About Taste of China

Located at 2645 N Berkeley Lake Rd NW E-135, Duluth, GA 30096, USA, Taste of China is a Chinese restaurant serving the local Duluth area. According to one review, if you are seeking authentic Chinese cuisine, Taste of China is a place to try. The Fried Pork Fuzhou Style (荔枝肉) is highly recommended, described as wonderfully crispy, crunchy, and savory, with a sweet and sour fried flavor. Another dish mentioned is the Crab with Sweet Sticky Rice, noted for its good taste but also being on the pricier side. The reviewer indicated that other foods on the menu are also good.

However, another recent review presents a significantly contrasting experience. This customer advised people of color or those dining with people of color to avoid the restaurant, alleging racist behavior from the servers and describing a horrible atmosphere with no music and the sound of the heater. The reviewer reported feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable due to the servers' demeanor. Despite acknowledging that the food was good, the negative atmosphere reportedly detracted from the dining experience, with some food described as lukewarm and possibly microwaved. This reviewer also found the prices to be too high for the perceived service and food quality and strongly recommended not visiting the establishment.

Taste of China can be contacted at (678) 899-3288 or +1 678-899-3288. Potential customers should consider the contrasting recent reviews regarding the dining atmosphere and service when making a decision to visit.

If you are looking for a restaurant that serves authentic chinese food in Duluth, you should definitely try Taste of China! I highly recommend the fried pork Fuzhou Style 荔枝肉! Wonderfully crispy, crunchy and savory! If you would like to try a dish that is sweet, sour and fried, this is definitely a must! Another dish that tastes really good is the crab with sweet sticky rice but it’s a bit on the pricier side. The other foods are good too!

do not go into this restaurant if you’re a person of color or are coming with people of color - the servers are definitely racist. the atmosphere was horrible, there’s literally no music and we just heard the sounds of the heater running. the servers had a demeanor to them that made us very uncomfortable, almost like they didn’t want us there. super unwelcoming. even though the food was good, the atmosphere was so bad that it made the food taste worse. some of the food was lukewarm and seemed microwaved. the prices were way too expensive for this type of service and food quality. do not come here.

Just saw other people review and I want to add here I tried to not think that what it is but it seems this place is RACIST, my husband is American he walked in first with our kids, and my mom and I go in after. My husband feel we not get service because we are not Chinese enough for them. I tried to not think that way but now I am. First time dining in and we are not impressed with the service and attitude. I am Chinese we go eat out to celebrate the Chinese New Year. I found this restaurant on the search so decided to give it a try. When arrived there, a couple of tables just left so they tried to clean the tables, it small restaurant. We wait by the door until one girl sits us down at the table right by the door. We got the menu, looked through it, and waited for someone to come so we could order drinks and food. We had been waiting for a while they seemed busy cleaning the other table about 20 minutes later, we still waiting, and the other two parties came in. They didn't make reservations like us. They have a menu and plates. Then 5 minutes later, the server lady go take their orders. Meanwhile, we still have not be able to order anything they totally ignored us. I have to call the guy that cleaning the table near by and let him know we been here for 30 minutes already and she has not come to get our order and just take other people first. So he call her....but this what she said "oh are you ready to order?" I told her yes and we been waiting and no one come to take orders. She said "oh I don't know, I go whomever call me first" I said " lhow you not know you saw us sit here before they come, you guys the one sit us on this table" Then she take our orders....I thought if the food was good I would let it go. The food is good, everything we ordered is good..... But ....when the first dish comes which is the Peking duck. And this is what she said " Here someone ordered it but I give you first okay" and repeated it two times with attitude. I have been I don't need that attitude and that is not how it is supposed to be if they learn how to manage the restaurant and take care of the customers by ordering who seats first, these issues will not happen from the beginning. If it is in different situations that other parties come later but are ready to order, that I understand. But in this situation, we have been waiting to order before they came and NO ONE came to take orders.

This was my inaugural visit to the restaurant, despite having frequented the plaza before. The interior design, evidently influenced by the Chinese owner, welcomed a predominantly Chinese clientele. The menu was considerately translated into Korean for ease of ordering. Opting for Korean-style Chinese dishes—Black Bean Noodles (짜장면) and House Fried Rice—the flavors were delightful, portions ample, yet the prices seemed steep, almost double the expected cost. While the experience was enjoyable, the pricing might deter a return for the same dishes.

The roast duck here is the real deal here. This place feels like a hidden gem because of the small plaza it’s in. Between my girlfriend and I, we got the mapo tofu , half a duck , and bokchoy . All the dishes were outstanding. Definitely a restaurant that’s worth going to if your ever craving authentic Chinese .
