About The Wishing Well Restaurant
Welcome to The Wishing Well Restaurant, a local establishment situated at 8800 N Lombard St #3735 in Portland, Oregon. As a Chinese restaurant within the local dining scene, The Wishing Well Restaurant offers a multifaceted experience that extends beyond just traditional Chinese cuisine. This introduction aims to provide local users with a detailed overview of what to expect, based on available information and customer feedback.
Located in the heart of Portland, The Wishing Well Restaurant is easily accessible at the provided address. For those looking to get in touch, the restaurant can be reached by phone at (503) 286-4434 or via mobile at +1 503-286-4434. These contact details are essential for making inquiries, reservations (if applicable), or placing orders.
Based on recent customer reviews, The Wishing Well Restaurant presents a somewhat contrasting picture. One reviewer highlights the establishment as being "very expensive" with "awful" delivery service, strongly advising against visiting for food. This perspective suggests potential drawbacks in terms of pricing and the quality of their delivery operations. However, the same review offers a different viewpoint regarding the in-house experience, recommending it for its "beer and atmosphere." This implies that The Wishing Well Restaurant might offer a unique ambiance and a selection of beverages that are worth exploring.
Another customer provides a more positive perspective, particularly regarding the interior. Despite the exterior appearing "sooooo sketch," the inside is described as "absolutely great." This suggests a potentially surprising and welcoming interior that might differ significantly from initial impressions. The presence of "plenty of video lottery machines" indicates that The Wishing Well Restaurant also functions as a bar or tavern with gaming options, catering to a different segment of clientele seeking entertainment alongside their drinks.
Furthermore, the cleanliness of the interior is explicitly mentioned as "super clean," which is a significant positive aspect for any establishment serving food and beverages. The reviewer also noted that the place was "not crowded," which could be appealing to those seeking a more relaxed and less bustling environment.
The service at The Wishing Well Restaurant appears to be a strong point, with the bartender being described as "super friendly." The willingness of the staff to go the extra mile, such as looking up how to make specific drinks for customers, indicates a commitment to customer satisfaction and a welcoming service culture. This personal touch can significantly enhance the overall experience for patrons.
However, the first review's comment that "it is very obvious that the kitchen has completely given up" raises serious concerns about the quality and consistency of the food being served. This is a crucial factor for a Chinese restaurant, and potential customers should be aware of this feedback. While the atmosphere and bar service might be commendable, the food aspect seems to be a significant area of concern based on at least one recent experience.
Considering these contrasting views, The Wishing Well Restaurant seems to operate as a hybrid space, functioning as both a Chinese restaurant and a bar with video lottery. The atmosphere and friendly service appear to be its strengths, potentially making it a good spot for drinks and socializing. However, the negative feedback regarding the food quality and delivery service should be taken into consideration by those primarily looking for a dining experience.
For local users in Portland, The Wishing Well Restaurant might be an option if you are looking for a casual bar environment with video lottery and friendly service. The clean interior and uncrowded setting could be appealing for a relaxed outing. If you are primarily interested in enjoying beer and the overall atmosphere, this might be a place to consider. However, if your main focus is on high-quality Chinese cuisine, the recent feedback suggests caution.
It's important to note that customer reviews can be subjective and reflect individual experiences. However, the consistency of the negative feedback regarding the food in one review warrants attention. Potential customers might want to weigh the positive aspects of the atmosphere and service against the reported issues with food quality and delivery.
In summary, The Wishing Well Restaurant offers a unique blend of a Chinese restaurant and a local bar in Portland. Its strengths appear to lie in its atmosphere, friendly service, cleanliness, and the presence of video lottery. However, potential customers should be aware of the reported issues concerning the food quality and delivery service. If you are looking for a place to enjoy drinks and a casual ambiance, The Wishing Well Restaurant might be worth a visit. For those prioritizing Chinese cuisine, further investigation or alternative options might be advisable based on the available feedback.
To make an informed decision, local users might consider visiting The Wishing Well Restaurant to experience the atmosphere and service firsthand, perhaps focusing on the bar offerings initially. Observing the food being served to other patrons could also provide additional insights. Ultimately, the decision of whether to patronize The Wishing Well Restaurant will depend on individual priorities and preferences.

This place is very expensive and the delivery is just awful. Come here for beer and atmosphere, but I would never, ever come here for food. Service is fine, but it is very obvious that the kitchen has completely given up
This bar looks sooooo sketch from the outside but it is absolutely great inside. There were plenty of video lottery machines and the place was super clean and not crowded. The bartender was super friendly and every looked up how to make a drink for me and my friend! Will be returning.
This place is old and has been around forever. The food is typical American Chinese. Their pork spare ribs are so freaking delicious and they butterfly their shrimp so you get an even breading to shrimp ratio. The only complaint is that tonight we were in the bar part trying to eat and they seem to let homeless people in . This guy smelled like straight up piss and he had no evidence of being a customer. They might want to enforce no loitering and having to buy something to just camp in the bar.
The General Chicken is supposed to be spicy and garlicky. This tasted exactly like sweet and sour chicken. So much so that I called them and was told the sauce should be brown. So I walked back and had them take a look to make sure the order was right. They said it was. So my review of the general chicken is it's way too sweet and a weird color. And soggy. I prefer mine to be crispy. It's a decent value if you just want calories. $12.50 gets you a box full of soggy chicken pieces, some rice, and some broccoli.
Pretty unassuming place from the outside, just looks like an old dive bar… but, the food was absolutely fabulous! The sweet and sour was the surprise show stopper! House made and full of flavor. The drinks were well made and our server was great! Can’t wait to come back and try more of their menu!
