About Tasty Place Bakery & Cafe

Welcome to Tasty Place Bakery & Cafe, a Chinese restaurant located at 2306 S Wentworth Ave in Chicago. This establishment offers a diverse menu that includes both baked goods and a selection of Chinese dishes, providing a unique culinary experience for locals.

According to some enthusiastic reviews, the food at Tasty Place Bakery & Cafe can be absolutely incredible. One customer highly recommended the beef congee, praising its perfect seasoning, and the beef rib tip crepe (not a French crepe), which they found delicious, especially when paired with the soy sauce they described as the best they've ever had. The chicken feet in red bean were also highlighted for being juicy with a pleasant tingle. Additionally, the han egg bun was noted for its sweet and soft bread.

The atmosphere seems to foster a sense of community, with one reviewer mentioning it being busy in the morning and observing older patrons enjoying themselves. They also noted the willingness of customers to share tables, indicating a friendly environment. A significant advantage mentioned is the value for money, though it's important to note that Tasty Place Bakery & Cafe operates on a cash-only basis.

However, not all experiences have been consistently positive. A returning customer reported a recent visit where the Singapore noodles were oily, lacked meat, and were excessively spicy, almost inedible, even for someone accustomed to Korean spicy food. This contrasts with their usual enjoyment of dishes like beef stirred flat rice noodles, salted fish and chicken fried rice, and the baked BBQ buns.

In summary, Tasty Place Bakery & Cafe offers a range of Chinese baked goods and dishes, with some customers raving about the flavor and value, while others have experienced inconsistencies in food quality. The environment appears to be community-oriented and bustling. Remember to bring cash as it is a cash-only establishment. The food is absolutely incredible!! I got beef congee that was seasoned sooo perfectly, had just the right amount of salt and flavors to not get bored of any bite. Friend got the Beef rib tip crepe and it was delicious, (its not a french crepe!!) and paired sooooo well with their soy sauce which was also the best soy sauce I've ever had!! Also got the chicken feet in red bean, so juicy and left just the smallest satisfying tingle on my lips. Theyre han egg bun was so delicious too, the bread is a sweet soft and so perfect. It was busy in the morning so finding a seat was a little awkward but people had no issue moving or sitting in a table with strangers. It was also so nice seeing older people just enjoying their community in an establishment. Absolutely a MUST eat!!! Sooooo value too, but cash only!

Heads up: cash only. We been coming here for cheap and good food for a while now. But the most recent visit the food was terrible. Our Singapore noodles was oily, almost no meats on it and super spicy, I mean super spicy. We eat Korean spicy food all the time so can handle them. But this dish was almost un-eatable. Or normal dish are beef stirred flat rice noodles and salted fish and chicken fried rice. Good BBQ buns too. The baked version.

We arrived Chinatown early and wasn’t quite ready for lunch yet so we order SOE dim sum and a fried flat noodles with gravy. The noodle is super tasty and the dim sum taste is reasonable. With the price they offer, nothing to complain about. On the second day we went back for more dishes to go, the portion is huge and the taste is really really good. We will definitely back if we visit Chicago again.

Very cozy place with tasty and affordable food. We ordered six dishes plus smoothie. You can easily get a delicious meal under 10 dollars. My salt and pepper tofu could use a bit more veggies though. The sesame chicken was a tad too sweet. Still, would highly recommend visiting.
