About Tendy's Garden

Tendy's Garden is a Chinese restaurant located at 920 E 1st St in Port Angeles, Washington (98362). As a Chinese restaurant serving the local community, Tendy's Garden aims to provide a range of American-style Chinese dishes. They can be contacted at (360) 452-3322 for inquiries or to place orders.

The online reviews for Tendy's Garden present contrasting experiences, particularly regarding the overall atmosphere and customer service, alongside positive feedback about the food itself. One reviewer expressed immense satisfaction, enthusiastically urging others to "RUN, do not walk, to Tendy's!" They described their meal as an "OMG" experience, highlighting their preference for American-style Chinese food, a cuisine they grew up with in NYC. This reviewer, having lived in Florida and Seattle, stated they hadn't found anything comparable until discovering Tendy's. Specific dishes that received high praise included the "fresh" and "flavorful" chicken and broccoli, the "perfect" hot and sour soup, and the sweet and sour pork with the "perfect crunch." They were even impressed by the fortune cookies and declared their intention to return to Port Angeles solely to dine at Tendy's Garden. This review strongly suggests that Tendy's Garden excels in the quality and taste of its American-style Chinese cuisine.

However, another reviewer who visited with their family (including young children aged 4, 2, and a baby) had a significantly different experience concerning the atmosphere. While they found the food to be "fine" and had "no problem eating it," they reported feeling "so uncomfortable being there!" Despite emphasizing that their children are "VERY well behave" and that they ensured they were not loud or messy, the family felt "sooo unwelcome" despite the restaurant not being busy. The reviewer recounted a specific incident where their son took three sugar packets to play with, and an older lady (presumably a staff member) took them away and put them back without a word. The reviewer described the overall experience as filled with unwelcoming looks and similar subtle negative interactions throughout their meal. As a result, they stated they would "not be willing to come back!" This review suggests a potential issue with the restaurant's atmosphere or staff interactions, particularly towards families with young children.

Based on these reviews, the environment at Tendy's Garden appears to be a point of contention. One reviewer's enthusiastic praise suggests a pleasant and perhaps nostalgic setting that complements the food. However, the other reviewer's strong feelings of being unwelcome indicate a potentially uncomfortable atmosphere, at least for families with young children, even if the children are well-behaved. It's possible that the restaurant caters more towards a certain demographic or has staff who are less accommodating to families with very young children.

In terms of services, Tendy's Garden likely offers dine-in, as both reviewers ate at the restaurant. The positive reviewer's takeout comment ("simply the best take out I've had...") might be from a previous experience or a general appreciation for their takeout quality, though their primary review was about a dine-in experience. It is reasonable to assume that Tendy's Garden also provides takeout services, as is common for many Chinese restaurants. Delivery services are not explicitly mentioned in these reviews, so it is unclear if they offer this option. To confirm their available services (dine-in, takeout, delivery) and any specific policies regarding families, it would be best to contact them directly at (360) 452-3322.

The features of Tendy's Garden, based on the positive review, include:

  • Excellent American-Style Chinese Food: Highly praised for its authenticity and flavor, comparable to that found in NYC.
  • Fresh Ingredients: The chicken and broccoli were noted for their freshness.
  • Well-Executed Dishes: The hot and sour soup and sweet and sour pork were described as perfect.
  • Even the Fortune Cookies are Good: Suggesting attention to detail even in the smaller aspects of the meal.

However, the negative review highlights a potential issue with:

  • Unwelcoming Atmosphere for Families with Young Children: Despite well-behaved children, the family felt uncomfortable due to unwelcoming looks and interactions from staff.

There is no information provided in these reviews about any specific promotional offers or specials at Tendy's Garden. To inquire about lunch specials, combination deals, or any other promotions they might be running, it would be best to contact the restaurant directly at their phone number. Checking local online directories or social media (if they have a presence) might also provide information on any current offers.

In conclusion, Tendy's Garden in Port Angeles, WA, appears to be a Chinese restaurant that excels in providing delicious American-style Chinese food, with high praise for dishes like chicken and broccoli, hot and sour soup, and sweet and sour pork. The positive reviewer's experience suggests a high level of food quality and authenticity. However, another reviewer experienced a significantly unwelcoming atmosphere while dining with young, well-behaved children, indicating a potential inconsistency in customer service or a less family-friendly environment. Prospective customers, particularly families with young children, may want to consider this feedback alongside the positive comments about the food. For those primarily focused on the quality of American-style Chinese cuisine, Tendy's Garden seems to be a strong contender in the Port Angeles area. Contacting the restaurant directly for information on their services, family policies, and any current promotions is recommended.

RUN, do not walk, to Tendy's! OMG, what an experience. American style Chinese food is my absolute favorite cuisine. I grew up eating it in NYC. After living in Florida for a long time, and recently Seattle; I haven't been able to find anything comparable until I found Tendy's. The chicken and broccoli was so fresh with lots of flavor. The hot and sour soup was perfect, and the sweet and sour pork had the perfect crunch to it. Even the fortune cookies were incredible. I'm coming back to Port Angeles just for this place!

I came with my family. 4yr, 2 yr, baby and husband. The food was fine and I had no problem eating it. But I felt so uncomfortable being there! My kids are VERY well behave and we make sure they are not loud, and leave no mess… but we felt soooo unwelcome despite being one of the only people there. While waiting for food my son had taken out three sugar packets to put in the back of his hot wheels truck. An older lady walked over and took the three sugars out and put them back in the dish and walked away. It was looks and things like that the whole meal. I would not be willing to come back!

I was amazed at how they decorated the place with a fake jackfruit tree with fruits too. The server was very attentive. We got the dinner option for weekend lunch. I like the crunch of the sweet and sour pork. I had to eat some of the cashew chicken off my partner’s plate since it tasted good. The food serving was huge but the fried rice that came with the meal was only in a cup. Wish they put more rice though. The place is voted one of the best Chinese restaurant in the area and it definitely is.

We are here in the 20th of April because we couldn’t find any other place to eat that was a decent sit down. The atmosphere was nice and welcoming, the place was clean, and the staff were accommodating. Unfortunately the food wasn’t good. The only food that was decent was the hot and sour soup. My husband & I had the combination platters and we got the fired potstickers & fried veggie egg rolls. The egg rolls tasted as of the oil was old and tasted kind of burnt, even though they weren’t. My sesame chicken was over the top with the sweet sauce, way too much, & my husband’s pork fried rice was super oily & didn’t taste good. His General Tso’s was not good either. Also, I got sick to my stomach in the way home from this place & I had I am pretty sure food poisoning for 24 hours, it was horrible because the 20th was my birthday. I would NOT recommend eating here.
