About The Wok

The Wok is a Chinese restaurant situated at 723 Greenfield Rd in Deerfield, Massachusetts, serving the local community with a menu of Chinese cuisine. As a Chinese Restaurant, The Wok can be contacted at (413) 774-3606 or via their mobile number +1 413-774-3606 for inquiries or to place orders. Based on the limited customer feedback available online, experiences at The Wok appear to be mixed, with notable issues raised regarding food quality for certain dishes, but positive remarks about the staff.

One detailed customer review described a negative experience with two specific dishes. The Shrimp with Lobster Sauce was reported to be excessively salty, rendering it inedible beyond the first two bites. This customer attempted to return the dish and declined a replacement. Furthermore, the same reviewer noted dissatisfaction with their friend's General Tso's Chicken, describing the chicken's appearance as grey and the sauce as cloudy. Despite these issues, a side order of fried shrimp was mentioned as being very good, indicating a potential inconsistency in the quality of different menu items.

A significant part of this negative review focused on the billing experience. The customer was initially charged for the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce that was returned due to its saltiness, despite having eaten only two small bites. This led to a dispute with the owner, who initially insisted on charging for the dish. Eventually, after the customer explained their dissatisfaction and the minimal consumption of the meal, the owner relented and removed the charge. This incident highlights potential concerns regarding customer service policies related to unsatisfactory food. The reviewer also mentioned that the rice served was "yucky" with practically raw onions and that the dishes were overly seasoned with soy sauce, further contributing to the negative perception of the meal.

Despite the significant issues with the food, the reviewer did commend the waitress for her service and understanding of the situation. The waitress reportedly apologized and acknowledged that the customer should not have been charged for the uneaten dish. As a gesture of appreciation for her service, the customer mentioned tipping the waitress based on the original bill amount. This suggests that while there might be problems with the food preparation or quality control, at least one member of the staff provided commendable customer service.

In contrast to the detailed negative review, another customer provided a brief but positive comment, stating that the staff was "so nice" and described them as "awesome." This review also mentioned "amazing history" and a "great life story," although it is unclear whether these remarks pertain to the restaurant itself, the staff, or perhaps the owner. This positive feedback indicates that some customers have had pleasant interactions with the staff at The Wok, suggesting a potential strength in their customer service or the personal connection they establish with patrons.

Considering these two contrasting pieces of feedback, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive overview of the environment and features of The Wok. Neither review offers any insight into the restaurant's ambiance, decor, cleanliness, or any unique features that might distinguish it from other Chinese restaurants. The focus of the reviews is primarily on the food quality and the service experienced during one particular visit.

Similarly, no promotional information for The Wok was included in the provided data. Therefore, it is not possible to comment on any special offers, discounts, or seasonal promotions that the restaurant might be running for local users.

Based on the available information, The Wok in Deerfield, MA, appears to be a Chinese restaurant where the quality of food may be inconsistent. While one customer experienced significant issues with the saltiness of a shrimp dish, the preparation of the General Tso's Chicken, and the quality of the rice, another customer praised the friendliness and service of the staff. The discrepancy in these experiences suggests that potential customers might have varied outcomes when dining at or ordering from The Wok.

For local users in Deerfield and the surrounding areas, The Wok presents a mixed profile based on this limited feedback. The positive note about the staff being "nice" and "awesome" might be a draw for those who value friendly service. However, the detailed account of inedible food and a billing dispute could be a cause for concern. Potential customers might want to consider these points and perhaps look for more recent or additional reviews to gain a broader perspective on the current state of The Wok's food quality and customer service practices before deciding to dine there or order takeout.

Given the lack of information regarding the restaurant's environment, specific services beyond standard Chinese cuisine takeout, or any unique features or promotions, this introduction is limited to the analysis of the two available customer reviews. Local users seeking a Chinese restaurant in Deerfield may find The Wok to be an option, but should be aware of the reported inconsistencies in food quality and the importance of clear communication regarding any issues with their orders.

Shrimp with lobster sauce was so salty I couldn’t get past the second bite so I sent it back, no refire wanted even though they offered. My friend didn’t like his general Tso’s either, chicken looked grey and the sauce was cloudy. Got a side of fried shrimp that was very good. Got the bill and was charged for my meal shrimp with lobster sauce. I immediately questioned it because I literally ate two bites, including only one shrimp that was the size of a nickel from the sauce. The waitress said she asked the owner who said to charge for my dish I sent back. I explained I’d pay for the dish he didn’t like the flavor of, but I didn’t feel I should be charged for a dish I couldn’t eat. The owner then said I didn’t have to pay for mine. I was shocked, I said if I ate some of it I’d understand getting charged, but I ate two bites and sent it back. Terrible practices for a restaurant! Rice was yucky too, onions were practically raw still, one bite of that so three small bites of my entire plate. Over soy sauced by far. Waitress adjusted the bill to only charge us for the fried shrimp and soda. I still tipped her on what the full amount would have been because she did a good job. She apologized because she knew I shouldn’t be charged for my plate. Thank god we didn’t get food to go, wouldn’t have known until we got home 45 minutes away .

Worse Chinese food I have ever had!! Their chicken was definitely rancid and spoiled and I am hoping I don't get sick off the one bite I had and then I dumped the rest right in the trash. I called to report the spoiled food and they offered to make me some more of thier rotten food! 🤢 no refund offered and I will never order food from here again!!!
