About Tenglong Chinese Restaurant

Tenglong Chinese Restaurant is a local Chinese restaurant situated at 208 Clement Street in San Francisco. Located in a neighborhood setting, Tenglong offers a dining option for those seeking Chinese cuisine in the area. The restaurant operates from a physical location on Clement Street, providing both the possibility for customers to dine on-site and the convenience of ordering food for takeout.

Based on recent customer feedback, experiences at Tenglong Chinese Restaurant appear to be varied. One customer, who visited during prime dinner time on New Year's Day, described the restaurant as having a small dining area with an estimated capacity of 8 to 10 tables and noted that there was only one table occupied at the time. This observation suggests that the restaurant might be a smaller establishment or that it experienced lower than usual patronage on that particular evening.

The service experience reported by this customer included being greeted by a lady at the register who took their order. Opting for takeout after observing the premises, the customer ordered pork chow mein and a beer while waiting. During the wait, the customer noted an uncomfortable encounter with an individual, assumed to be a family member or staff member, who was slumped by the register and stared silently, creating an uneasy atmosphere.

Upon receiving the takeout order and opening it outside, the customer found a lack of basic provisions such as napkins and was provided with thin chopsticks and a small amount of chili sauce, estimated to be around one ounce. These details point to potential shortcomings in the provision of necessary accompaniments for a takeout meal.

The most critical feedback from this particular customer concerned the quality of the food itself. The pork chow mein, which was the dish the customer specifically craved, was described as "just plain bad." The noodles were reported to be bland and constituted the majority of the dish, with a significant lack of other ingredients. Specifically, the customer counted only three bites of pork and a minimal amount of vegetables, consisting of just two or three shreds of carrots. Upon reaching the bottom of the plate, a few more scraps of pork and a small piece of green onion were found. This experience starkly contrasted with the customer's expectation of good chow mein, which typically includes a generous amount of both meat and vegetables. The price of the dish, nearly $20, was deemed disproportionately high given the perceived lack of quality and ingredients.

In stark contrast to this negative experience, another customer review offers a positive perspective. This reviewer lauded the "great food + atmosphere" and described the husband and wife duo operating the restaurant as a "great addition to the neighborhood." They encouraged community support for small businesses like Tenglong, stating that the food was "great and satisfying." This feedback suggests that some customers have had positive experiences with both the culinary offerings and the ambiance of the restaurant, potentially indicating variability in the restaurant's performance or differing customer expectations.

Considering these contrasting reviews, it is challenging to form a definitive overall assessment of Tenglong Chinese Restaurant based solely on this limited information. The negative review highlights concerns regarding food quality, ingredient quantity, pricing, and potentially the atmosphere and service aspects related to takeout provisions. On the other hand, the positive review praises the food and atmosphere, emphasizing the value of supporting local small businesses. These differing opinions may reflect inconsistencies in the restaurant's offerings or varying standards and preferences among customers.

Without further information, such as details about the specific menu items beyond pork chow mein and the general style of Chinese cuisine offered (e.g., Cantonese, Sichuan, etc.), it is difficult to elaborate on the restaurant's features. Similarly, no promotional information is available from the provided reviews. Potential customers might need to consider these differing viewpoints and perhaps try the restaurant themselves to form their own opinion. Contacting Tenglong Chinese Restaurant directly at (415) 666-3515 or +1 415-666-3515 could provide additional insights into their current menu, service offerings, and any ongoing promotions.

In conclusion, Tenglong Chinese Restaurant on Clement Street in San Francisco appears to be a neighborhood establishment with a small dining area offering Chinese cuisine for both dine-in and takeout. Customer reviews present contrasting experiences, with one highlighting significant dissatisfaction with the pork chow mein and the overall service for a takeout order, while another praises the food and atmosphere and encourages local support. Potential patrons may wish to consider these varying perspectives when deciding whether to visit Tenglong Chinese Restaurant.

So I was hungry for some pork chow mein and in the area. Other reviews said this place was good, so I stopped in. Boy, were they wrong... First off, it was prime evening dinner time on New Years Day. There was only 1 table eating in the place. It is a small dining area where 8 maybe 10 tables. The lady at the register greeted me and took my order, which after seeing the place, I ordered to go instead of eating there. I ordered the pork chow mein that I was craving and a beer while I waited. There was (what I assume to be a family member or staff member) with his head down and slumped by the register, and a very unhappy vibe coming from him, not saying anything but staring at me. This was uncomfortable, to say the least, but it gets even worse.... I get my order and go outside. I open the bag, and there are no napkins. The chopsticks are super thin and can barely hold food, and there is o ly a very small thing of a chili sauce.. maybe one ounce at best. The food itself was just plain bad. The noodles were bland, and that's ALL THERE WAS....NOODLES.... I ate the entire plate, and it only had 3 bites of pork and no veggies besides a couple ( literally 2 or 3) shreds of carrots . When I finally got to tell the bottom of the plate, there were a few more scraps of pork and a small piece of green onion... (see picture included). When I think of good chow mein, I can see plenty of meat and veggies. This was the exact opposite. For almost $20, I expect a lot more than bland noodles and no meat and veggies. If I could give the place 0 stars, I would... Avoid this place if you can help it.

Came for a light dinner with my Aunt, ordering the Dry fried wings along with the Singapore style noodles. Service was friendly and the flavors of both the wings and the noodles were delicious. It's a cozy intimate vibe if you're dining in. I'll likely return to try more of the menu the next foggy night when I don't feel like cooking.
