Our favorite Thai restaurant was closed this evening (Vientiane Noodle Shop) so we looked for a Thai place we hadn't been to before and found Thai Orchid. Nice looking place, had a small somewhat private room that was reserved for a party, a karaoke section, a bar, and a hallway with what looked like digital video games. I ordered Red Curry and my boyfriend had Fried Rice, both to-go. We liked our dishes, they were fine. Mine was a bit on the sweet side, so if you like that flavoring, you'll be ok with Red Curry. I like a more savory curry, so I'd give this 3 stars. I did like that they noted "Fish Sauce" in the Papaya Salad on the menu, so I avoided that (because I'm vegan). The Fried Rice dish was also ok. We ordered ahead and the food was ready for pickup when we arrived. Parking was not a problem at 6 p.m. on a weeknight, the lot was not full. My search for authentic Haw Mok Gai (Tofu) continues and the closest thing I've found to it is at Vientiane Noodle Shop, the dish called Kang Pet. If anyone knows where this dish is located, please let me know. It used to be at Bangkok Orchid and I read in another review here that Thai Orchid's chef is rumored to have been trained by Thai Joe or his wife, owners of Bangkok Orchid. If that's so, I'll contact them and see if they can make Haw Mok Gai, with Tofu instead. I miss that dish so much!

Thai food is usually hit or miss. I feel the food here hits all the notes. The sweet and sour chicken was crispy, the pork rice was tasty and the Satay was very good. The server was very polite and responsive. The atmosphere near the table was very nice. There are gaming machines in the back by the bar which took away a little from the atmosphere, but then again I am surs they her their use. The bar was well stocked, and well maintained. The menu gives a lot of choices, which is nice. Overall, it is worth a try.

Despite the negative reviews I've heard, I actually like their Thai/Lao dishes after trying this place myself. Ordered the Pad Kra Pow and Thai ice tea, I wouldn't recommend. What I can recommend is their Pad See Ew and fried rice, so flavorful and so good! I have also tried their beef pho, thought the broth had too much salt added. Service was fast, waitress was friendly and attentive. The overall place is always clean and tidy (3rd time dining here, so far), with plenty of indoor seating and an outdoor uncovered patio seating. There's also a somewhat private dining room to accommodate a large party. I didn't call the restaurant back in regards to finding a piece of metal dish scrub in one of my dish (after getting home). I know mistakes happen, but please be more careful.

This was such a disappointment. I was extremely excited for my green curry, ordered take out, so this is really for the food only. First, there were no utensils. This is a huge pet peeve of mine, you cannot assume that everyone is eating at home. I am on a work trip, eating in a hotel, and had to beg and ask around for silverware. Egg rolls were delivered still crispy, so we were off to a decent start. Bland and nothing special, but crispy. Curry I ordered with tofu and paid extra for seafood. Not a single piece. The curry was extremely watery and bland, not enough flavor and no spice at all. I ordered a 3, after second guessing a 4, because I really wanted the flavor. This was green water. The description did not say it came with rice, although I assumed it would, I wanted to make sure I had some so ordered a side. It would be helpful if you added that to your online description. I specifically ordered from here because they offered two kinds of curry, and the other Thai restaurants in the area only had noodles. The saving grace was the mango sticky rice was great. I would not order from here again, it missed on so many levels. Also because I had it delivered it was over $50. And no cravings were satisfied.
