Customers have shared varied experiences. One reviewer from North Carolina found the service quick for a weekday and the food arrived fast with "generous" portions. They noted that the "jerk chicken was flavorful but lacked spice," the "cabbage was good but could have been more savory," and the "mac and cheese was very good, though a bit on the salty side." Overall, they felt "the food was great" and would "definitely return." Parking was noted as "limited" due to the busy road.

Another customer visited based on a coworker's recommendation for West Indian food similar to that in NYC. While acknowledging that nothing would be exactly the same, the coworker suggested The Mayne Dish was the closest to his mother's cooking. This reviewer noted "parking in the back" and that it's primarily a "take out restaraunt with seating upstairs." They appreciated the "fish tank and decor" which gave "Real island vibes." They tried the "OX tails ($25 small) with rice and beans and mac n Cheese," finding the "rice was the best caribean rice Ive had down here and the Mac n Cheese was on point. Very cheesy." The oxtails were "good but def not what I'm used to," noting they had "a lot of fat on it and were small." They also enjoyed a "beef patty with cocobread ($6) and a carrot punch." For their fiancé, they ordered the "Jerk Chicken ($15 lrg), rice and beans and plantains with a Jamaican pineapple soda," with the rice again being "on point." The jerk chicken was "good but not what I'm used to," with the sauce being "a bit sweet like barbeque." The plantains were "ok." Overall, this reviewer would "definiatly recommend going to Mayne Dish" for its "Authentic Jamaican Vibes and good food."

Based on these reviews, The Mayne Dish in Wilmington, DE, offers a Caribbean, specifically Jamaican, dining experience with quick weekday service and generous portions. The restaurant has a casual, take-out focused setup with upstairs seating and an island-themed decor. Originally from North Carolina, I was in the area and decided to give this spot a try. Parking is limited, as it’s located off a busy road. Service was quick for a weekday, and the food arrived fast. The portions were generous—the jerk chicken was flavorful but lacked spice. The cabbage was good but could have been more savory, while the mac and cheese was very good, though a bit on the salty side. Overall, the food was great, and I’d definitely return.

Came to Mayne Dish by a recommendation from a coworker. I asked for west indian food that was like NYC. He said nothing is gonna be like NYC but Mayne is the closest to his moms cooking. Parking in the back. This is a take out restaraunt with seating upstairs. I love the fish tank and decor. Real island vibes. I had the OX tails ($25 small) with rice and beans and mac n Cheese. The rice was the best caribean rice Ive had down here and the Mac n Cheese was on point. Very cheesy. The oxtails was good but def not what I'm used to. They had a lot of fat on it and were small. Still good. I also got a beef patty with cocobread ($6) and a carrot punch... so good! Got my fiance the Jerk Chicken ($15 lrg), rice and beans and plantains with a Jamaican pineapple soda. Again rice was on point. The jerk chicken was good but not what I'm used to. The sauce was a bit sweet like barbeque. Plantains were ok. Overall I would definiatly recommend going to Mayne Dish. Authentic Jamaican Vibes and good food.

I had a pleasant experience at Mayne Dish! I ordered oxtail with rice & peas with cabbage. It was flavorful, with just the right amount of spiciness. The warm, inviting, clean atmosphere made it a spot to sit and enjoy your meal. The staff was equally impressive—friendly, attentive, and pleasant throughout my visit. Mayne Dish is a must-visit if you’re looking for a restaurant that serves great Jamaica 🇯🇲 cuisine in a welcoming environment. Highly recommended!

We had very high expectations based on other reviews and agreed that the food was good. It wasn't the best we've had, but it definitely was good. The portions are great for the price, and the coco bread was so fresh and delicious. There aren't many places to sit and eat, so it's more of a take out spot, but you do have the option if you want to eat there.

Curried goat is amazing and best in town hands down. Oxtail, to be completely honest TJ’s is better. I’ve had all Jamaican in town. - Please have DG ginger beer for $2.50, matching TJ’s. $4 insane.
