The Golden Bowl

Just want to give everyone a heads up that my family ate at Golden Bowl Oak park last night, and a member of my family is now exhibiting food poisoning symptoms. The family memeber had the beef chow fun. I did call the restaurant to alert them, as you are supposed to do, and the response was “tell him to go to the doctor because no one else got sick from our food ever”. As someone who works for a kitchen and has been through servsafe certifications many times, this is absolutely not the reply a responsible restaurant provides. I was not asking for a refund, or to be made whole, just simply alerting the restaurant in case they had other complaints or perhaps an ingredient in the dish wasn’t properly washed/stored. Restaurants are supposed to report any food poisoning complaints to the health department, whether they are “unfounded” or not. I will be submitting a report to Oakland County, per regulatory authority guidelines. Foodborne illness can happen so easily no matter how hard a restaurant tries, however the response from Golden Bowl was very concerning.

I would love to give this restaurant more stars yet I can't after insanely ordering Almond or Sweet and Sour chicken multiple times because of how good the other meal items taste. I ordered a combination plate that included Sweet and Sour chicken that upon getting home to eat I noticed overcooked, dry chicken that appears to have been re-fried after sitting around ready to be reheated with the deep fryer. It was hard and stringy. What a disappointment.

My whole order was not good sweet and sour shrimp was soggy rice was terrible shrimp egg foo young was ok I've been going there for years never this bad!

Ok so I was first introduced to this restaurant many years ago when I was about 14 or 15 and loved it ever since. The food was tremendous and I fell in love with it to the point I was hooked and a been a fan ever since. Best Chinese food out their and the best part no dogs or cats being served up in the boxes huge win! 👍👍👍

No dine-in, just carry-out. I ordered Gai Kow & Almond Chicken combination with Pork Fried Rice, yellow gravy and Wonton soup with extra wontons. The pork in the fried rice was dry, dark and tasted dry. Gai Kow was delicious Veggies good & crispy Almond Chicken was great.. just too much breading. Wonton soup is delicious as well. Dumplings were just rt not doughy green onions were crispy. The broth was to die for. I can buy when I'm sick. Overall it was good. I will return to try something else.
