About Szechuwan Garden

Welcome to Szechuwan Garden, a local gem in Montclair offering a diverse and authentic experience in the Chinese Restaurant category. Located at 8851 Central Ave # A, Szechuwan Garden provides a welcoming atmosphere and a menu filled with delectable Chinese dishes. Whether you are a long-time resident or new to the Montclair area, Szechuwan Garden invites you to discover the rich flavors and inviting ambiance that have garnered both praise and some concern from its patrons.

Upon arrival at Szechuwan Garden, despite what one customer describes as an "unassuming" exterior sign, you are immediately greeted by the enticing aromas of expertly prepared food. Stepping inside, the atmosphere transitions into one of calming elegance. This creates a pleasant and comfortable setting for diners looking to enjoy a relaxed meal. The interior design aims to provide a sophisticated yet welcoming space, setting the stage for a satisfying culinary experience.

The service at Szechuwan Garden has been highlighted by some customers as exceptional. Servers are described as knowledgeable about the menu, offering guidance and recommendations with enthusiasm. Their demeanor is noted as both fun and high-energy, yet also calming, contributing to a positive and engaging dining experience. This attentive and friendly service aims to enhance your enjoyment of the meal and make you feel well-cared for throughout your visit.

Szechuwan Garden prides itself on a diverse menu that promises a variety of authentic Chinese dishes. According to one enthusiastic reviewer, every single dish ordered was delicious, indicating a high level of culinary skill and attention to flavor. A standout dish mentioned is the "WALNUT SHRIMP," described as "one of a kind," suggesting a unique and particularly enjoyable preparation. Additionally, the soups and spring rolls have also received high praise, with one customer simply stating "YUM!" This positive feedback indicates that Szechuwan Garden excels in delivering well-prepared and flavorful classic Chinese dishes.

Convenience is also a factor at Szechuwan Garden, with one reviewer specifically mentioning "ample parking." This is a significant advantage for diners, ensuring that accessibility is not a concern when visiting the restaurant, allowing for a stress-free arrival and departure.

However, it is important to present a balanced view based on all available information. One recent customer expressed significant dissatisfaction due to changes in the lunch menu. This review highlights the deletion of previously available items, specifically mentioning the removal of a salad and, more recently, soup options. The customer also notes an increase in prices alongside these menu reductions, leading to the perception of a diminished value proposition. This negative experience resulted in the loss of a "steady customer," who now intends to explore other dining options, including Panda Express, suggesting that these changes have had a tangible impact on customer loyalty for at least one individual.

The concern raised about menu changes and price increases suggests that while Szechuwan Garden has historically offered a well-regarded dining experience, recent management decisions may be impacting customer satisfaction for some. Potential new customers should be aware of these recent changes in menu offerings and pricing, as they may influence their perception of the restaurant's value.

Despite the recent negative feedback regarding the lunch menu, the positive comments about the overall food quality, ambiance, and service from other patrons suggest that Szechuwan Garden still holds considerable appeal. The "one of a kind" Walnut Shrimp, excellent soups, and delicious spring rolls, coupled with the elegant ambiance and knowledgeable servers, remain significant draws. The availability of ample parking also adds to the convenience of dining at this Montclair location.

Currently, specific promotional information is not available in the provided reviews. It would be advisable for potential customers to contact Szechuwan Garden directly at (909) 625-1878 or +1 909-625-1878 to inquire about any ongoing specials, lunch or dinner promotions, or seasonal offerings. Staying informed about current promotions can enhance your dining experience and provide opportunities to enjoy Szechuwan Garden's cuisine at potentially advantageous prices.

In conclusion, Szechuwan Garden in Montclair presents itself as a Chinese restaurant offering a blend of authentic flavors, a calming and elegant dining environment, and generally attentive service. The menu boasts popular dishes like the highly praised Walnut Shrimp, along with excellent soups and spring rolls. The convenience of ample parking adds to its accessibility. However, potential diners should be aware of recent negative feedback concerning changes to the lunch menu, including the deletion of items and price increases, which have impacted some customers' perceptions of value. Despite these concerns, the positive aspects of Szechuwan Garden, particularly the quality of its signature dishes and the overall dining ambiance, suggest it remains a noteworthy option for those seeking Chinese cuisine in the Montclair area. It is recommended to check directly with the restaurant for the most current menu and promotional information.

It is a small, unassuming restaurant from the sign outside. When you enter you can smell the scent of GREAT food. The ambiance is calming into an elegant ambiance. The servers are knowledgeable and fun, high energy and calming. The menu is diverse and every single dish we ordered was delicious. WALNUT SHRIMP one of a kind...., soups were excellent, spring rolls YUM! I will definitely be going back with ALL my friends. Ample parking.

Had to give a low rating overall because I'm angry at the latest lunch menu deletion. First the salad was gone, even though it remained listed on the menu. Now the soup is gone. Prices keep going up, food keeps getting deleted. Not a good deal anymore. They've lost a steady customer to bad management for pennies. Going to Panda Express or another place that doesn't continue to become less of what they were for more $$$.

I been ordering take out from this restaurant. Indeed their chef is quite good and portions are large. Their spicy dishes are close to the traditional local Szechuan style. Menu is quite large but most of the ones I ordered were good. Mapo Tofu could have been better. Steamed fish in spicy oil sauce was very good. Parking lot is adequate most of the time.

Love the food. Our waitress was awesome. 1st time eating there, but I've always ordered using delivery services. Been a year or so since I've had it. Will definitely be back, and the food was just as I remembered it. Even better dining in.

My wife and I have been regulars for little over a year. The food is very good there and prices are very reasonable. In the past few visits, their primary server (who serves 95% of everyone who goes for dine in) has been less than friendly and is not very attentive. Last night it started with him seeing us at the entry way (they were moderately busy). Usually we are directed to sit from afar at any open table. We were made to wait until another family of four walked in about 7 minutes after we arrived. Once seated, we waited another 10 - 12 minutes in our booths without menus. When menu were delivered, the we plopped (and I do mean plopped) on our table without anything being said to us which our wife and I found odd. We ordered several appetizers and soup. We ate all of our food except the soup which had several servings remaining and asked to take it home. It was taken away and roughly half was brought back, another oddity for this visit. The server was engaged with some of the other parties but not all. The server took the order of others who sat after we did before ours. When our meal was complete, we waited more than ten minutes to receive the bill despite making eye contact and me making a signature gesture to let him know we were ready for the bill. We were ignored until we asked another employee who was handling online / phone orders. We waited for our change to be brought back to us. Basically, if you want some good food have have a lot of time, this place is for you. Update: Google didn't put down my star ratings, so here they are: Overall: 1/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 1/5 Atmosphere: 3/5
