About Szechuan Express

Szechuan Express is a Chinese restaurant situated at 125 Oakland Ave in Pittsburgh, PA 15213, serving the local community with a range of Chinese cuisine options. They can be contacted at (412) 687-8000 or +1 412-687-8000 for inquiries or to place an order.

Based on recent customer reviews, experiences at Szechuan Express appear to be mixed. One customer reported several issues with their order, noting that the food, including the shrimp egg roll, fried rice, chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken, and broccoli, did not meet expectations. Specific criticisms included the greasiness of the food, an excessive amount of black pepper and lack of fresh vegetables in the egg roll (also receiving only one instead of the ordered two), and a simplistic preparation of the fried rice which lacked typical ingredients. The reviewer did, however, mention that the white rice was better and acknowledged the politeness of the staff and the apparent cleanliness of the establishment, expressing overall disappointment despite these positives.

In contrast, another reviewer, who admits to not having personally visited the restaurant but follows a TikTok account featuring Szechuan Express, expressed strong positive sentiments. This reviewer specifically highlighted a $12 General Tso's chicken dish as "amazing looking" and praised the perceived passion and values of the person cooking. This opinion is based on online content rather than a direct dining experience.

In summary, customer feedback for Szechuan Express presents a varied picture. While one direct customer experienced significant issues with the quality and preparation of several dishes, another individual's positive impression is based on online video content. If you are a local user considering Szechuan Express, you may want to take these differing perspectives into account.

Everything was really really greasy. The shrimp egg roll was FULL of black pepper, no fresh veggie, and very oily. I also was supposed to get 2 but only got one, not mad cause I couldn't get through one. The fried rice was just brown rice and soy sauce, no onion, no beansprout, no green onion. The white rice was far superior Chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken, and broccoli were nothing to write home about. The people were nice enough, and the place seemed pretty clean. I do not write bad reviews like this lightly, but I was so disappointed cause I was looking forward to this. And I did give it a fair chance, eating it as quickly as possible.

This place is so good. I've never been there, but I watch this thing called Only Woks on Tik Tok. That $12 general TSO was amazing looking and looked fire with the rice. This dude can cook! Also, this dude lives on good values, so everything is cooked with love! Go eat here PLEASE! Do it for me!!!

I've seen quite a few negative reviews for this place, but I actually quite liked the food I got from here. Maybe it's because I only ordered one thing and many people consider it to be an appetizer, but nonetheless...I got their fried pork dumplings with their dumpling sauce. As I mentioned, I actually really enjoyed the,. They were very crispy and well fried when I received my order. One of the best dumpling shells/dough I have had in a while. The sauce had a nice balance of sweetness and savoriness and came in a good portion. The meat was also pretty good. Well seasoned, cooked well, and overall tasty. I really can't complain. And, the portion was also pretty solid for the price. In general, this place prices itself on providing large quantities of food for a cheap price. So if that's what you are looking for, definitely try it out. All in all, great dumplings, solid prices, and good portions. I like this spot!

I was in the area and thought i would give it a try for a quick lunch. GREASY gross soggy food. Some of the worst Chinese ever. Cheap yes. You get what you pay for. The guy behind the counter was arrogant too. He didn't want to hear my opinion when he asked me how it was.
