About Ting Hau

Welcome to Ting Hau, a Chinese restaurant located at 717 4th St in the heart of downtown Santa Rosa, California. As a Chinese restaurant with a long-standing presence in Sonoma County, Ting Hau offers a diverse menu of Chinese cuisine, aiming to provide fresh and flavorful dishes to the local community and visitors. With a history spanning over two decades, Ting Hau has seemingly established itself as a reputable dining option in Santa Rosa, drawing in customers with its food and welcoming atmosphere.

Based on the available customer reviews, Ting Hau appears to be a highly regarded establishment. One reviewer expressed overall satisfaction, particularly highlighting the "freshness of the dish," noting that it tasted "as though it were almost cooked from scratch." This emphasis on freshness suggests a commitment to quality ingredients and careful preparation, which can be a significant draw for those seeking a more authentic and less mass-produced Chinese dining experience. The reviewer was so impressed that they expressed a strong desire to return and sample more of Ting Hau's offerings.

Another customer provided a more detailed account, referring to Ting Hau as an "accredited Chinese food restaurant." They specifically enjoyed the interior ambiance of the restaurant, indicating a pleasant and comfortable dining environment. The reviewer also noted the restaurant's popularity, mentioning how busy it can get, which is often a positive sign of a well-loved local eatery. They had the opportunity to speak with a waitress who shared that her family has owned the business in Sonoma County for 24 years, dating back to the 1990s. This longevity and family ownership often contribute to a sense of community and dedication to quality and service.

In terms of the food itself, this reviewer thoroughly enjoyed several dishes. They praised the rice and chow mein, which are staple items in many Chinese restaurants, suggesting that Ting Hau excels in these fundamental offerings. They also enjoyed the soups, specifically mentioning the wonton and hot sauce soup, indicating a flavorful and satisfying soup selection. The shrimp and veggies were also described as "pretty good," showcasing the quality of their seafood and vegetable preparations. The only slight disappointment for this reviewer was the red sauce that accompanied the veggie rolls, suggesting that while most dishes were well-received, there might be some variations in personal preference for certain sauces.

Regarding practical considerations, this reviewer noted that "the prices matched the portions," indicating a fair value for the amount of food received. They also appreciated the "nice and clean bathrooms," which is an important aspect of overall dining comfort. The location of Ting Hau in downtown Santa Rosa was also highlighted as convenient, situated right next to the popular Russian Brewing Company and a retail store, and across the street from Barnes and Noble and an optical office. This central location makes it easily accessible for those working, shopping, or visiting the downtown area.

Parking is often a concern in downtown areas, but Ting Hau offers several options. There is parking available in front of the restaurant as well as behind it. While both of these options are metered, providing direct access to the establishment, there is also a parking garage located behind the restaurant and across the street. This garage offers the added benefit of the first hour being free, with a reasonable rate of $0.75 per hour thereafter. This detailed parking information is particularly helpful for local users planning to dine at Ting Hau.

Based on these positive reviews highlighting the freshness of the food, the pleasant interior, the long-standing family ownership, the enjoyable rice, chow mein, and soups, the fair pricing and portions, and the convenient downtown location with various parking options, Ting Hau appears to be a highly recommended Chinese restaurant in Santa Rosa. Overall extremely please with everything. Mostly the freshness of the dish was really great. It's as though it were almost cooked from scratch. Hard to believe but they really know what they are doing. I would love to return and try more dishes.

I would say Ting Hau is an accredited Chinese food restaurant. I enjoyed the interior of the restaurant. I also liked how busy this place can be. I had talked to the waitress and she said her family has owned the business in Sonoma county for 24 years, since the 90s! They have obviously grown their community and I love to see it. I enjoyed their rice and chow mein very much! I also liked their soups. I had their wonton and hot sauce soup. Their shrimp and veggies were pretty good too. I didn’t really like the red sauce that comes with the veggie rolls. The prices matched the portions. Nice and clean bathrooms. This restaurant is located in downtown Santa Rosa right next to Russian Brewing Company and a retail store and across the street from Barnes and Noble and an optical office. There’s parking in front of the restaurant as well as behind the restaurant. You do have to pay for the meter for both places. There is a parking garage as well behind the restaurant and across the street that the first hour is free at and ¢.75 after. I would recommend to try at least once!

We went on our 1 hr lunch break and the food was amazing amazingly delicious. We ordered combo appetizer and spring rolls non-deep fried, they call it something different. The combo appetizer was great you get to taste 4/5 different items but the spring rolls wasn’t so good however it was freshly made unlike other restaurant we get pre made it.

It is mid-December. That means it gets dark and chilly about 5 pm. I had spent the afternoon in the Santa Rosa Public Library. I was hungry. So I walked across the street to Ting Hau Chinese Restaurant. And there I enjoyed the best mapo tofu I have ever had in my life. Mind you, I have eaten mapo tofu in China, Europe, and the USA. Nothing comes close to the freshly prepared dish that I had at Ting Hau. My congratulations to the chef and all of the staff.

Our go to restaurant for lunch when we're in the area. I ordered the crunchy honey walnut prawns w/walnuts on the side, and the honey sauce came on the side as well...good meal for me...we will keep coming back!
