preference for very hot dim sum. This suggests that while the flavors may be satisfactory, there might be room for improvement in the temperature and perhaps the distinctiveness of some dishes to truly meet high expectations.
Despite some of the less favorable feedback on specific dim sum items, there were also highlights. The Portuguese egg tart and the matcha custard bun were both praised as good. Additionally, the rice roll with chicken feet and ribs was particularly enjoyed by one reviewer and their children, indicating that some dishes are indeed hitting the mark with customers.
The portion sizes were generally described as reasonable, which is an important factor for diners considering the value proposition. While the hype surrounding the restaurant, possibly stemming from the success of the Renton location, may have set high expectations for some, the initial experiences at the Shoreline branch suggest that it is still in the process of working out its operational kinks.
For local users in Shoreline, Triumph Valley presents an opportunity to try a new Chinese restaurant with a focus on dim sum. The friendly service is a significant plus, and the positive comments on the taste of the food indicate potential for a satisfying meal. However, it's advisable to be aware of the potential for long wait times, especially during busy periods, and the possibility of issues with the tablet ordering system. Customers might also want to specify their preference for the temperature of their food when ordering.
Given the feedback, it might be prudent for local users to consider visiting during off-peak hours, such as weekdays, to potentially avoid the longer wait times experienced on weekends. As the restaurant is new, there is optimism among reviewers that they will be able to resolve the current service and operational challenges over time. One reviewer explicitly stated their intention to return after allowing some time for these issues to be addressed.
In summary, Triumph Valley Shoreline offers friendly service and tasty food, particularly some of its dim sum items like the Portuguese egg tart, matcha custard bun, and rice rolls. However, potential customers should be prepared for possible long wait times and the risk of ordering system errors, especially during peak hours. As the restaurant matures, it is hoped that these initial challenges will be overcome, allowing the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff to shine through and meet the high expectations set by its established reputation. Customer Reviews
I’ve heard such good things about the Renton location; so we were so excited to hear it was opening up a little closer to where we live. We finally got to try it out! It was just okay….they’re probably still working out the kinks. Service was very friendly! We saw that everyone was working very hard and as quickly as they could. But the food just came out really slowly. We had to cancel a couple items just because we didn’t want to wait any longer and were basically full from what we got. Food was fine. Some dishes came out lukewarm. We like our dim sum; and any food for that matter, very hot. None of it seemed very hot. As much hype as we heard about this place, it didn’t really meet our expectations. We got sui mai, shrimp balls, tripe, sticky rice, this truffle Xiao Long Bao, meat ball, eggplant/shrimp dish. All were just okay and nothing spectacular. For the wait and hype; probably not worth it. But we’ll probably come back later after, hopefully, they work out their service issues.
So, let's break down this review into separate categories. Food and prices: As far as food, what we ordered and tried were all good. No complaints on food. Portuguese egg tart is good, so is their matcha custard bun. Portion sizes was reasonable. We enjoyed the rice roll with chicken feet and ribs the most and kids liked them as well. Service: People are nice. They brought out things we need and the tea pretty quick. I like their ordering system if it actually works flawlessly as intended. Wait time: When we were there, the wait time was crazy long to get a seat and we know why. We waited over an hour on Sunday noon. When people order from the tablet, there's some miscommunication and some food items doesn't get registered and is not brought out. It seems to happen to a lot of table, it happened to the 3 table around me and my table too. So when people sit around waiting for food that doesn't come, the waiting time gets long and the wait-list for people coming in also gets backed up. I will still come back since the food is good, but we'll be more aware of the wait time and come on a weekday to see if it's any better. Remember that dim sum is offered only for breakfast/lunch time, and not on dinner.
Just came back from the soft opening and this is the best dim sum in North Seattle hands down!! Every dish we had was flavorful and fresh without being salty or overpowering. The interior is also well-updated with nice lighting, seating, and even background music. The service was amazing despite the lunch rush on the first day--multiple wait staff checked on us and were very polite and courteous. Plenty of street parking in the lot, but get here early because there was a line forming at the door by 10:45am. We're excited to go back and try each dish during future visits!
We came here on a Sunday around noon, hoping to avoid the morning rush. It took about an hour to get seated, which we didn’t mind. What caught us off guard, though, was how slowly the dishes came out. There were such long gaps between each item that we ended up feeling full just from snacking on the same two dishes and sipping tea. It seemed like both the kitchen and waitstaff were severely understaffed. Unfortunately, I’m not sure we’ll be back—spending three hours on what should’ve been a simple Sunday dim sum outing just didn’t feel worth it, even though the food itself was good.
The first Triumph Valley was very well done, with delicious food. However, this new branch has just opened, so things might not be fully in place yet. We went for dinner, so there was no dim sum available. Some dishes, like fried rice and soup, were a bit bland, and the food was quite slow compared to typical Chinese restaurants. However, overall, the service was excellent.
