About Tam's Cuisine of China

Tam's Cuisine of China is a Chinese restaurant located at 494 Manor Plaza in Pacifica, California. As a local establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, it aims to provide the community with Chinese cuisine. Based on recent customer feedback available online, Tam's Cuisine of China presents a mixed picture, with some aspects receiving positive comments while others have drawn criticism. Potential local diners may find the following detailed summary helpful in making their dining decisions.

One of the most striking aspects of Tam's Cuisine of China, according to a customer review, is its interior ambiance. The reviewer noted that the building's interior is reminiscent of China, suggesting a potentially authentic and immersive environment for diners seeking a genuine cultural experience. This unique characteristic could be a significant draw for those who appreciate a restaurant's atmosphere as much as its food. The description evokes a sense of stepping into a different place, possibly offering a more traditional Chinese aesthetic than typically found in local Chinese restaurants.

However, the same review also raised a significant concern regarding the meal itself. The customer ordered beef and broccoli and was surprised to find that rice was not included with the dish. This is contrary to the expectation set by "every other Chinese place in the universe," as the reviewer stated. The lack of inclusion and the failure of the staff to inquire if the customer wanted to add rice were points of considerable dissatisfaction. Furthermore, the reviewer found the food to be merely "ok, nothing to write home about," suggesting that while the ambiance might be noteworthy, the culinary experience did not leave a lasting positive impression. The reviewer also described the restaurant as "EXPENSIVE," especially considering the absence of rice with the main dish. This combination of price and perceived lack of value could be a deterrent for budget-conscious diners.

Another more recent review, dated December 3, 2023, provided an update, indicating a return visit and a slightly more positive assessment of the food quality. The reviewer stated that "the food is just as good," suggesting consistency in the taste over time. However, the comment about the restaurant being "Very expensive" persisted, reinforcing the notion that Tam's Cuisine of China might be priced at a premium compared to other local Chinese restaurants.

A third review highlighted a significant concern regarding the cleanliness of the establishment. The reviewer noted that "the interior is definitely outdated and could use a deep overhaul clean." More specifically, they pointed out that the soy sauce, bottle, and vinegar bottles were sticky, indicating a lack of proper and regular cleaning. This is a serious issue as it directly impacts hygiene and the overall dining experience. Such observations can be off-putting to customers who expect a clean and well-maintained environment when dining out. While the reviewer mentioned that "otherwise, totally great," this caveat regarding cleanliness is a significant point of consideration for potential patrons.

Considering these reviews, Tam's Cuisine of China presents a dichotomy. On one hand, it potentially offers a unique and authentic interior ambiance that might transport diners to China. This could be a significant draw for those seeking an immersive cultural experience alongside their meal. On the other hand, there are concerns regarding the pricing, the perceived value (especially with the exclusion of rice), and the cleanliness of the dining area, particularly the condiment bottles. The food quality seems to be acceptable, with one reviewer finding it "good" on two separate occasions, while another described it as merely "ok."

For local users considering Tam's Cuisine of China, it would be prudent to weigh these factors. If an authentic Chinese interior ambiance is a high priority, and price is less of a concern, then Tam's Cuisine of China might be worth a visit. However, potential diners should be aware of the reported issues with the exclusion of rice, the overall expense, and the concerns raised about cleanliness. It might be advisable to inquire about the inclusion of sides with main dishes when ordering and to personally assess the cleanliness of the dining area upon arrival.

Given the information available, it is challenging to suggest specific promotional information that the restaurant might offer, as no such details were provided in the reviews. However, to address the concerns raised and attract more local customers, Tam's Cuisine of China could consider the following: reassessing their pricing strategy to be more competitive with other local Chinese restaurants, ensuring that standard accompaniments like rice are included with main dishes or clearly offered as an add-on with transparent pricing, and implementing a thorough cleaning and maintenance protocol to address the cleanliness issues reported by customers. Highlighting the unique interior ambiance in any promotional materials might also attract customers specifically seeking that type of experience.

In conclusion, Tam's Cuisine of China in Pacifica offers a potentially authentic Chinese interior ambiance that some diners might find appealing. However, customer reviews indicate concerns regarding pricing, the exclusion of rice with certain dishes, and issues with cleanliness. While the food quality has been described as ranging from "ok" to "good," the overall value proposition and the cleanliness of the dining environment appear to be areas that could benefit from improvement. Local users should consider these points when deciding whether to dine at Tam's Cuisine of China.

No Rice? I ordered beef and broccoli had a nice chat with the owners and got home sans rice. What? I mean if it isn't included like every other Chinese place in the universe... then at least ASK me if I want to add it on... food ok, nothing to write home about. The building itself is exactly like being in China, from my experience. EXPENSIVE, especially with no Rice. Could be great... get it together people.

Updating my review. We went today 12-3-23 and I am happy to say that the food is just as good. Very expensive but the food was good. The only notable thing was the interior is definitely outdated and could use a deep overhaul clean. The soy sauce, bottle and vinegar bottles etc were sticky, which means they haven't been cleaned properly in a while. Otherwise, totally great

I have been coming to Tam’s regularly for nearly 25 years, which is wild to say. Not only is the service impeccable every time, but the food quality and flavor is fresh and consistent. I absolutely love the sizzling rice soup, effigy has great texture, but also love the potstickers and braised bean curd. You really can’t go wrong!

Food is ok. Service is very poor. The waitress takes the plate from you while you have not even finished eating. Had to tell the waitress that I was still eating. The waiter didn't bring us any condiments. I had to grab it from another table.. Then he asked for mandatory service charge separate from the bill. There was flies around the table. The windows are dirty. Just not a good atmosphere and staff.
