About Szechuan Delight

Szechuan Delight is a Chinese restaurant located at 6238 Little River Turnpike, Alexandria, VA 22312, USA. They can be contacted at phone number (703) 354-0005 or mobile phone +1 703-354-0005.

This Chinese restaurant appears to be somewhat of a hidden gem, located at the end of an alley. The dining space is quite small, with only two tables available for dine-in customers. One reviewer who dined in found the Sesame Chicken with white meat (priced at $14.95) to be "perfectly prepared, crispy but not at all greasy." They also noted the availability of lunch specials for $9.25 from Monday to Friday.

Another customer, who was looking for a late-night option near Landmark in Alexandria, found Szechuan Delight open until 10 PM as a carryout joint in Landmark Plaza. They described the space as "tidy and clean" and noted the presence of a couple of tables for dine-in. The staff was described as "friendly and accommodating," as they were able to customize the egg foo young order. The reviewer found the egg foo young to have the "right flavor" and appreciated that it was packaged with pancakes, sauce, and rice in separate sealed containers. They ate in their car and found the food to be "good and hot." Their main criticisms were the monochromatic appearance of the egg foo young (pale brown) and slightly dry rice. Despite these minor issues, they were impressed with the generous serving of egg foo young and the extensive menu, which even includes some Thai offerings, leading them to give the establishment a 5-star rating, acknowledging its potential to compete with full-service restaurants despite primarily being a carryout.

In summary, Szechuan Delight offers Szechuan cuisine with a focus on carryout, though limited dine-in seating is available. Customers have praised the quality of dishes like Sesame Chicken and Egg Foo Yung, as well as the friendly service and clean environment. Lunch specials are available on weekdays. Potential customers should be aware of the limited seating and the possibility of minor inconsistencies in food presentation and texture, as mentioned in the reviews.

Located at the end of an alley, this little Chinese restaurant was a wonderful surprise. There are only two tables, so I was lucky to get one. I ordered Sesame Chicken with an extra charge for white meat ($14.95). It was perfectly prepared, crispy but not at all greasy. Lunch specials are $9.25 from Monday to Friday.

Surfing the web after 9PM looking for something open near Landmark in Alexandria. Came upon this carryout joint in Landmark Plaza, and it's open 'til 10PM. Egg Foo Yung on the menu sealed the deal for me. Hopped in the car and was there in minutes. The space was tidy and clean (no grunge here) and included a couple of tables for those who would dine in. Staff was friendly and accommodating (I was able to request my egg foo young with barbecued pork and shrimp omitting the chicken). My egg foo young had the right flavor and was bagged with the pancakes, sauce, and rice each packed in its own sealed container. I ate in the car. Everything was good 'and hot.The food hit the spot. My only criticism of the foo young was that it was so monochromatic -- pale brown. If they could have mustered just a few bits of chopped scallion greens for garnish, it would have made a big difference. Look at the photo of the egg foo young on their web site and you'll see what I mean. Pathetic. The other disappointment was dry rice, not hard yet, but at evening's end it was definitely getting a little dry. Not inedible, and I did eat it anyway. I will almost certainly go back one of these days, at least for egg foo young when the mood strikes, though I'm not much of a carryout guy. Cutting them a break and hoping for the best next time, I'm going to give this little carryout with the long menu (and even a few Thai offerings) 5 stars overall. Though it's just a carryout, it could easily compete with a full service restaurant, judging by my experience with their generous serving of egg foo young.

I’ve been going to this place for a while, never had complaints. Last night, I went here for dinner and ended up having to go to the hospital, I’m not sure if they cooked it in something wrong or undercooked it. Nothing looked wrong, but it made me have severe stomach pains to the point I had to go to the hospital and I kept throwing up. This place more than likely needs a health inspection, the way I felt after eating it.

Order from this place a lot I always get sweet and sour chicken but for the last past few months the chicken has been fried to the point that I can’t eat it. The chicken is as hard as a rock

4 "wings" - which are 2 full chicken wings split in half - for almost 9 bucks (8.95)? That's ROBBERY. The fried rice was also drenched in grease. The egg rolls are grease filled. All costed 23 dollars total. Complete waste of money, find elsewhere to eat.
