About Teikoku Restaurant
Located at 5492 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, USA, Teikoku Restaurant offers a diverse Asian culinary experience that extends beyond a traditional Chinese Restaurant, featuring sushi and Thai cuisine alongside other Asian dishes. You can make reservations or inquiries by calling (610) 644-8270 or +1 610-644-8270.
Based on customer reviews, Teikoku Restaurant can be quite busy, especially during peak times like Valentine's Day weekend, where wait times for seating can be around 45 minutes. However, many patrons find the wait to be justified by the quality of the food.
A significant highlight is the sushi, which is consistently described as fresh and tasty, with beautiful presentation. While the price point is on the higher end, customers generally feel it is worth it due to the food quality and generous portion sizes. One customer celebrated a friend's birthday here and praised the wait staff for being very nice and attentive.
Recommended dishes include the lobster fondue appetizer, the King Kong roll, and the bluefin tuna platter. While one customer felt the Thai green curry tasted microwaved (though the sauce was great), others enjoyed the mango sticky rice syrup with rum drink. Another highly recommended appetizer, if available, is the Ube bread, described as fluffy and delicious when paired with brown sugar butter.
Some dishes received less favorable reviews, with one customer finding the lobster dumplings and Teikoku rock shrimp appetizers to be "nothing special" and not something they would order again. However, the sushi and Chilean sea bass are strongly recommended.
In summary, Teikoku Restaurant offers a pleasant dining environment with attentive service and high-quality Asian cuisine, particularly excelling in fresh sushi and certain appetizers and main courses. While it may be pricier than some options and can get busy, the overall experience, especially with recommended dishes, seems to be positive for many diners. I came here on Valentine's Day weekend with my partner and it was pretty busy. It took us about 45 minutes to be seated but we were fine with the wait. When it came to the food, we were in love. The sushi was so fresh and tasty! Everything was presented beautifully and the price point was worth it. The only downside was that my partner felt like the Thai green curry dish felt microwaved, but the sauce was great. We ordered the lobster fondue appetizer, king Kong roll, bluefin tuna platter, Thai green curry, and a mango sticky rice syrup with rum drink. Delicious!
Went here to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The wait staff are very nice and very attentive. Prices are on the higher end but portion sizes are well worth the price along with the quality of food so I highly recommend. If you go while they still have the Ube bread, I highly recommend that as an appetizer. It was so fluffy and paired with the brown sugar butter, it was quite delicious. I will say though.. the lobster dumplings were nothing special. I probably wouldn’t get them again along with their teikoku rock shrimp appetizers. But I highly recommend their sushi and Chilean sea bass
-------- Update: Recently visited again, and again had an amazing experience! Here's our take on a few other dishes we tried. - Ube Cloud: the softest, warmest and purple-est bread ever with a very unique butter honey butter to go with it. (8.5/10) - Godzilla Roll: Was very curious about the strawberry, and combined with the other flavors of BBQ eel, tempura shrimp, etc, it was very unique for a sushi. (10/10) - Chay roll: Simply (10/10) - Wagyu Pho: The freshest ingredients whose fragrance wafted through the as the server brought the dish and was accentuated profusely after the server added the broth. So much balance! (11/10) - Tahitian Vanilla Bean Ice Cream: A great way to end the night. Even the size of the single scoop was just perfect! (10/10) Will definitely make future trips whenever possible! -------- Previous review: Had dinner with wifey here and it was absolutely lovely! Usually with a lot of big restaurant groups that own several restaurant brands you see a decline in service and quality, but this was the first time I've noticed such a restaurant group actually maintain their standards. We had the following: - Teikoku Rock Shrimp: Great texture and taste. Plentiful bowl to which was nice to pick at during appetizers. (9/10) - Tapas Platter: Everything on there was extremely flavorful. The gyoza was my favorite as the ginger tasted like it was allowed to marinate for a while. Only wish there was a tad more. (8/10) - Tom Yam Koong: Never tasted a broth like this before. The veggies it was made with also provided a light feel for the soup. (10/10) - Divers Scallops: Melt in your mouth well-crusted scallops. (10/10) - Thai Basil Lamb Chops: The Sauce, is all I have to say! But will also say, that the chops themselves were nicely done! While the mashed potatoes were great, wished it could have been paired with another side. (8/10) - Japanese Sweet Potato Fries: Unique glaze. (8/10) - Cheese'Z: Cheesecake. Interestingly airy texture, with same full flavor. Wish the portion was a tad larger, (but probably we were comfortably full after our dinner, so it was fine.) (9/10) - Passion Fruit Mochi: Really packed a punch! Never tried mochi like this. (10/10) - Low Key: A Zero-proof mocktail with a lovely citrus flavor! Always wish restaurants would use less ice so I can taste the drink fully for longer (9/10) - Tea & Cappuccino: Nice! (8/10) Overall we loved the atmosphere and layout of the restaurant. It does fill up even on a weekday. Also, portion sizes are respectable, so we appreciate it, like I said we were comfortably full after our dinner. Shout out to our great server Chris G!
Great experience at this restaurant. Our server was friendly and attentive. Never had to wait for the drinks or the check. The food came out quickly and everything was tasty. The duck was delicious. Crab spring roll was also a treat. Curry chicken had great flavor. And the sushi rolls were awesome.
We love teikoku. We go all the time. Tina is one of our favorite human beings. The entire staff is so kind. Don’t even get us started on how good the food is. You literally can’t go wrong with anything on their menu
