About T C Pastry
Welcome to T C Pastry, a Chinese restaurant and bakery located at 2222 Irving St in San Francisco, California. Situated in a convenient neighborhood, T C Pastry operates within the Chinese Restaurant category, offering a range of food items that extend beyond just pastries. Based on customer reviews, this establishment is known for its affordability and quick service, making it a practical option for those seeking a fast and budget-friendly meal or snack.
Several reviews highlight the value proposition of T C Pastry, with comments such as "Decent for the price" and food being "sold at an unbeatable price." This suggests that T C Pastry caters to customers looking for economical options without necessarily expecting elaborate dishes or ambiance. The focus appears to be on providing reasonably good food at a cost-effective price point.
Among the specific items mentioned, the egg tart is noted as "flavorable but on the small side." This provides insight into one of their pastry offerings, suggesting a decent taste but perhaps not the most generous portion. The sweet tofu is described as "ok," indicating a satisfactory but not exceptional dish. Similarly, the BBQ pork bun is deemed "decent for the price," aligning with the general sentiment of affordability and reasonable quality.
One detailed and "HONEST REVIEW" provides a more comprehensive picture of T C Pastry. This reviewer emphasizes the quick service, noting that while efficient, customers might feel rushed when placing their orders. However, the speed at which the food is prepared and served is highlighted as a significant positive. The reviewer echoes the sentiment about the food being "pretty good" and available at an "unbeatable price," reinforcing the restaurant's key selling points.
The honest review also delves into specific menu items, offering valuable insights for potential customers. The ha gow, a type of shrimp dumpling, is mentioned as a past favorite, but the reviewer notes a decline in quality, stating that every shrimp ha gow variant they have tried recently has tasted stale. This is a critical piece of feedback for those who are fans of this particular dim sum item.
On a more positive note, the reviewer identifies several dishes as their favorites: the pork siu mai, steamed pork buns, and chicken turnovers. This suggests that while some items might have consistency issues, others remain reliable and enjoyable choices. These favorites likely contribute to the restaurant's appeal and repeat business.
The overall impression from the honest review is that T C Pastry is a place that prioritizes speed and affordability. It is described as a spot that will "get you in and out quickly" while serving "some great food" – at least for certain items on the menu. This characterization suggests that it's well-suited for quick lunches, snacks, or when budget is a primary concern.
Based on the limited information, it's challenging to paint a detailed picture of the restaurant's environment. The reviews primarily focus on the food and service speed rather than the ambiance or decor. The mention of it being a "pastry" shop might imply a more casual and functional setting, perhaps geared towards quick takeaways as well as some dine-in seating. However, without more specific descriptions, it's difficult to elaborate on the atmosphere.
Similarly, the information about services is primarily centered on the speed of ordering and food delivery. The honest reviewer mentions the possibility of feeling rushed when ordering, which could be a characteristic of their service style aimed at efficiency. There is no mention of table service in the traditional sense, which aligns with the idea of a quick-service establishment.
In terms of features, the standout features of T C Pastry appear to be its affordable pricing and the speed of its service. The variety of offerings, including pastries like egg tarts, savory buns like BBQ pork buns and steamed pork buns, and dim sum items like ha gow and siu mai, also contribute to its appeal. However, the reported inconsistency in the quality of certain items, such as the ha gow, is a point to consider.
There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Customers primarily comment on the price in relation to the food quality and portion sizes, but there are no mentions of discounts, special offers, or promotions that T C Pastry might be running.
In conclusion, T C Pastry on Irving Street in San Francisco offers a budget-friendly option for those seeking a quick bite of Chinese food and pastries. Known for its fast service and affordable prices, it has some popular items like pork siu mai, steamed pork buns, and chicken turnovers. However, there are also reports of inconsistency in quality, particularly with the ha gow. The environment is likely casual and geared towards efficiency. If you are looking for a no-frills place to grab a quick and inexpensive meal or pastry, T C Pastry might be worth considering, keeping in mind the mixed feedback on certain items.

Decent for the price. The egg tart is flavorable but on the small side. Sweet tofu was ok The BBQ Pork bun was decent for the price
HONEST REVIEW: Service is quick, but quite often you will be rushed when ordering. You can expect your food just a quickly as you ordered, which is great though. Food is pretty good and sold at an unbeatable price. I used to get ha gow often, however, the quality for that changed and every shrimp ha gow variant i’ve tried has tasted stale. Their pork siu mai, steamed pork buns, and chicken turnovers are favorites of mine. This place will get you in and out quickly, and serve you some great food.
This is very good dimsum. But the reason why it's so good is the affordability. It's quality food for good prices. The customer service was very friendly. We visited 2 times in the same day, that's how tasty and affordable it was. And the BBQ bun was heavenly good.
I've been a patron at TC Pastry for 20+ years. My haircut salon is down the block and my routine is to pick-up some dim sum after my haircut. My favorite items are the egg rolls, preserved egg porridge, fried wonton, Chinese doughnut, various steamed dim sum and wonton noodles. This time, I ordered wonton noodles $6.20, fried wontons $2.85, pork siu mai $3.50 (3 per order) and shrimp dumpling $3.50 (3 per order). The wonton noodles tasted good. I liked that clean soup taste. The fried wontons are greasy and will break apart in the plastic bag. The pork siu mai is great. It doesn't taste good though if it is cold or the next day. Be careful of their shrimp dumpling. Every time I order this, I'm disappointed. The staff is always nice to me. Maybe it is because I show up before they close and they are happy to get rid of the stuff they don't sell.
The items are pretty decent, not HK quality but good value. Their duck egg and pork porridge is pretty good and over all I come here for average quality items. Restaurant dim sum is better quality but you pay the higher price for that.
