About Tikka Express Gainesville
Tikka Express Gainesville is a Chinese restaurant located at 1011 W University Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601, USA. While categorized as a Chinese restaurant platform, Tikka Express specializes in providing authentic and flavorful Indian cuisine to the local Gainesville community. Our services primarily focus on takeout, although dine-in options are also available in a casual setting.
Based on customer feedback, Tikka Express is highly regarded for its delicious and well-prepared Indian food, despite its unassuming "hole in the wall" appearance. Customers have specifically praised dishes like the curry chicken and samosas, highlighting their excellent taste. The portions served are noted to be quite large, often providing enough food for two meals.
A significant feature of Tikka Express is its commitment to catering to dietary needs and allergies. The proprietor is described as very friendly and knowledgeable about food allergies, readily answering questions and offering recommendations. Notably, the restaurant is virtually nut-free (with only cashew milk in a few dishes) and serves halal meat, with no alcohol or vinegar used in their preparations. They also offer several vegetarian options, and everything is made in-house.
While the setting is described as more of an "express" style without a fancy ambiance, the focus is clearly on the quality and taste of the food. Many customers seem to opt for takeout, although dine-in is possible. Parking in the busy area can be challenging, especially with ongoing roadwork, but many customers find the food well worth the effort.
Tikka Express also offers a buffet during the week, providing an opportunity to sample a wider variety of their dishes. Customers have appreciated the friendly and helpful service, with the staff taking the time to explain the dishes and accommodate specific preferences, such as spice levels.
If you are a local user in Gainesville with a craving for delicious and authentic Indian food, Tikka Express is highly recommended. Despite its simple setting, the quality of the food, generous portions, allergy-friendly approach, and welcoming service make it a standout choice. You can contact them at (352) 672-6078 or +1 352-672-6078 to place an order or inquire about their menu and weekday buffet.

Customer Reviews
I'd give it five stars on everything but it really is an express, so it doesn't have a fancy setting. I think they probably get a lot more to goes than they get people that eat there, but I don't know that for sure. When I was there, everybody was getting their food to go. Not sure where they parked. I know it was quite a chore for me. I think that would be the only thing that I'm not crazy about. That being it's so hard to find a parking space just to go in for 10 minutes to get something to take away. It's the busy part of town and they're doing work on the roads which doesn't help, in the end it was worth it. I got curry chicken and I believe they were called samosas. It was really good. Just because it's a takeout place that doesn't mean it's not well prepared and delicious. It is. Apparently they have a buffet during the week and I went there on a Saturday so I had to just order one thing. I would love to come back and try some of their other options. If I can get to Gainesville again I will definitely hit this place again. I definitely recommend this place. Even though it looks like a little hole in the wall, it's really good food. And the guy that worked there was very nice. He didn't rush anybody when they were trying to make a decision and he was very helpful explaining what each of the dishes were. He was also good about making sure that he followed what you wanted. Specifically I did not want my curry chicken too hot. He did it perfectly. I think there's just a couple of people working there. I saw someone else that was bringing food out and probably cooking behind the scenes. Give it a try if you like Indian food. I think this Indian food is very good. Everyone else seemed to like theirs too. The portions are quite large also. You'll probably have enough for two meals. Very nice!
ALLERGY FRIENDLY! The proprietor is so friendly, had no problem answering my food allergy questions. And making recommendations. It is virtually nut free (only cashew milk in a few dishes.) Halal, so no alcohol/vinegar. She makes everything in house. Several vegetarian options. The food itself was delicious! And huge portions. Our bill was $30 and we both ate our fill, and still brought home more than we ate there!. I highly recommend!
Huge serving sizes for a great price, and it tastes like heaven with a solid (but not overwhelming) level of spice. This is very clearly a family owned restaurant, and has that little-hole-in-the-wall kind of atmosphere where you know the food is gonna be worth dying for the second you step through the door. Easily my favorite restaurant in the area, and I'll be sad to graduate and move away from it in a couple years.
Not the best chicken biryani but a very close 2nd. The outside porch is not the most inviting or the parking but definitely don't let it stop you.. Inside is a warm friendly face ready to serve great food at a clean table I got chicken biryani extra spicy as I like it hot, the biryani had great flavor in the front and the spicy creeps up, just how I like it. 10 of 10. If you love butter chicken or tiki masala and have not tried biryani this is a great place to try it. The plain nan bread was soft and a huge portion for the price, I am more used to thin crispy nan, but not a complaint was very good. The samosa appetizer was spot on, served fresh and hot with yummy dipping sauce. The total kicker, the amount of biryani for the price, WOW, I got 8 servings from this dish I am a picky foodie cook and this establishment exceed my every expectation.
Fabulous Indian food! I ordered the most popular dish, chicken tikka masala, and it was incredible. The butter chicken and curried vegetables were also delicious! And I got both the rice and the naan to eat. The staff was super friendly too. Can't wait to come back and try more of their menu items!
