About The Chinese Kitchen

The Chinese Kitchen, located at 3426 Clayton Rd, Concord, CA 94519, USA, stands as a noteworthy establishment in the local Chinese Restaurant category. With a history stretching back to 1953, this restaurant has been serving the Concord community for over six decades. You can reach them at (925) 682-1825 or their mobile number +1 925-682-1825 for inquiries, takeout orders, or delivery information.

Based on customer reviews, the environment of The Chinese Kitchen is described as unassuming, with one reviewer even referring to it as a "hole in the wall." This suggests that the focus is more on the food and service rather than elaborate décor. While one customer noted that the tables were "a tad sticky," this seems to be a minor point compared to the overall positive sentiment regarding the food. It's important for potential diners to be aware that the ambiance might be basic and not the primary draw of this establishment.

The service at The Chinese Kitchen appears to be a point of mixed feedback. One reviewer described the service as "unenthusiastic," suggesting that the staff, possibly the owner-operators, might seem tired. Another reviewer's experience was limited to interacting with "the only employee present," who unfortunately could not accommodate a request for half orders. This indicates that the service might be functional but not particularly warm or flexible. However, the long tenure of the current owner, Wayland, who has been involved with the restaurant for 27 years and even acts as the delivery driver, suggests a level of dedication and commitment to the business despite any perceived lack of enthusiasm in the front-of-house interactions.

Despite the less-than-stellar remarks about the décor and service, the standout feature of The Chinese Kitchen is consistently highlighted as the quality of its food. One enthusiastic customer proclaimed it "the best Chinese restaurant I've found so far in northeast Concord," especially praising their "hot and sour soup" as the best in the area, noting that it is genuinely "hot and sour." Another reviewer, who stumbled upon the restaurant late on a Sunday evening, was initially surprised by the number of positive reviews despite the empty dining area. Their subsequent order, which included BBQ pork fried rice, chicken chow mein, orange chicken, egg rolls, and chicken wings, was reported to be "really good." While they found the rice slightly dry due to the BBQ pork, the chow mein and orange chicken were described as perfect and delicious, respectively. This positive feedback on the food quality reinforces the notion that The Chinese Kitchen excels in its culinary offerings.

A significant feature of The Chinese Kitchen is its long-standing history within the Concord community. Operating as a Chinese restaurant at the same location since 1953, it has witnessed changes in ownership over the years. The current owner, Wayland, began working there with his father 27 years ago, highlighting a sense of continuity and tradition. The restaurant also caters to customers who prefer to dine at home, offering both takeout and delivery services, with Wayland himself often taking on the role of the delivery driver. This focus on takeout and delivery might explain why the dining area was empty during one reviewer's visit, suggesting a strong local following for their at-home dining options.

Currently, no specific promotional information is available in the provided reviews. However, the consistent praise for the food quality, coupled with its long history and established takeout/delivery services, serves as a strong indication of its value to the local community. The fact that customers are willing to overlook the unassuming environment and less-than-enthusiastic service for the sake of the food speaks volumes about the culinary strengths of The Chinese Kitchen. Local users in Concord seeking authentic and flavorful Chinese cuisine, particularly for takeout or delivery, should consider The Chinese Kitchen based on the positive food reviews and its deep roots in the community. While the dine-in experience might not be the primary focus, the quality of the dishes appears to be the main draw, making it a "happy exception" for those seeking good Chinese food in the northeast Concord area. For any current promotions or specific menu inquiries, contacting the restaurant directly at (925) 682-1825 or +1 925-682-1825 is recommended.

Believe it or not, this is the best Chinese restaurant I've found so far in northeast Concord. One would not suspect this hole in the wall of being so. For some reason, the Chinese restaurants east if the Oakland hills are lackluster (excepting Great Wall) in Lafayette. The Chinese Kitchen is a happy exception. You will be underwhelmed by the decor. And, unfortunately, the tables are a tad sticky, and the service unenthusiastic - I suspect the owner-operators could use a good night's sleep. HOWEVER, the food is good. Their hot and sour soup is hot and sour, which is saying something, and the best I've had in the area. The owner, Wayland, has been at the restaurant for 27 years, when he began working it with his father. This place has been a Chinese restaurant since 1953. The original owners, father and son, retired and died. The restaurant does a good deal of takeout and delivery. Wayland serves as the delivery driver.

stumbled across this place while doing my laundry across the street. Late Sunday evening and it was still open for business , SO I immediately scoped out the Reviews. I was Pleasantly Surprised that this place had sooo many good reviews but was empty! we took a chance &Ordered anyways . I requested half orders bat was told NO by the only employee present.Only two of US so I was disappointed that I couldn't but Sucked it up anyways ended up paying few cents Short of $50...for food for two! ouch 🙁However . the food was really good! ordered BBQ pork fried rice chicken Chow men orange chicken egg rolls &chicken wings. Rice slightly dry do to the BBQ pork but the Chow mein was perfect. So Next time I will order the chicken fried rice too the Orange Chicken was delicious too! my only complaint is not offering smaller portions because We had so much leftover that I could still feed a small army! But other than that very good and will definitely be back!

I have gotten food poisoning twice from this restaurant within the past 2 years. Their products are not fresh! I will never go there again.

Wow! Tried a few Chinese food places here and this one is by far the most authentic and delicious Chinese food meal I’ve had in a long time! They recommended the chicken wings as an appetizer and it was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend!

Awesome food, everytime!! Great lunch specials during the week. My favorite is House Chow Mien, Honey Walnut Prawns & Broccoli Beef. Very nice owners, too.
