About TLT & Grill Soup

Welcome to TLT & Grill Soup, a Chinese restaurant located at 20371 Stevens Creek Blvd in Cupertino, California. While categorized as a Chinese restaurant, TLT & Grill Soup appears to specialize in a unique offering of BBQ grilled skewers alongside other Chinese dishes, particularly soups and the highly recommended sweet fried pork. This establishment presents a distinct dining experience for the Cupertino community, focusing on grilled meats and a selection of flavorful Chinese specialties.

Customer reviews indicate a strong appreciation for the quality of the food at TLT & Grill Soup, with one reviewer giving it a perfect 5/5 rating in this category. The BBQ grill is specifically highlighted as "awesome," and the variety of skewers available is praised, with the reviewer suggesting that customers are unlikely to be disappointed with their choices. This positive feedback underscores the deliciousness and appeal of TLT & Grill Soup's grilled offerings.

Among the skewer options, beef and lamb are noted for their relatively quick preparation time. One enthusiastic reviewer personally recommends the lamb and beef skewers, giving the beef skewers a notable "!!!" indicating exceptional quality. Other skewer options mentioned include chicken skin, bacon-wrapped mushrooms, intestines, and chicken gizzard, catering to more adventurous palates. The price point for the skewers is mentioned as being "a little bit pricey," with an example of $2.5 for a small beef skewer. Potential customers should be aware of this pricing when considering their order.

In addition to the grilled skewers, TLT & Grill Soup also offers other Chinese dishes. The "sweet fried pork" (锅包肉) receives high praise, described as "so good when fresh, hot, and crispy." This dish appears to be another highlight of the menu and a favorite among customers who appreciate well-prepared and flavorful Chinese cuisine. The restaurant's name also suggests a focus on soups, although specific details about the soup offerings are not extensively covered in the provided reviews.

However, alongside the positive feedback regarding food quality, there are significant concerns raised about the service and order preparation process at TLT & Grill Soup. One reviewer gave the service a low rating of 2/5 and detailed extremely long wait times for certain dishes. They reported waiting over an hour for quail and tofu skin skewers, and even the appetizer took 45 minutes to be ready. Furthermore, their order of "fried pork tender" never arrived after 90 minutes at the restaurant, leading them to leave before receiving it. This paints a picture of a potentially disorganized or overwhelmed kitchen and service staff.

The same reviewer expressed shock at the "bad" order preparation management, stating that the "wait time for the food is insane." They also lamented that this inefficiency could be a "waste of the chef's talent and ingredients" if improvements are not made to the management process. This strong criticism highlights a major drawback of the dining experience at TLT & Grill Soup.

Another reviewer also noted that the service "can get quite slow because they have so many takeout orders." This suggests that the restaurant might prioritize takeout orders, potentially leading to delays for dine-in customers. While this reviewer still loves the beef skewers and sweet fried pork, the slow service is acknowledged as a potential issue for those dining at the restaurant.

Regarding the environment, one reviewer mentioned that "the restaurant is small," which can lead to it filling up quickly. This is an important consideration for potential dine-in customers, especially during peak hours. The limited space might result in waiting times for a table. No other details about the ambiance or cleanliness of the restaurant are provided in the reviews.

Features of TLT & Grill Soup include its specialty in delicious BBQ grilled skewers, particularly the highly recommended beef and lamb, and a variety of other skewer options. The sweet fried pork is another standout dish. The prices for skewers are noted as being somewhat high. However, a significant feature that potential customers need to be aware of is the possibility of extremely slow service and long wait times for food, particularly for certain skewer types and appetizers. The restaurant also appears to be small, which can lead to it becoming crowded quickly.

In conclusion, TLT & Grill Soup in Cupertino offers highly-rated BBQ grilled skewers and other tasty Chinese dishes like the sweet fried pork. The food quality is a significant draw, particularly the beef and lamb skewers. However, potential customers should be prepared for potentially slow service and long wait times for food, especially for certain menu items, possibly due to a high volume of takeout orders and/or kitchen management issues. The restaurant is also small and can fill up quickly. Food: 5/5 Service: 2/5 The bbq grill there is awesome. You can basically order any types of skewers and you won't go wrong with your choices. It's a little bit pricey, for example, $2.5 for a small beef skewer. The warning is that 1) the restaurant is small so it filled up pretty quickly. 2) the skewers come out super slow. Beef and lamb skewers are quick but we waited 1 hr+ since we placed the order for the quail, tofu skin, etc. Even the appetizer took 45 min to be ready (!?). The fried pork tender (锅包肉) never came since we have to leave after spending 90 minutes at the restaurant, by that time, the fried pork tender was still not ready. I was shocked at how bad they managed the order preparation process as the wait time for the food is insane. It's definitely a waste of the chef's talent and ingredients if they can't find a way to improve the management.

Good prices, good food. I personally recommend the lamb, beef (!!!), chicken skin, bacon wrapped mushrooms, intestines, and chicken gizzard if you aren't afraid of that. For their dishes, I love the sweet fried pork. It's so good when fresh, hot, and crispy. The service can get quite slow because they have so many takeout orders but I just love the beef skewers and sweet fried pork here.

Dined here on a workday night, we were the first customer. The food were very delicious and service was quick and good. Chicken skin and intestine were my favorites, they were both very crispy. The lamb and beef skewer were also very good. However the kidney was a little bit overcooked. Overall it was a great Chinese northern bbq place, would come again!

Very tasty Chinese BBQ. I enjoyed the meat skewers, they were seasoned very well. Our group especially liked the grilled vegetables, the grilled green beans were excellent and the grilled mushrooms were truly divine. The atmosphere is great, it's a clean, well-lit place with nice Chinese decor. And our server was very friendly. All in all we had a great experience at this restaurant and highly recommend it.

Authentic northeastern China BBQ - according to my Chinese friend. I was there on Friday lunch and it was not busy. I can see why they get bad service review - especially during dinner when they are very busy. We had no issue during the non busy lunch hour. About the food. They offer variety of skewed BBQ items - good combination of meat and vegetable. They flavored with spice such as cumin, red pepper and etc. If you don’t like spices you should not try this place. I ordered beef, squid, green bean, and eggplants. They are flavored with the same spice and grilled - served on a tray. If you order more items, they may just get the skewers and put these on your tray. Just don’t be surprised ^_^ One way to order is to order a plain egg fried rice. Then order meat and vegetable to eat with it. The service is good. It looks like it is a ma-and-pa shop with relatives helping out. So I don’t expect them to be professional. The are tentative once you sit at the table. They offers cold water in a glass reusable bottle for you. My mom won’t drink this, I know. So noted. Overall, we had a good experiences at this place and will definitely go back here to try other dishes again.
