About Szechuwan Garden

Szechuwan Garden is a Chinese restaurant located at 484 Los Angeles Ave # 124 in Moorpark, California. As a part of the Chinese restaurant category, it aims to provide the local community and visitors with a selection of Chinese cuisine. They can be contacted at (805) 517-1930 or via their mobile number +1 805-517-1930 for inquiries or orders.

Typically, a Chinese restaurant offers a variety of dishes encompassing different regional styles or common favorites such as fried rice, noodle dishes, various meat and vegetable stir-fries, and soups. Customers often look for a combination of flavorful food, reasonable prices, efficient service, and a comfortable dining environment, whether they choose to dine in or opt for takeout or delivery services.

However, recent customer reviews available online present a concerning perspective on the current state of Szechuwan Garden. These reviews highlight significant issues related to service quality, food quality, and overall customer experience, which potential local users should be aware of.

One customer detailed a negative experience with a pickup order. According to the review, the order was placed online with a specific pickup time. Upon arrival, the customer faced a lack of communication and a delay in receiving their order. The reviewer described the owner's behavior as rude and unprofessional, particularly when addressing the delay and ultimately when the order was ready. This encounter culminated in the customer feeling unwelcome and deciding not to patronize the restaurant again.

Another review focused on the quality of the takeout food. The customer ordered Sesame Chicken and wonton soup and described the chicken as the "worst Chinese takeout" they had ever had. The reviewer mentioned the chicken being dry, soggy, and tasting of old oil, leading them to dispose of it immediately. Although the soup initially seemed acceptable, the overall negative impression of the chicken led the customer to discard the soup as well, expressing a lack of trust in the kitchen's standards. This review also noted that the restaurant appeared empty during pickup, suggesting a potential lack of popularity among in-person diners.

These recent firsthand accounts raise serious questions about the current service and food quality at Szechuwan Garden. While it's important to acknowledge that these are individual experiences, the strong negative sentiments expressed should be a point of consideration for local users contemplating dining at or ordering from this establishment.

Prospective customers often rely on online reviews to gauge the likely experience they will have at a restaurant. In the case of Szechuwan Garden, the recent feedback suggests a potential disconnect between any previously positive reputation and the current reality. Issues such as long wait times for pickup orders without proactive communication, rude customer service interactions, and substandard food quality are significant deterrents for potential diners.

For local residents of Moorpark and the surrounding areas looking for a Chinese restaurant, it would be advisable to weigh these recent negative reviews against any other information available. Considering alternatives might be prudent, especially for those who prioritize timely service, courteous staff, and high-quality food. The mention of other options like Panda Express in one of the reviews indicates that there are alternative choices for those seeking Chinese cuisine in the vicinity.

It is also worth noting the discrepancy mentioned in one review regarding the restaurant's seemingly good overall rating despite the very poor recent experiences. This highlights the importance of looking at the most recent feedback to get an accurate picture of the current service and quality levels at any establishment.

In conclusion, Szechuwan Garden in Moorpark, while categorized as a Chinese restaurant serving the local area, has recently received very negative feedback concerning its customer service and food quality. Local users should carefully consider these recent experiences when deciding whether to patronize this establishment for dine-in or takeout services.

Placed an order for pickup at 6:30. When I arrived at 6:35 and inquired about it the woman who seemed the owner mumbled something and disappeared to pick up another call. I call them on the phone and see her pick up my call from the back and answer my call. She tells me that the order isn’t ready yet (instead of updating me at the front where I was waiting). I patiently wait… When she finally makes it to the front to take a walk in order she tells the other customer they suddenly got busy in the last 10 minutes after a quiet while at the restaurant. I’m confused why my order that was placed at 6:05 online was delayed if they “were not busy”. When remind her that my order was 15 minutes late she rudely said “then leave it” after someone in the kitchen had just brought it over… what followed after was a horrific display of childish behavior when she asked me to hand over the food I was just given (!?). Do not recommend. I heard her yelling after me once I paid. My husband said I should’ve just left the food, but when you’re a mom who’s picking up food for their kiddos while on a tight schedule, you don’t let the rudeness of strangers get in the way. Having said that, never again will this owner get my business. There’s Panda Express down the road for a quick and satisfying Chinese food craving!

I ordered takeout—got the Sesame Chicken and wonton soup. This was easily the worst Chinese takeout I’ve ever had. I took one bite of the chicken and threw it away in the outside dumpster, I didn’t even want it in my kitchen garbage. It was dry, soggy, tasted like it was fried in the same peanut oil they’ve been using for years. The soup seemed fine, but I tossed that too, because I couldn’t trust anything that came out of that kitchen at that point. When I picked up the food, there was no one eating inside. So I’m guessing this isn’t a popular spot with in-person diners either. I’m really baffled by why this spot has such good reviews. That’s why I’m posting mine—I don’t want others to be misled like I was.

Small place almost hidden. Finally, I was able to try it today. Food was good. Big menu and good prices. Not big on Chinese food but would come back.

There are many options available on the menu and reasonable prices for the lunch menu. The serving size was large for a lunch portion with the little added extras of soup, rice, and wonton. The lobster sauce and shrimp was good, but was more like egg drop soup over shrimp. At least the egg drop soup was better than most these days. The fried rice was bland and dry. The salad was chopped iceberg lettuce with no dressing on it, but when I asked for a side of dressing, they were quick to bring some. The service was interesting, with the first young server seeming to struggle to take the order, but an older woman jumped in very business like and completed our order. Our needs were met, and the establishment appeared clean.
