About Top's China

Located at 6215 Chesapeake Cir G, New Kent, VA 23124, USA, Top's China serves the local community as a Chinese restaurant offering takeout services. They can be contacted at (804) 966-7166 or their mobile number +1 804-966-7166 for orders or inquiries.

Based on recent customer feedback, the experience at Top's China in New Kent appears to be concerning, with significant issues raised regarding food quality and safety. One reviewer, identifying as a "foodie and flavor expert," shared their initial impression after trying the restaurant for the first time. While acknowledging that a single visit might not provide a definitive assessment of a Chinese restaurant where consistency is key, their first experience was not favorable. They ordered the General Tso's Chicken, a common and often expectedly satisfying dish, but found it to be "entirely too sweet" and "drenched with crushed red pepper," suggesting an imbalance in flavor. Additionally, the reviewer noted that the white rice seemed "old and steamed," and the fried chicken was described as "mid," indicating a mediocre quality. This initial experience left the reviewer questioning whether they would return, stating that it would likely require an exceptionally difficult day or significant traffic congestion to warrant a second visit. This feedback highlights potential issues with the preparation and freshness of some of their basic menu items.

Adding to these concerns, another customer reported a severe and alarming experience. They ordered takeout on a Sunday evening and stated that within an hour of eating the dinner, both they and their wife became "deathly sick" for two days due to suspected food poisoning. This is a very serious accusation and raises significant concerns about the restaurant's food safety practices and the quality of ingredients used. Such an incident can have severe health consequences for customers and severely impacts the restaurant's reputation and trustworthiness. It is crucial to note that this is a single reported incident, but its gravity cannot be understated.

The limited information available in these two reviews does not provide any insights into the environment or ambiance of Top's China, as both experiences appear to be related to takeout orders. Therefore, no objective assessment can be made regarding the dine-in experience, cleanliness of the establishment, or the overall atmosphere for customers who might choose to eat on-site, if that option is even available. The focus of the feedback is solely on the quality and safety of the food prepared for takeout.

Regarding services, the reviews indicate that Top's China offers takeout. The first reviewer's experience suggests that the preparation of standard dishes like General Tso's Chicken might not meet expectations in terms of flavor balance and ingredient freshness. The second reviewer's account points to a severe potential failure in food safety, leading to significant illness. These contrasting yet negative experiences highlight potential inconsistencies or serious lapses in the restaurant's service in terms of food preparation and safety.

In terms of features, based on the limited feedback, it is difficult to identify positive distinguishing features of Top's China in New Kent. The first review found the General Tso's Chicken to be overly sweet and spicy with old rice, and the fried chicken to be average. The second review unfortunately points to a critical failure in food safety. Without further information, it is challenging to ascertain any unique or positive features that might attract customers. The primary takeaway from these reviews is the need for significant improvement in food quality and stringent adherence to food safety standards.

Currently, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers or specials that Top's China might be running. The negative nature of the recent reviews, particularly the serious food poisoning accusation, likely overshadows any potential promotions they might have. For any information on current deals or special offers, it would be necessary to contact the restaurant directly, but potential customers may be hesitant to do so given the serious concerns raised in the recent feedback.

In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for Top's China in New Kent, VA, paint a concerning picture. One first-time customer found the General Tso's Chicken to be unbalanced in flavor and the rice to be old, while another reported a severe case of food poisoning after consuming their takeout. These issues raise significant red flags regarding food quality and safety practices at this establishment. Potential local users should be aware of these serious concerns when considering ordering from Top's China. Further positive reviews or evidence of improved practices would be necessary to counter these deeply negative experiences.

As a self proclaimed foodie and flavor expert, I wasn’t blown away but it was my first time trying their food. For me, when it comes to this cuisine, I can’t give an honest review after having it once. What makes their food great is consistency, that makes customers continue to return. As a first timer of this location I ordered a basic meal, general tso chicken, and I wasn’t thrilled. Entirely too sweet and drenched with crushed red pepper. The white rice seemed old and steamed. The fried chicken was mid. Would we go back??? It must be a rough day and I64 must be backed up, both directions. Like I said, first timers but will update if tried again.

Great place to go if you like being deathly sick for 2 days from food poisoning! Ordered takeout Sunday evening and within 1 hour of eating dinner my wife and I were both laying in the bathroom floor all night long! My experience, FYI...

I purchased a combination meal for $12.95 plus tax. I had been at work for several hours and was exhausted, picked up my order which included an egg roll , so I changed my clothes and sat down to eat my food, I took my fork to combine the rice with the sauce, up came a HUGE piece of wired metal about three inches long. So I called the restaurant to let them know what I found and I would return it to them for a refund, they were very rude over the phone, almost yelling at me. I was refused a refund so I packed everything (except the egg roll) into the plastic bag . I thought about returning it but decided it wasn’t worth the gas. I will never return to that establishment again and I WILL NEVER recommend them to anyone. If you go there be very careful because people in my community are saying it’s happened to them before as well. Terrible customer service and support.

I only got a couple apps and egg rolls from here. Both the spare ribs and chicken on a stick were dry and stringy. The sauce on the ribs was sweet. It wasn’t bad but I prefer spicy myself. The egg rolls were hot and filled with pork. Not much veggies which was different. Definitely got my food fast tho. Maybe I’ll try something else next time.
