Customers have generally expressed positive experiences with the food and service.

One customer recounted visiting during a power outage in Springfield, noting that while the buffet was small, they left feeling happy and satisfied. They also observed the restaurant becoming very busy as more people arrived from Springfield due to the outage, and commended the staff for handling the increased crowd well under what must have been stressful circumstances.

An update from the same customer further solidified the positive impression, explicitly stating that Triple Eight’s Buffet Republic is now a buffet. They described the food as fresh, hot, and delicious, and were particularly impressed by the attentiveness of the staff, claiming it was the most attentive service they had ever experienced at a buffet. This suggests a strong focus on customer satisfaction and food quality.

Another reviewer pointed out some initial confusion regarding the restaurant's format, noting that while the signage indicated a buffet, they initially found it not to be one. However, this seems to have been a temporary situation or a misunderstanding, as later feedback confirms the buffet format. This reviewer also mentioned the absence of a soda fountain, with the restaurant offering soda cans, bottled water, and bottled tea instead. On a positive note, they described the interior decor as peacefully decorated and lauded the food as so delicious that it would not be missed compared to another local Chinese restaurant, China King. The reviewer also praised the friendliness of the staff and specifically highlighted the Steamed Peking Dumplings and the Full Size Teriyaki Chicken with Steamed Rice, even providing pictures of these dishes.

We came here when the electricity went out in Springfield due to the storm. The food was good. A small little buffet, but we left happy and satisfied. They got overrun by people towards the end as more people traveled over from Springfield. I am sure they were stressed, but they handled it well.

Update... This is a buffet now. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. The staff was the most attentive staff that I have ever seen at a buffet. I loved it! The sinage outside says it's a buffet. It is not a buffet. They do not have a soda fountain. Instead, they have soda cans, bottled water and, bottled tea.The inside is peacefully decorated. The food was so delicious that you absolutely will NOT miss China King. The ladies were so sweet. Pictured are the Steamed Peking Dumplings and the Full Size Teriyaki Chicken with Steamed Rice.

First and foremost, they did great with the new lay out! I was very impressed with the aesthetic, but now to the most important part the new buffet. I liked their take on the food on the buffet. It’s full of flavor! Now it’s definitely got spice, so just be prepared for that.

I ordered Shrimp Mandarin and received a bed of onions in sweat sauce. It’s supposed to be hot sauce. I was dumbfounded! No fortune cookie either. Fried rice was another disgrace (looked like brown rice, no fried egg in it) You can’t call this place a Chinese restaurant. Disgraceful
