About Taste of China

Welcome to Taste of China, a Chinese restaurant located at 8 NJ-5 in Palisades Park, New Jersey. As part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Taste of China aims to serve the local community with a variety of Chinese dishes. However, recent customer reviews available online present a concerning picture regarding both the quality of some food items and the customer service experience. Potential local users should carefully consider these recent experiences when deciding whether to patronize this establishment.

One customer's review details a significant issue with their order. They reported ordering boneless spare ribs but instead received what they described as "beef jerky." This indicates a potential error in order fulfillment or a significant deviation from the expected dish. When the customer sought a replacement, the response from the owner, as recounted in the review, was particularly troubling. The owner allegedly advised the customer to "ask me not to burn the meat next time because some people like it burnt." This response is problematic for several reasons. Firstly, it fails to acknowledge the mistake of providing beef jerky instead of spare ribs. Secondly, it suggests that serving burnt meat is a deliberate practice catering to certain preferences, rather than an indication of overcooking. Finally, it places the onus on the customer to preemptively request properly cooked food, rather than the restaurant ensuring quality standards. This interaction raises serious concerns about the restaurant's attention to detail, quality control, and customer service approach when issues arise.

Another customer shared an overwhelmingly negative experience, stating that it was "terrible" and prompted them to leave a rare bad review. This customer ordered the sesame chicken, a popular American-Chinese dish, and found it to be "absolutely disgusting." They further elaborated that the chicken was either "hard or super chewy," indicating significant issues with the texture and likely the preparation of the dish. The pork fried rice, another standard offering, was described as "edible at best," suggesting a mediocre quality that did not meet expectations. The reviewer concluded with a strong recommendation to the restaurant to "please stop serving customers whatever it is you call sesame chicken!" This forceful statement underscores the extreme dissatisfaction with the quality of this particular dish and suggests a potentially widespread problem with its preparation.

Given these two recent and highly critical reviews, it is challenging to provide a positive or encouraging introduction to Taste of China based solely on this information. The feedback points to significant issues with food quality, order accuracy, and customer service response to complaints. While these are just two individual experiences, they are stark and raise red flags for potential new customers.

Without additional information or positive reviews to balance these negative accounts, it is impossible to objectively describe the environment, services, or features of Taste of China in a favorable light. The existing feedback focuses almost entirely on negative aspects of the food and service. Therefore, local users seeking a Chinese restaurant in Palisades Park should be aware of these recent experiences.

It is important to note that these reviews do not provide any insight into the ambiance or cleanliness of the restaurant, the speed of service, or the variety and quality of other dishes on the menu. However, the severe nature of the complaints regarding specific items and the owner's response to a complaint about a significant order error are serious concerns that cannot be ignored.

Similarly, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers or special features that Taste of China might provide. In light of the negative feedback, any such information would need to be weighed against the reported issues with food quality and customer service.

For local users in Palisades Park considering Taste of China, the available recent reviews paint a concerning picture. The reported incidents of receiving the wrong food item (beef jerky instead of boneless spare ribs) and the extremely poor quality of the sesame chicken, coupled with an unhelpful and dismissive response from the owner regarding a complaint, should give potential customers pause. While every restaurant can have an off day or a dissatisfied customer, these reviews highlight fundamental issues with food preparation and customer relations that warrant careful consideration.

If you are a local resident looking for a Chinese restaurant in the area, it would be prudent to perhaps explore other options with more consistently positive recent feedback. Should you choose to consider Taste of China, it might be advisable to inquire specifically about the preparation of dishes you are interested in and to be prepared for potential inconsistencies based on the experiences shared by other customers.

To contact Taste of China, you can call them at (201) 943-8228 or their mobile number +1 201-943-8228. Their address is 8 NJ-5, Palisades Park, NJ 07650, USA. If you do choose to patronize this establishment, it would be wise to carefully check your order upon receipt and to be prepared to address any quality issues that may arise. Given the recent negative feedback, proceeding with caution would be advisable for local users.

I rarely ever leave bad reviews but this was a terrible experience. I ordered the sesame chicken and it was absolutely disgusting. It was either hard or super chewy. The pork fried rice was edible at best. Please stop serving customers whatever it is you call sesame chicken!

This used to be a good place. I don’t know what happened.. I just ordered food for me and My Boys got home after picking it up. Their sweet-and-sour chicken was burnt. My Hunan special was full of vegetables all wilted and nasty. I counted three lonely shrimp with a few slices of pork. I know times are rough, but if I’m gonna pay you about $50 for food, give me food.. the worst part was that they don’t even give eggrolls with the combination platters anymore like they used to They give tiny spring rolls now.. I’ll never go back to this place again and I suggest you steer clear of taste of China as well. TERRIBLE

For what I ordered (steamed chicken with broccoli - garlic sauce on the side for dipping as you like - or don't), it's very good. The chicken when steamed (if it is good) is how you can measure if the restaurant is any good and it defintely passed the test. Most other Chinese restaurants chicken when steamed (with no sauce on it and eaten) will taste gamey and just not edible in my book. This was NOT the case. Other than that, the parking is non existent in the later hours till closing in front of the restaurant as the parking is shared with tenants of the building above and other restaurants in the same location. Not good for being on route 5 I can assure you, but still doable. Lastly, I know it's a Chinese restaurant, but they rush you off the phone when ordering without you finishing a thought or a sentence. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THAT. Have one more minute of patience and you might make more money per order. An extreme turn off when ordering anywhere really. Lastly, NO DELIVERY. Take this all into consideration and see if it's right with you. Any updates as to all items ordered, I will update here shortly. Happy food hunting.... ***This is strictly an order to pick up type spot as the inside seating is small and needs a refresh if you ask me and some cleaning.
