Taste of China caters to individuals and families in the Raleigh area looking for Chinese cuisine. While the primary service appears to be takeout, the possibility of dine-in is not excluded, though the provided reviews do not offer specific details about the dining environment. The restaurant aims to provide a range of Chinese dishes, as suggested by the mention of specific menu items like sesame chicken and kung bo chicken.

Based on recent customer feedback, the experiences at Taste of China in Raleigh appear to be mixed, with several concerns raised about the food quality and service. One customer had a particularly negative experience with the sesame chicken, describing it as "some of the worst I've had." They noted that the chicken was overcooked and stringy, and the sauce had an overwhelming rice wine vinegar flavor without any discernible sesame taste. This customer even attempted to rectify the sauce at home by adding sesame oil and soy sauce, questioning the value of ordering food that requires significant at-home adjustments. Furthermore, they described the steamed rice as "overcooked to the point of being a big mushy block," concluding that the overall experience was "a crime against Asian food" and "very underwhelming."

Another customer acknowledged a couple of positive aspects, noting that "The food seemed like it was made fresh and was nice and hot, so that’s a plus." However, this positive was overshadowed by significant issues with the menu and service. The menu was described as "not at all intuitive," resembling "just a wall of text that means next to nothing unless I’ve been there before." This lack of clarity led to the customer ordering kung bo chicken and receiving something "VERY different from what I was expecting." They suggested the inclusion of more pictures or clearer descriptions to improve the ordering process. Regarding service, while it was noted as "quick," it was also described as "not great." The customer had to inquire about their order's status as others who arrived later were served first, which they found "far from ideal," though not the "worst thing in the world."

Despite these negative experiences, this customer did find a positive aspect, stating, "The fried rice was good though at least." However, this single positive was not enough to outweigh the negatives, as they concluded, "I don’t regret eating here, but wouldn’t recommend it, and probably won’t come back."

For local users in Raleigh, NC, Taste of China presents itself as a local option for Chinese cuisine, primarily emphasizing takeout based on the reviews. If you are looking for a quick meal and the freshness and temperature of the food are primary concerns, some feedback suggests these aspects might be satisfactory. However, the significant criticisms regarding the taste and preparation of specific dishes like sesame chicken and steamed rice, as well as the unintuitive menu and subpar service, should be carefully considered.

Information regarding the environment of Taste of China is not provided in the customer reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to offer an objective description of the restaurant's ambiance, cleanliness, or decor based solely on this feedback. Local users who prioritize the dining environment may need to visit the location to form their own opinion or seek additional information from other online platforms if available.

In terms of services, the reviews highlight both takeout and potentially dine-in options. The quick service mentioned by one reviewer could be a positive for those seeking a fast meal. However, the issue of orders being served out of sequence indicates a potential lapse in service quality that some customers might find frustrating.

Regarding features, the fried rice being described as "good" could be considered a positive feature. However, the negative feedback on the sesame chicken and steamed rice points to significant areas needing improvement. The unintuitive menu is also a notable drawback, potentially hindering customers from making informed choices and leading to dissatisfaction with their orders.

The provided information does not contain any details about current promotional offers or specials at Taste of China. Local users interested in potential discounts or promotions may need to contact the restaurant directly or check for any publicly available advertisements or online listings.

In conclusion, Taste of China in Raleigh, NC, is a local Chinese restaurant offering takeout and potentially dine-in services. Recent customer reviews indicate significant concerns regarding the quality of certain dishes, particularly the sesame chicken and steamed rice, as well as issues with menu clarity and service order. While some aspects like the freshness and temperature of the food, and the quality of the fried rice, received positive mention, the overall sentiment suggests a need for improvement in food preparation consistency and customer service. For local users in Raleigh, Taste of China represents an available option for Chinese food, but potential customers should carefully weigh the recent feedback before making a decision. Trying a small order of a dish known to be satisfactory, such as the fried rice, might be a cautious approach for first-time customers.

For residents of Raleigh seeking Chinese takeout or dine-in options, Taste of China offers a local choice. However, the reported inconsistencies in food quality and service issues warrant careful consideration. Individuals who prioritize taste, menu clarity, and efficient service may want to explore other options or approach Taste of China with tempered expectations based on the recent customer feedback provided.

Sesame chicken was some of the worst I've had. The chicken was overcooked and stringy, and the sauce had an overwhelming flavor of rice wine vinegar without any sesame taste whatsoever. I was able to save the sauce by taking it home and adding a good sized splash of sesame oil and soy sauce to balance things back out, but then... Why even get food here if you have to redo their work at home? But the ultimate unforgivable sin was that the steamed rice was overcooked to the point of being a big mushy block. This place is a crime against Asian food.

Very underwhelming experience. The food seemed like it was made fresh and was nice and hot, so that’s a plus. However, the menu is not at all intuitive. It’s just a wall of text that means next to nothing unless I’ve been there before. I ordered something that sounded good (kung bo chicken), and got something VERY different from what I was expecting. More pictures would be nice, or just more menu clarity. The service was quick! But not great. I had to go up and ask how long was left until mine was done, since people who had come in after me were getting their food first. Not the worst thing in the world of course, but far from ideal. The fried rice was good though at least. I don’t regret eating here, but wouldn’t recommend it, and probably won’t come back.

Just moved to Wake Forest, tried some Chinese take out food and this place didn’t disappoint at all. It is located in good location, next to a movie theater. I tried my favorite dish boneless spare ribs with fried rice as always.

Very poor customer service. The fried chicken wings I ordered were very dark, hard, and smelled burnt. I asked if they could remake them for me and they refused to. One of the workers told me their grease hasn’t been changed out in a while so that made sense but very unacceptable. Eat here at your own risk.

Food was good. What appeard to be a daughter of the lady running the place was running the register and taking orders. She was friendly, happy and efficient (and pretty adorable). Chicken wings crisp and delicious. They have moved back around the corner from earlier location. Will definitely be back again.
