About Tian Fu Old Town

Tian Fu Old Town is a "Chinese Restaurant" located at 4500 9th Ave NE in Seattle, WA 98105, serving the University District and surrounding areas. They can be contacted at (206) 420-3129 or +1 206-420-3129. Based on recent customer feedback available online, it is crucial for potential patrons to be aware of significant concerns raised regarding the restaurant's hygiene, environment, and food quality.

Several critical reviews paint a concerning picture of the environment at Tian Fu Old Town. One reviewer reported observing the owner with "bare feet on the table they serve customers," stating that they had witnessed this behavior "almost every single night" as of September 16, 2024. This raises serious hygiene concerns and could be a significant deterrent for potential diners. Another reviewer described the "entire room" as looking "cold and not well maintained" and further claimed to have seen "rat feces on one table." This is an extremely alarming accusation that, if accurate, would indicate severe issues with cleanliness and pest control within the dining area. The lack of staff acknowledgement upon entering, as mentioned by one reviewer ("No one checked with you when entering"), also suggests a potential lack of attentiveness to customer service and the overall upkeep of the restaurant's environment.

The services typically offered by a "Chinese Restaurant" would include dine-in, takeout, and potentially delivery. However, given the severe concerns raised about the environment and hygiene at Tian Fu Old Town, potential customers might be hesitant to utilize any of these services. The negative experiences reported could significantly impact the perceived quality and safety of any food prepared and served by this establishment. Without additional positive feedback or evidence of addressed issues, it is difficult to assess the standard services one might expect.

Tian Fu Old Town is identified as serving "sichuan cuisine" by one dissatisfied reviewer. Sichuan cuisine is renowned for its bold and spicy flavors, often utilizing ingredients such as chili peppers and Sichuan peppercorns to create a distinctive numbing and hot sensation. However, the specific features of Tian Fu Old Town's Sichuan offerings, based on the provided reviews, appear to be significantly flawed. One reviewer ordered "pickled chili chicken gizzard rice noodle" and reported that the dish "looked nothing like the photo and tasted nothing like it should be." They noted a lack of "pickled chili," very few gizzards that tasted "raw," and concluded that they had "never seen a sichuan cuisine worse than this one." This extremely negative assessment of a specific Sichuan dish calls into serious question the authenticity and quality of the food being served.

Given the severity of the issues raised in the customer reviews, there is no mention of any positive features or aspects of Tian Fu Old Town. The focus of the feedback is overwhelmingly negative, centered on hygiene violations, a poorly maintained environment, and substandard food quality. The discrepancy between the expectation of authentic Sichuan cuisine and the actual experience reported by a customer is stark and concerning.

Currently, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers or special deals at Tian Fu Old Town. Typically, restaurants might use promotions to attract customers, especially new ones. However, in light of the significant negative feedback concerning hygiene and food quality, it is unlikely that potential customers would be swayed by promotional offers without these underlying issues being addressed and demonstrably improved. Any promotions at this time might be overshadowed by the serious health and safety concerns highlighted in the recent reviews.

In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for Tian Fu Old Town, a "Chinese Restaurant" located in Seattle's University District, raise very serious concerns regarding hygiene, the environment, and the quality of the food, particularly their Sichuan cuisine. One reviewer reported observing the owner's unsanitary behavior, while another described a poorly maintained environment with alleged pest issues. A customer who ordered a specific Sichuan dish expressed extreme disappointment with its appearance and taste, questioning its authenticity and quality. Based on this information, potential customers should exercise extreme caution and carefully consider these recent experiences before deciding to dine at or order from Tian Fu Old Town. Without any positive feedback to counterbalance these significant negative reports, it is impossible to recommend this establishment at this time. It would be prudent for the management of Tian Fu Old Town to address these serious allegations immediately and take visible steps to ensure a clean, safe, and satisfactory dining experience for their customers.

Entire room looks cold and not well maintained. I think I saw rat feces on one table. No one checked with you when entering. Ordered pickled chili chicken gizzard rice noodle. looked nothing like the photo and tasted nothing like it should be. Almost no pickled chili. Very few gizzards and tasted raw. I’ve never seen a sichuan cuisine worse than this one.

Ordered some take outs and really love them. The sweet skin duck is soooo good! A lot of meat and not oily at all. Dry pot is on the point as well.

The service was extremely minimal, the decor was absent, the paint was peeling of the walls, the single restroom appeared to have not been cleaned - maybe since they opened the place. The food arrived really quickly and tastes pretty good.

I ordered the cucumber salad and pork chow mein. Both good, however I personally am not a fan of schezuan peppercorn so just be aware that it is used in the salad. There wasn't anything too remarkable about either dish but it was very tasty. However what I must address is lack of cleaning and sanitation. The entire lobby was dirty as if it hadn't been swept and upon going into the single room bathroom there was no soap of any sort, the trash was full, TP was being used as paper towel, the toilet was stained on the inside and had old pee running down the side, and the floors were absolutely filthy. This was a tad concerning for me as a customer because of this is the parts of the resturant that everyone sees what is the condition of the parts of the resturant that we can't see? I want to chalk it up to the resturant being understaffed however this is the kind of lack of cleaning/upkeep that isn't just developed over a few days. It may be a good idea to hold off on eating here until the county has run a health inspection.
