About Triple Eight's Express and Szechwan Style
Welcome to Triple Eight's Express and Szechwan Style, a Chinese restaurant located at 1710 S Kansas Expy in Springfield, Missouri. Operating under the platform category of Chinese Restaurants, Triple Eight's Express and Szechwan Style indicates a focus on both express service and the distinctive flavors of Szechwan cuisine. Szechwan cuisine is known for its bold and spicy flavors, often featuring the unique numbing sensation from Sichuan peppercorns. This establishment aims to bring the authentic taste of Szechwan to the Springfield area, likely offering a menu that caters to those seeking both quick meals and more traditional, spicy Chinese dishes.
Triple Eight's Express and Szechwan Style, also referred to as 888 Restaurant in one of the reviews, positions itself as a Chinese restaurant that offers both the speed of express service and the specialized, often fiery, flavors of Szechwan cooking. This dual focus suggests a menu that might include quicker, more common Chinese-American dishes alongside more authentic Szechwan specialties. The availability of both express options and Szechwan style dishes allows the restaurant to cater to a broad range of customers, from those looking for a fast lunch to those wanting a more elaborate and flavorful dinner.
Customer reviews for Triple Eight's Express and Szechwan Style present contrasting experiences, highlighting both positive and negative aspects of dining at this establishment. One reviewer shared a negative experience related to an order placed from what they identified as a "new location." In this instance, the customer requested pork fried rice as a substitution for regular fried rice and was informed of a $2.99 upcharge, which they agreed to. However, the order arrived without any fried rice at all, yet the customer was still charged for it. Additionally, the reviewer mentioned asking for a "free" egg roll, supposedly offered for orders over $25, which was also denied and charged. As a result of these discrepancies, the reviewer felt "screwed over" for $5 and vowed never to return, despite the restaurant's proximity to their home. This review raises significant concerns about order accuracy, billing practices, and adherence to promotional offers.
Conversely, another reviewer had an "amazing experience" at what they referred to as "888 Restaurant," which is likely the same establishment. This customer praised the food as "delicious" and found the atmosphere to be "so inviting." They specifically mentioned their server, Sasha, who was described as "super friendly" and significantly enhanced the overall experience. The reviewer highlighted two dishes they particularly enjoyed: the "rice noodles with cabbage," which they found "fantastic," and the "spicy chicken," which they described as "incredible." Based on this positive experience, the reviewer stated they would "definitely" be returning soon. This review presents a starkly different picture, emphasizing excellent food quality, a pleasant atmosphere, and outstanding service.
The contrasting nature of these two reviews suggests that the experience at Triple Eight's Express and Szechwan Style can be variable. The negative review points to potential issues with order fulfillment, billing, and customer service in at least one instance, possibly at a new location. The positive review, on the other hand, highlights the deliciousness of specific dishes, the inviting atmosphere, and the friendliness of the staff, particularly the server Sasha. Potential customers might need to consider these differing perspectives when deciding whether to dine here.
As a Chinese restaurant specializing in Szechwan style, the menu at Triple Eight's Express likely includes a variety of dishes characteristic of this bold and flavorful regional cuisine. Szechwan dishes often feature liberal use of garlic, chili peppers, and the distinctive Sichuan peppercorns, which impart a unique numbing sensation alongside the spiciness. Examples of typical Szechwan dishes might include Mapo Tofu, Kung Pao Chicken (though often adapted for Western palates), Twice-Cooked Pork, and various spicy noodle and vegetable dishes. The mention of "spicy chicken" in the positive review aligns with the fiery nature of Szechwan cuisine. The "rice noodles with cabbage" suggests a broader menu that might also include less spicy options or dishes from other regional Chinese cuisines or Chinese-American standards. The negative review's mention of "pork fried rice" indicates that standard fried rice options, with protein variations, are also likely available, possibly as part of their "express" offerings.
The environment of Triple Eight's Express and Szechwan Style is described as "so inviting" by one reviewer, suggesting a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere for dining in. However, the negative review does not provide any details about the ambiance, possibly because it was a takeout order from a new location. The positive feedback on the atmosphere indicates that at least one of their locations aims to create a welcoming space for customers to enjoy their meals.
