About Tianjin Foods

Tianjin Foods is a Chinese restaurant located at 171 E State St # 136, Ithaca, NY 14850, USA. You can contact them at (917) 731-2258 or +1 917-731-2258. As a Chinese restaurant, Tianjin Foods is known for its authentic Chinese buns and dumplings, offering both takeout and dine-in options.

Customer reviews present a mix of experiences. One long-time customer noted a significant price increase, particularly for the beef noodle soup, and expressed dissatisfaction with a $1 charge for a takeout lid, even though disposable containers are reportedly used for dine-in as well. They described this practice as "horrible, ridiculous and disgusting" and stated they would not return.

In contrast, other customers have highly praised Tianjin Foods, particularly for their Goubuli pork buns, which are described as "awesome" and "hard to make great." Several reviewers recommend the restaurant for its authentic buns and dumplings, with one even stating it's a must-have in Ithaca. A list of favorites includes Goubuli pork buns, chicken wonton soup, beef sandwich, seafood dumplings, and chive and pork pancake. One reviewer, who initially found the owner not particularly easy-going, later found her to be nice and the food tasty. They also mentioned that the restaurant can get busy on weekends but is generally fine on weekdays and recommend it to fans of pork buns and dumplings.

In summary, Tianjin Foods appears to specialize in authentic Chinese buns and dumplings and has received positive feedback for these items. However, potential customers should be aware of reported price increases and a charge for takeout containers, as well as mixed feedback regarding service.

I went here quite often a few years ago when I lived in the commons area. Food was good at that time. Service was not good - the lady owner was very rude, but I didn’t care too much. In my last visit, I found prices had increased so much! The beef noodles soup was less than $10. Now it’s almost $15. What’s really cannot acceptable is they charged $1 more for takeout FOR A LID!!! Even for dine in, they still use disposable container. If you say takeout, you will be charged $1 more and you will get a plastic bag and a lid. Isn’t this horrible, ridiculous and disgusting? Will never go again.

Very authentic Chinese buns and dumplings. It’s hard to make great pork buns but Goubuli pork buns here are awesome. I’m so glad we have this place in Ithaca, otherwise I might have to buy frozen buns. My 5 favorites: - Goubuli pork buns - Chicken wonton soup - Beef sandwich - Seafood dumplings - Chive and pork pancake 伊萨卡超好吃的包子铺,推荐狗不理包子和云吞! The owner was not like an easy-going person for my first visit, but after a few more visits I actually found she’s a nice person and made tasty food. Sometimes the place gets busy on weekends but it’s okay on weekdays. Definitely recommend it if you are a big fan of pork buns and dumplings.

Unfortunately the dumplings we received were barely warm on the outside and still cold on the inside.

Best Chinese restaurant in Ithaca for soup and fried dumplings. Pork buns are average but the food is overall very authentic and cheap. I was offended by the shop owner in my first visit as she yelled at me for paying with credit for only a drink. But after several visits, she actually treated me very kindly. Make sure the shop is open before you go, as I have looked forward to eating Tianjin, only finding out that it was still closed :( My fav restaurant in Ithaca!

It isn’t often you find good, quick and simply soup dumplings and noodles in Ithaca, but this is the spot! Delicious hand-pulled noodles with savory melt in your mouth beef and plenty of other delights!
