About Top China

Welcome to Top China, a Chinese restaurant located at 9160 Eastchase Pkwy in Montgomery, Alabama. Based on recent customer reviews, Top China offers a focus on freshly cooked, made-to-order meals, particularly their lunch entrees, which have garnered positive feedback for both taste and value. While one customer reported a very negative experience with takeout food and service, the majority of the detailed reviews highlight the quality and generous portions of their lunch offerings, suggesting that Top China may be a worthwhile option for those seeking a freshly prepared Chinese meal in the Montgomery area.

According to one recurring reviewer, Top China provides lunch entrees in what initially appears to be a small covered bowl. However, this perception is quickly dispelled when the contents are emptied onto a plate, revealing a portion size that covers an entire full-size dinner plate. This reviewer, who has visited multiple times and tried different dishes, consistently emphasizes the generous quantity of food received for the price of $6.95 per lunch entrée, deeming it well worth the cost. This focus on providing a substantial amount of food at an affordable price point appears to be a key feature of Top China's lunch service.

The cooking method at Top China is highlighted as "cooked to order," ensuring that the food is served very hot and presumably fresh. This approach to preparation likely contributes to the positive taste experiences reported by several customers. One reviewer specifically mentioned enjoying the bourbon chicken and looking forward to trying the teriyaki chicken, indicating satisfaction with at least two of their entrée options. The recommendation to be patient if there is a wait for an order further supports the idea that the food is prepared fresh upon being ordered, which can sometimes take a little extra time but often results in a higher quality meal.

Another dish that has received high praise is the L4. Moo Goo Gai Pan. A customer who was unfamiliar with this dish thoroughly enjoyed it, describing the sauce as "delicious" and the vegetables as "fresh." The chicken in the Moo Goo Gai Pan was noted to be "incredibly tender and moist." This positive feedback suggests that Top China excels in preparing classic Chinese dishes with attention to flavor and texture. The reviewer also reiterated the point about the seemingly small bowl containing a surprisingly large portion when served on a plate, reinforcing the value aspect.

In addition to their lunch entrees, Top China also offers steamed dumplings, which one long-term reviewer enthusiastically described as "extremely delicious." This suggests that their menu includes appetizers that are also well-received. The willingness of this reviewer to consistently recommend the restaurant and vouch for the quality of their food, based on numerous positive experiences, adds credibility to the positive feedback.

However, it is crucial to acknowledge the starkly contrasting negative review. One customer described their takeout experience as "absolutely horrible," citing old-smelling and looking rice, and honey chicken with a terrible odor. They also reported a negative attitude from the staff member they spoke with when calling to complain. This review serves as a significant counterpoint to the positive experiences, indicating a potential inconsistency in food quality or customer service, particularly with takeout orders. This highlights the importance for potential customers to consider the possibility of varying experiences.

Despite the negative feedback regarding one takeout order, the subsequent reviews, spanning several months, consistently praise the quality and value of the lunch entrees and the Moo Goo Gai Pan, with a specific mention of the delicious steamed dumplings. The fact that one reviewer chose to eat their to-go lunch entrée at the restaurant and noted the availability of tables suggests that Top China does offer a dine-in option, although perhaps primarily catering to takeout during busy periods. Customers who prefer to eat at the restaurant are welcome to do so.

Based on the available information, the environment of Top China is not extensively described. However, the mention of tables for dining in indicates that they have a physical space for customers to eat their meals on-site. One reviewer brought their own plate, suggesting a casual setting where customers might have some flexibility. The focus of the positive reviews is primarily on the food itself rather than the ambiance or décor.

The services offered by Top China include both takeout and dine-in options. Customers can order food to go, as mentioned in the negative review and the context of lunch entrees being taken away. Additionally, there are tables available for customers who wish to eat at the restaurant. The phone numbers provided, (334) 270-1668 and +1 334-270-1668, can be used to place orders or make inquiries. Delivery service is not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, so local users may need to confirm if this is an option by contacting the restaurant directly.

