Sun Sun Chinese Restaurant

My friends in South Windsor have been telling me about Sun Sun for the last year or so. I finally tried their food, and I’m thoroughly impressed! Not only was the food great, it’s affordable, and the tea is free too! Much needed yesterday during the rainy day! I’ll come back here again soon! I’m glad it was worth the drive for me from Hartford. Come eat here!

My family has been a dedicated customers of Sun Sun since they opened. Their food has always been fresh and delicious! The quality of food and amount ( ratio to rice/protein) has diminished greatly. The crab Rangoons ( crab and cream cheese ) have gone from maybe 3 tablespoons of crab mixture to a nickle size of cream cheese and salt no crab .. picture to follow. Their egg rolls used to be so good now they’re just filled completely with white cabbage barely no pork or seasonings tasteless! Also picture to follow. This is the second time we have ordered and we’re disappointed the first time I thought maybe we’d give them some slack, the second time it’s like they are skimping on product but charging more…Don’t take advantage of your loyal customers Sun Sun. Unfortunately, next time we decide to treat ourself for Chinese take out we will be trying somewhere else. We work very hard for our money too!! Don’t try to rip people off!!

Unfortunately my favorite spot has gone downhill making me so sad. I want to warn all my fellow patrons before they come with the expectations of the same dining or take out experience. The food was lacking in every aspect, quality, taste, presentation, tons of filler veggies (lots of chopped celery, & huge chunks of onions), the meat was bland, even the rice was not good.

Grabbed take out here on Christmas Day. Food was perfectly cooked, tender chicken, veggies done exactly right. The rice was perfect, not sticky at all. And the egg roll nice and crisp. Good flavors all around. Very quick service, super friendly staff at the register. Always had a good experience here. Wish I could afford to eat out more often!

I have been going to Sun Sun at least once a month for the last 25 years. There has been a turn over of the operation to the younger family members and all the kitchen staff is different. The food as gone down hill in quantity and quality and up in price. Not a good combination. The containers used to come packed with the meal and now there is plenty of room left. My favorite dish is Roast Pork in garlic sauce. It always can with nice large thin slices of pork, not it comes with little strips like in the lo-mein. I recently had chicken with garlic sauce and there was no spice and no flavor, also egg drop soup with no eggs, thin broth and no flavor. some things have improved, especially the beef sticks, but overall very disappointing. I haven't given up yet but i am close. I hope it changes soon.
