About TR's Oriental

Located at 331 S Main St in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, TR's Oriental is a Chinese restaurant serving the local community. As part of the Chinese restaurant category, it aims to provide a range of Asian-inspired dishes to its customers. They can be contacted at (864) 834-3399 or their mobile number +1 864-834-3399 for inquiries or to place orders.

Based on the available customer reviews, the environment of TR's Oriental appears to be a point of mixed perception. One reviewer suggested that the restaurant could benefit from some updates to its physical appearance, specifically mentioning the outside sign, walls, and flooring. This implies that the current ambiance might be somewhat dated or in need of renovation. However, this same reviewer also noted that the restaurant does a significant amount of takeout business, suggesting that the quality of the food itself is a draw for many customers, regardless of the interior aesthetics.

The services offered at TR's Oriental include both dine-in and takeout options. The fact that they handle a large volume of takeout orders indicates that convenience and the ability to enjoy their food at home are important aspects of their service. Regarding the staff, experiences seem to vary. One customer reported a positive interaction with the person behind the counter, who was described as very friendly, possibly in response to previous comments about their demeanor. This reviewer also noted a friendly greeting from someone who appeared to be a staff member taking their own lunch in the dining area.

However, another recent review paints a less favorable picture of the service. This customer described the staff as rude, citing an instance where the order-taker at the register required repeated instructions and a waitress who delivered the food with no verbal interaction and a dismissive manner. These contrasting accounts suggest that the service quality might be inconsistent or that individual experiences can differ significantly.

In terms of features, TR's Oriental offers a menu of standard Chinese-American dishes. One reviewer specifically praised the freshness and flavor of their chicken with mushrooms. However, another customer expressed disappointment with the quality of their General Tso's chicken, describing the sauce as bland and watered down, and noting that it lacked the requested spiciness. This reviewer also reported receiving shrimp fried rice with no shrimp and a large combo with a small amount of chicken. These comments indicate potential inconsistencies in food preparation and portion sizes.

One of the positive features highlighted by a customer is the reasonable pricing of the food. This suggests that TR's Oriental may offer a more budget-friendly option compared to some other Chinese restaurants in the area. The combination of good food at a reasonable price seems to be a key factor in their appeal, particularly for those utilizing their takeout service.

Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. It is common for Chinese restaurants to offer lunch specials, combination meals, or discounts on certain days or for specific order amounts. To obtain information about any current promotions at TR's Oriental, local users would need to contact the restaurant directly at (864) 834-3399 or check if they have any online presence, such as a website or social media page, where such offers might be advertised.

One reviewer mentioned that TR's Oriental "used to be the restaurant you wanted to go to in Travelers Rest for good Chinese food," but now they would not recommend it. This suggests a potential decline in the overall quality or consistency of the food and service over time, at least in the opinion of this particular customer. This historical context, combined with the mixed recent reviews, indicates that while some customers still find the food appealing and reasonably priced, others have had negative experiences with both the food and the service.

In conclusion, TR's Oriental in Travelers Rest, SC, is a Chinese restaurant that appears to have a loyal takeout customer base, likely due to its reasonably priced food. While one recent dine-in customer praised the freshness and flavor of a dish and noted friendly service, another reported issues with rude staff, bland food, incorrect order contents, and small portion sizes. The restaurant's environment might benefit from updates. Potential customers should weigh these mixed reviews when considering dining at or ordering from TR's Oriental. For the most accurate information on their menu, services (dine-in and takeout), and any current promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

I had chicken with mushrooms and it was very fresh! Very flavorful and I really enjoyed it! The guy behind the counter kept saying thank you thank you thank you, maybe because people commented how he wasn’t very friendly, but he was very friendly to me. One gentleman from the back came out to have lunch and he said hello to me. This place is so reasonable and the food is very good! I just think that if they put a new outside sign and redid their walls and floor that it would attract more people to come eat there. They do a lot of takeout so obviously people like the food.

Okay where to begin. First off the staff was rude. The man taking my order at the register I had to tell him three times what I wanted. The waitress when she delivered it to me said absolutely nothing and basically slammed it on the table. The portion of food was definitely not worth it. I had General Tso's chicken and basically the sauce was bland and watered down. I had asked for them to please make certain that it was spicy and it was far from it. I ordered shrimp fried rice and found no shrimp in my rice. I ordered the large combo and had seven small pieces of chicken. This place used to be the restaurant you wanted to go to and Travelers Rest for good Chinese food however now I wouldn't recommend it for anything.

This was the nicest take out style Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been in. Granted this place is still at its core a take out location, but the dining area is spacious and in fair condition. Service was beyond adequate as we were not expecting our food to be served on plates, we were expecting takeout containers. Our dumplings were fantastic, and both the Honey and Orange chicken combos were fantastic. This beats Chinese food back in Myrtle Beach, and is reminiscent of a few restaurants I frequented back in NY.

Very over priced. The vegetable soup was like veggies in hot water. No flavor at all. The egg rolls were very lightly filled.. barely any veggies in them. The service…. What service? The act like you aren’t supposed to ask for to go boxes, lids etc.. The atmosphere was so cold that my food was ice cold before I could finish half of it. The people working there were wearing coats behind the counter. We use to love this place.. not anymore.. will not be back. And last but not least, a girl came out of the kitchen with her apron on and went to the restroom- apron still on when she came out.

I’m very picky when it comes to Chinese, but this is the best Chinese I’ve come across in Greenville so far! Wonton Soup was really good! Egg rolls are good too, but wish they were filled more. Sesame chicken was really good as well, but the fried rice was just ok. Not very flavorful. The boneless spare ribs were ok, but I prefer them thicker. It came as thin shreds. My husband liked the dumplings. I just prefer ones that have more dough. Overall it was good & I will go again next time I’m craving sesame chicken!
