About The Old Bag of Nails Pub - Mansfield

The Old Bag of Nails Pub - Mansfield, located at 625 Lexington Ave # 7 in Mansfield, OH, offers a casual dining experience. While categorized under 'Chinese Restaurant' on this platform, The Old Bag of Nails Pub is known for its pub fare and American cuisine. They can be contacted at (419) 775-5937 or +1 419-775-5937.

Based on recent customer reviews, the pub offers a laid-back and welcoming atmosphere with a fun, nostalgic vibe created by a background music selection of mostly 90s hits. Customers have noted being seated quickly upon arrival.

The service generally receives positive feedback, with staff described as friendly and attentive. One reviewer specifically praised the quick and efficient service from the bartender who was also waiting tables, noting her attentiveness to refilling drinks.

The food experiences appear to be mixed. The spinach dip and shrimp chips with cocktail sauce were highlighted as delicious and standout starters. The coleslaw was also well-received for its sweetness. However, the fish and chips were described as nicely fried but lacking significant flavor. Similarly, while the thin fries were crispy and well-cooked, they were also noted as missing a strong flavor despite being seasoned.

One significant point of criticism was the Reuben sandwich, which was described as poorly prepared for its price. The reviewer cited an overwhelming amount of sauerkraut, uneven chunks of corned beef, barely any Thousand Island dressing, and raw jalapeños served on the side instead of incorporated into the sandwich.

A notable advantage of The Old Bag of Nails Pub is that it is open on Sundays, which is not the case for many higher-quality restaurants in the Mansfield area. While some menu items may need improvement, the pub offers a potentially positive experience with its atmosphere and generally good service.

Stopped in here for lunch today with the folks. It was a good experience, but I wasn't blown away by the food. I ordered their fish and chips and got the thin fries, as opposed to the steak fries. The fish was battered and fried nicely. It had a nice crunch and the fish itself was tender. It didn't have a lot of flavor though. The fries were solid, but again, not a ton of flavor. They were fried well. They had a great crisp to them. But they simply packed a punch of flavor, which is weird because they were seasoned. The coleslaw was delicious. I like a sweet slaw and theirs is definitely on the sweet side. Really enjoyed it. Wish I was given a larger portion. But I'm simply being greedy there. We received great service from the lady behind the bar. I found it odd she was waiting tables, but she was quick and efficient. She did a great job of seeing when I had an empty cup and had me filled up quickly. All in all, a positive experience. I might go back here depending. They have an advantage of being open on a Sunday. Most of the higher quality restaurants here in Mansfield aren't.

We were seated quickly upon arrival, and I appreciated the laid-back, welcoming atmosphere. The background music—mostly hits from the '90s—added a fun nostalgic vibe that really set the tone for a relaxed dining experience. To start, the spinach dip was delicious and definitely a standout. The shrimp chips were also excellent—crispy and fresh—and the cocktail sauce had just the right amount of kick to enhance the flavor of the entree. However, I was very disappointed with the Reuben sandwich. For a menu item priced at $18, I expected something much more thoughtfully prepared. Unfortunately, it was a mess. The sauerkraut was overwhelming, the corned beef came in uneven chunks rather than proper slices, and the Thousand Island dressing was barely there. I had requested jalapeños to be added, and instead of being incorporated into the sandwich, they were served raw and on the side. It felt more like an afterthought than a custom order. If a kitchen isn’t able to prepare a classic sandwich like a Reuben properly, it might be best to remove it from the menu rather than leave customers paying premium prices for something that falls short of even basic expectations. That said, the staff was friendly and attentive, and our server did a great job throughout the meal. There’s definitely potential here, especially with the strong starters and atmosphere, but the execution of key menu items needs serious attention.

We recently hosted our post-season after party for Ohio Social Sports' Sand Volleyball League at Old Bag and the experience exceeded all expectations. From start to finish, the service was exceptional. Our waitress, Kim, deserves special recognition for her outstanding hospitality. Despite it being her day off, Kim came in with a smile, a positive attitude, and provided attentive service throughout the evening. Her dedication truly made our gathering memorable. I must also commend the manager, Amie who went above and beyond to ensure our event was a success. Despite facing challenges with staffing shortages in the days leading up to our party, Amie handled everything with professionalism and grace. She personally ensured that every detail was taken care of, from menu arrangements to accommodating our specific requests. Amie's friendly demeanor and proactive approach made us feel welcomed and valued as guests. The food served was perfectly suited for our group. We enjoyed a variety of appetizers including artichoke dip with chips, fried mushrooms, potato skins, cheese curds, potstickers, and pretzel bites. Each dish was freshly prepared, flavorful, and served promptly. Overall, our experience at Old Bag of Nails was nothing short of excellent. The combination of great food, exceptional service from Kim and Amie, and a welcoming atmosphere made it the best gathering our company has had to date. We look forward to returning and highly recommend Old Bag of Nails for any event or casual dining experience in Mansfield.

I was very disappointed with my food today. I ordered lobster rolls, They cost twenty five dollars for two portions in hot dog sized buns. I was told they would be hot, but they were at best tepid. The lobster was cooked correctly. But the entire sandwich was unseasoned. Basically I got a little bit of lobster in a whole lot of mayonnaise. Way too much money for not enough of anything.
