Rice Box is a really cool take on Chinese Takeout with a modern twist. The inside is simple but modern, with the neon aesthetic permeating throughout. The staff is younger, but nice and by no means hipster nerds. They are extremely helpful. The food is flavorful and amazing, if you want more traditional or American Chinese fare they have you covered. It’s located in the heart of Rice Village so you already know parking is limited. At worst, you might have to use the village parking garage. While you are there check out the boutique shopping and give small businesses your patronage.
This was my first trip to the Rice Box after passing it by for many months. I was very shocked at the futuristic design. It almost gave me Total Recall 2099 vibes. The concept is super cute! Love the design of the menu and even how the water station is set up. They offer sparkling and flat at no additional charge. I ordered take out for my meeting and the food was delicious and held its heat for my additional 20 minute ride to the meeting. They even packaged everything to perfection! The Rice Box is definitely worth returning to and bringing all my peeps. I may even recommend we have our next meeting or networking event there!
The Rice Box – A Mixed Bag of Flavors** I recently visited The Rice Box in Houston, and while I had high hopes, my experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The restaurant is known for its vibrant decor and quick service, but when it comes to the food, my expectations fell a bit short. First, the positives. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the ordering process was a breeze. The atmosphere was lively, with neon lights adding a fun touch to the dining area. However, when it came to the food, I found it to be somewhat overrated. I tried a few of their popular dishes, including the General Tso's Chicken and the Spicy Beef Noodles. While the portions were generous, the flavors didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The General Tso's Chicken was a bit too sweet and lacked the balance of flavors that I was hoping for. The Spicy Beef Noodles, on the other hand, were decent but nothing spectacular—lacking the depth and complexity that a good noodle dish should have. Overall, The Rice Box provides a decent meal if you’re in a rush and need something quick. However, in my opinion, the food is overrated, and there are other places in Houston that offer a more satisfying culinary experience.
Went there in person. We were instantly amazed to see the restaurant interior aesthetics and liked the vibrant atmosphere there. We ordered the Orange Peeled Beef with white rice, Curry Fried Rice, Chicken Eggroll and a Thai Tea Nitro. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish offering a perfect blend of flavors! The inviting ambiance, combined with the exceptional cuisine, makes this a place we'll definitely return to. Highly recommended!
The food wasn't that great. The wings were wet. I thought it was supposed to be lemon pepper dry rub according to the menu. The menu also said large wings. These are drummettes not wings. Why do restaurants claim to have wings. Over priced for sure. The fried rice was just gross. I won't be trying this place again. It's over priced for the small quantity of food they serve. This place is definitely over hyped. The scallion pancakes were delicious with the curry sauce. Only thing i did enjoy.
