About Tony's Chinese Food

Tony's Chinese Food is a restaurant located at 3312 W 63rd St, Chicago, IL 60629. You can contact them at (773) 912-6284 or +1 773-912-6284. This establishment is known for serving freshly cooked Chinese dishes.

Many customers have praised Tony's Chinese Food for its fresh and flavorful meals. Dishes like the ginger chicken, crab rangoon, and vegetable egg/spring rolls have received positive feedback. The ginger chicken, in particular, is noted for its well-balanced ginger flavor and perfectly cooked vegetables. The crab rangoon is described as having a crispy exterior and creamy interior, while the egg/spring rolls are filled with tender cabbage and carrots.

Customers have also appreciated the attentive and friendly customer service. The restaurant is commended for cooking food fresh to order, even close to closing time. Many reviewers highlight the fresh ingredients and the care taken in preparing the dishes, which they find superior to other local Chinese restaurants.

However, some recent reviews have raised concerns. One reviewer reported being overcharged compared to the menu prices and finding a hair in their Mongolian beef. They also mentioned the bowl being filled with noodles instead of more beef, which was disappointing. This indicates some potential inconsistencies in pricing and food quality.

Despite these occasional negative experiences, Tony's Chinese Food is generally well-regarded for its fresh and tasty Chinese cuisine. The use of fresh ingredients and made-to-order dishes are strong points, making it a popular choice in the Chicago Lawn area. Potential customers should be aware of the reported inconsistencies, but many find the food and service to be excellent.

Editing my review: In a recent visit, I was charged almost $2 more compared to the menu price for each item I ordered (dinner combo and Mongolian beef). I ordered the Mongolian beef to go, and upon warming it up discovered a hair (I have short coily hair, there's no way this is mine) and the bottom of the bowl supplemented with random noodles instead of more beef. Definitely disheartening. In short: The meal was fresh, delicious and fairly priced. The customer service was friendly and attentive from a distance. They have a new regular in me! I came in very close to their closing time (not purposefully) but they still treated me courteously as a dine-in customer. All of my food was cooked fresh to order. I chose the dinner special, which comes with an entree (I chose ginger chicken with no carrots), egg fried rice, and crab rangoon. I also ordered vegetable spring rolls, but it seemed like I received vegetable egg rolls instead, which I didn't mind, because they were delicious. The ginger chicken had a present ginger flavor that didn't overpower the delicate flavors of all the vegetables. The vegetables included were bell peppers, baby corn, snow pea pods, onions, and broccoli. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, long enough to soak up the flavor of the ginger sauce, but short enough to keep their crunchy texture. The egg fried rice was fluffy and well-seasoned, it did not require any extra soy sauce. The crab rangoon had a crispy, flakey exterior and a creamy, soft center, I almost ordered more despite not having the stomach space! The vegetable egg/spring rolls were filled with shredded cabbage and diced carrots, and came with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. Though I did prefer the sauce with the crab rangoon as opposed to the rolls, it did still enhance the flavor. The filling was tender and flavorful, with the same crunchy wrapping as the crab rangoon. You can tell that the crab rangoon and rolls were cooked fresh as well, not sitting under a heat lamp until someone orders them. An amazing meal with great customer service. Glad I don't have to order all the way from Chinatown to get good American Chinese cuisine!

Ordered a few days ago I wanting to give it a try since other reviews seemed positive. The food was bad, bland, and just horrible. The orange chicken was almost a bright pink color and so dry it was more like chicharrón. The kung pow chicken was a weird orangish color and so flavorless. The rice was almost chewy and lacked any flavor. Very bad experience some of the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had.
