About Tong's Cafe

Located at 4151 Main St in the vibrant neighborhood of Flushing, New York, Tong's Cafe operates as a "Chinese Restaurant" offering a variety of Cantonese comfort food. With contact numbers (718) 461-3989 and +1 718-461-3989, this establishment appears to cater to local residents seeking familiar and reasonably priced Chinese dishes.

Based on customer reviews, Tong's Cafe seems to specialize in noodle soups, a staple of Cantonese cuisine. One reviewer mentioned trying the traditional wonton noodle soup and the fish ball and dumpling noodles soup with ho fun. While the wontons were described as "a bit disappointed, little mushy and no shrimps," the dumplings were noted as being "good." This suggests a degree of variability in the quality of different menu items.

Another customer who sampled the soup noodles found them to be "a bit bland," while a stir-fry dish was considered "ok." This indicates that the food at Tong's Cafe is generally perceived as average in terms of flavor. However, a significant positive aspect highlighted in the reviews is the affordability and the decent portion sizes. One reviewer explicitly stated, "The good thing about them is their cheap prices and decent portions - you will be full without breaking the bank." This suggests that Tong's Cafe offers a budget-friendly option for those looking for a filling meal without incurring high costs.

Regarding the environment, one reviewer described the place as "small" and "a bit run down," also noting that it is "full of old folks and not the place for a date." This paints a picture of a casual and perhaps somewhat dated interior, likely catering more to regular, local patrons seeking a no-frills dining experience rather than a special occasion or romantic setting. The small size might also imply limited seating capacity, potentially leading to wait times during peak hours.

In terms of service, the feedback is generally positive. One reviewer mentioned that the "service was good," indicating that the staff is likely attentive and efficient in serving customers. While no specific details about the range of services offered are available, customers can likely expect standard table service for ordering and receiving their food.

The primary features of Tong's Cafe appear to be its focus on traditional Cantonese comfort food, particularly noodle soups and stir-fries, coupled with its affordable pricing and generous portion sizes. This combination makes it an appealing option for individuals and families looking for a budget-friendly meal in the Flushing area. The menu likely includes a variety of soup noodle options, possibly featuring different types of noodles (such as wonton noodles, ho fun, thin egg noodles), various toppings (like fish balls, dumplings, beef, chicken), and different broth flavors.

Given the description of the environment as "small" and "a bit run down" and the clientele being primarily "old folks," the ambiance is likely casual and unpretentious. Customers seeking a modern or upscale dining experience might find Tong's Cafe less appealing. However, for those prioritizing affordability and familiar Cantonese flavors, the environment might be less of a concern.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Tong's Cafe based on the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts or special offers might consider contacting the restaurant directly using the provided phone numbers to inquire about any ongoing promotions or loyalty programs. It's also possible that they might have daily specials that are not mentioned in the general reviews.

In summary, Tong's Cafe in Flushing, NY, is a Chinese restaurant specializing in affordable Cantonese comfort food, particularly soup noodles and stir-fries. While the food quality is described as average, the restaurant is praised for its cheap prices and decent portion sizes, making it a budget-friendly option. The environment is noted as small and somewhat dated, catering to a more casual clientele. The service, however, is reported to be good. For local users seeking an inexpensive and filling Cantonese meal, Tong's Cafe presents a viable option, particularly if ambiance is not a primary concern. It would be advisable to contact the restaurant directly for any information on current promotions or daily specials.

Food was OK. I got the traditional wonton noodle soup and my wife had the fish ball and dumpling noodles soup with ho fun. The wonton was a bit disappointed, little mushy and no shrimps. The dumpling was good though. The place was small but service was good.

The food is average - had the soup noodles and it was a bit bland and a stir fry which was ok. The good thing about them is their cheap prices and decent portions - you will be full without breaking the bank. The place is full of old folks and a bit run down, not the place for a date.

Cozy little place for some HK style food. It is a hole in the wall so don’t expect anything else aside from good food.
