I had an incredible dining experience at this Nepali restaurant! The flavors were absolutely authentic, and the balance of spices was spot on. Their momo (dumplings) are a must-try – perfectly steamed, with juicy fillings and a delicious dipping sauce that brings everything together. The yak chili was another standout dish, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of heat to awaken your taste buds. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, with subtle Nepali decor that gave it a warm, homely feel. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. If you’re looking for a culinary adventure that combines bold flavors and comforting dishes, this is the place to be. Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys authentic Nepali cuisine or wants to try something new. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Tara’s is our go to for Goat curry and Momo’s. Staff is friendly and take effort to know if we like the food or need something else. Try their Red Sangria, it won’t disappoint you. I like the outdoor seating on a sunny day! Parking is very small and can fit max 2-3 cars so you have to search for street parking.

Wow I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Tara’s before - it’s my very favorite restaurant in all of Los Angeles. Oh my gosh, you guys, it is SO SO SO GOOD ALL THE TIME. We’ve been coming here for like 18 years - we had our bachelor and bachelorette party here and just had our wedding anniversary dinner here. During the pandemic it was our prime takeout spot. The food has always been delicious. We are vegan and we especially like the vegan version of the vegetable korma, plus garlic tofu, jogi curry, aloo gobi, the vegetable momos, lentil soups, jackfruit curry. The garlic naan and any of the breads are spectacular (don’t tell the vegan police; it’s so good I cheat there). Honestly everything we’ve ever tried has been great - I recommend getting the thali dish that comes with a bunch of stuff (including the achar, the spicy pickled mix, which is delectable even to someone like me who doesn’t tolerate spicy food well). The deserts and drinks are nice too - the deserts aren’t vegan but I’ve had little nibbles from other people’s gulab jamun and rice pudding and they’re delicious. I’ve never had food like this anywhere else (admittedly I’ve been to very few Nepalese restaurants.) For anyone who is wondering, it’s kind of like Indian food, but the spices are different and the overall vibe is different - creamier, easier for me to digest, less oily, more savory and herbal, maybe more delicate? Just my take in comparison to the Indian food I’ve had.) The people are also always awesome, which I think is because Tara herself is such a sweetheart. She’s always warm, friendly, with a sense of profound benevolence. She clearly promotes a good work environment. Also they’re kind and accommodating about food allergies. Ambiance and lack of restaurant odors means a lot to me when I eat out because I’m sensitive to those things. The vibe at Tara’s is fantastic - dim lights, comforting textures and images, nice wooden tables, and it’s always clean. I always feel welcomed and like I can relax there. My baby also loves it and is fascinated by the little garden area with prayer flags and lights out front. Enjoy your time at Tara’s! And I heard that someday Tara might do cooking classes, which I would be SO psyched to take because if I could cook like her restaurant does I would eat incredibly well for the rest of my life.