In terms of services, Triple Eight's Express and Szechwan Style offers both dine-in and takeout options. The negative review was based on a takeout order, while the positive review was from a dine-in experience where the server, Sasha, played a significant role. The availability of a phone number, (417) 832-8889 and +1 417-832-8889, allows customers to place orders for pickup or make inquiries about the menu or services at either their established or new location. The reference to a "new location" in the negative review implies that the restaurant may have expanded or relocated, which could potentially explain some initial service or operational issues.
Features of Triple Eight's Express and Szechwan Style include its specialization in Szechwan cuisine, which promises bold and spicy flavors. The positive review highlights the delicious food, inviting atmosphere, and friendly service, particularly from a server named Sasha. The availability of express service suggests quick and convenient options for those on the go. However, a potential concern is the inconsistency in order accuracy and billing, as indicated by the negative review, especially at what is mentioned as a new location. The menu likely offers a range of Szechwan specialties alongside more common Chinese dishes, including various fried rice and noodle options.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided text, aside from the mention of a "free" egg roll for orders over $25, which the negative reviewer claimed was not honored. Chinese restaurants often have special offers, lunch menus, or discounts to attract customers. To learn about any current promotions or special deals at Triple Eight's Express and Szechwan Style, it would be advisable to contact them directly via phone or inquire at either their established or new location.
In conclusion, Triple Eight's Express and Szechwan Style in Springfield, MO, offers a combination of express Chinese fare and the distinctive, spicy flavors of Szechwan cuisine. Customer experiences appear to vary, with one reporting significant issues with a takeout order, including missing items and incorrect charges, possibly at a new location. Conversely, another customer had an exceptional dine-in experience, praising the delicious food, inviting atmosphere, and friendly service. Potential customers should consider these contrasting reviews. For the most accurate information regarding their menu, hours, locations (including the "new" one), and any current promotions, it is recommended to contact Triple Eight's Express and Szechwan Style directly at (417) 832-8889 or +1 417-832-8889.

Customer Reviews
I ordered food from their new location. I wanted pork fried rice instead of fried rice. I asked if there was an upcharge for it, and was told yes, $2.99, no problem. They sent the order without the fried rice, which I was charged for! I also asked for a “free” egg roll, for an order over $25. And was told no problem. I was charged for that too! So basically I got screwed over for $5.?!!! I will never go back, even though they are right down the street from me!
I had an amazing experience at 888 Restaurant! The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was so inviting. Sasha, our server, was super friendly and made the whole experience even better. The rice noodles with cabbage were fantastic, and I tried the spicy chicken—wow, it was incredible! Definitely coming back soon!
Only went through the drive through. But the guy at drive through was awesome. The food was pretty good overall. I would recommend the crab rangoo with its sweet flavor. All that being said, I was pretty disappointed in the dumplings. Everything tasted great except the dumplings that seemed like they forgot to add seasoning. Even the dumpling dipping sauce was great....... only the dumplings themselves left a little to be desired.
This is one of the better veggie fried rice in town. It has water chestnuts and baby corn,,,i subtracted green bell peppers. In the furure I would also subtract celery. At home I added crushed red pepper and real soy sauce. crab rangoons are sweet but good. I called ahead and the person that took my order was easy to understand.
this is the worst food i’ve ever eaten in my life. i did homework for 8 hours straight, went without lunch, paid $20 for the large portion of sesame chicken, and threw it out after 3 bites. this tastes like someone dumped sugar and ketchup together and threw a few sesame seeds on top for looks. the place was not busy, and yet my chicken wasn’t even tossed with the sauce. which retrospectively was for the better because of how terrible the sauce was. the sweet and sour sauce sucked too. and my eggrolls were soggy. i would rather starve than eat something like that again. i can’t brush my teeth enough to rid myself of this taste. i considered calling to ask if the chef just happened to be having a bad day or something but all these other reviews seem to agree. this place sucks so bad. i might dispute this charge with my bank because of how bad this meal was. this ruined my week.