The features of Top China appear to include freshly cooked, made-to-order meals, particularly their affordable and generously portioned lunch entrees. The Moo Goo Gai Pan and steamed dumplings are highlighted as especially delicious. The restaurant seems to offer a good value for money, especially during lunchtime. However, potential customers should be aware of the reported negative experience with a takeout order, suggesting that quality control might be an area for improvement or that experiences can vary.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Top China in the provided reviews. The affordable pricing of their lunch entrees and the generous portions could be considered an ongoing value proposition. Local users interested in any potential specials or discounts might want to contact the restaurant directly or check local online listings for any advertised promotions.

In conclusion, Top China in Montgomery, Alabama, offers freshly cooked Chinese cuisine with a focus on affordable and generous lunch entrees. Dishes like the bourbon chicken, teriyaki chicken, Moo Goo Gai Pan, and steamed dumplings have received positive feedback. While there is a concerning report of a very negative takeout experience, the recurring positive reviews for the lunch options and dine-in suggest that Top China can provide a satisfying meal, especially for those seeking a good value during lunchtime. Local users are encouraged to try their freshly prepared dishes and consider the mixed feedback when making their decision.

1 star is too much to give them. My wife picked up food on the way home and the food was absolutely horrible. The attitude of the young lady was even worse upon calling to complain. The rice smelled and looked old, and the honey chicken smelled horrible. They will never get another penny from me

This was my first experience with Top China restaurant. I did not know what to expect so I ordered two lunch entrees. They come in a what appears to be a small covered bowl. The food is cooked to order and is very hot in temperature. I was able to only eat the bourbon chicken. I have the teriyaki chicken for another meal. I did not know how the food would be...... I thought it was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. 09 August 2023. I failed to mention that while it comes in a small bowl, when I emptied it out onto a plate, it covered the entire full size dinner plate. I knew at that moment I would not be able to eat both bowls. I felt it was well worth the $6.95 I paid for lunch entree. I will be back to this restaurant for another delicious lunch. Please remember if you have to wait a while for your order, be patient it is being prepared freshly. 25 August 2023 I ate my to go lunch entree here at the restaurant. They have tables. I brought my own leak resistant paper plate with me. I ordered the L 4. Moo Goo Gai Pan. I had no idea what it was, but I enjoyed it very much. I took a photo. It looks darker than the it should be because I added two packs of soy sauce. I am okay with sodium chloride. I highly recommend this restaurant. 07 March 2024 I enjoyed lunch there this afternoon. I very much enjoy Moo Goo Gai Pan because of the delicious sauce and the fresh vegetables. The chicken is incredibly tender and moist. When you get it in a bowl, it looks like very little, but you see how it ends up on a 10.5-inch plate. I highly recommend it. I want to thank everyone who has viewed this review. I always speak from my heart and I always mean what I say. I will admit that I very much enjoy their steamed dumplings!! They are extremely delicious. 05 April 2025

Gem found while traveling! Cars parked out front, jammed inside but SUPER quick service. Food was fantastic. Just got simple chicken fried rice and Mongolian beef with white rice. Wish my hometown spot was this good. 100% would recommend.

My niece has eaten here before, and the food was great! They give a nice portion of food. However, today, when I went to order, they messed up the order but that’s OK… The problem is that they also burned my food! It was a to go order and I live an hour away so, by the time I got home and opened up my Mei Fun… You could smell the char burn on it and you can taste it in the noodles! The shrimp egg foo yong I ordered probably taste nice without the sauce, but I put the sauce on like I normally would only the sauce taste like salty, hoisin sauce, which doesn’t go with egg foo yong at all. I have eaten Chinese food most of my life even when visiting China and I have to say this is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had! Go in my food, one time, and I will never come back so all of you may not care. This is a customer who will never return.
