About Sun's Chinese Kitchen
Located at 90 Lowell St in Arlington, Massachusetts, 02474, USA, Sun's Chinese Kitchen is a local Chinese restaurant that has garnered positive feedback from its customers, particularly for its takeout service. As a Chinese Restaurant, Sun's Chinese Kitchen provides a variety of Chinese dishes, primarily catering to those seeking convenient takeout options. They can be contacted at (781) 648-3389 or via their mobile number +1 781-648-3389.
Based on recent customer reviews, Sun's Chinese Kitchen is a consistently reliable choice for takeout, with one regular customer stating that they order from there about once a month and find it to be "consistently good, sometimes great." This suggests a level of quality that customers can depend on for a satisfying meal. The consistency in quality is a significant draw for those looking for a dependable local Chinese takeout option.
The reviews also highlight some favorite dishes among Sun's clientele. The sesame noodles are particularly popular, described as being "mild-to-medium spicy." The reviewer provides a helpful tip for enjoying this dish to its fullest: taking the noodles out of the container and tossing them to evenly distribute the sauce, which tends to settle during transit. This indicates that while the dish is well-liked, a little extra effort upon receiving the takeout can enhance the experience.
Another standout dish mentioned is the ma po tofu. Sun's Chinese Kitchen prepares their ma po tofu with pork, which one reviewer noted is different from what they are typically accustomed to. Despite this variation, the dish is praised as "excellent," suggesting that Sun's rendition is flavorful and well-executed, even for those familiar with other versions. This willingness to offer a slightly different take on a classic dish while still maintaining high quality is a notable aspect of their cooking.
A significant strength of Sun's Chinese Kitchen appears to be their skill in cooking vegetables. According to one review, their cook does an "amazing job with vegetables," which are consistently "cooked flawlessly (perfectly crisp, never overdone)." This attention to detail in vegetable preparation is a distinguishing factor, as perfectly cooked vegetables can significantly enhance the overall quality and enjoyment of a Chinese meal. It suggests a high level of culinary skill and care in their kitchen.
Overall, one reviewer succinctly summarizes Sun's Chinese Kitchen as "definitely a good local Chinese place," indicating a positive general impression of the restaurant within the community.
However, not all feedback is uniformly positive. One reviewer mentioned that while the "good boneless spare ribs" were enjoyable, they experienced inconsistency with the rice. Specifically, they noted that ordering the same shrimp fried rice could result in a dish that "always tastes different." While they clarified that this wasn't always bad, they pointed out that "sometimes I wish I just ordered like 10 large rice then sometimes I have a spoon full and just pick the shrimp out." This suggests that the preparation of their fried rice might vary, affecting the overall flavor and the distribution of ingredients. Despite this inconsistency with the rice, the reviewer still found the food to be "inexpensive fast and tastes good," indicating that the positive aspects, such as price, speed of service, and general taste, often outweigh this variability in the rice.
Based on these reviews, the environment of Sun's Chinese Kitchen is not explicitly described. Given the focus on takeout in the customer feedback, it is likely that the restaurant prioritizes efficiency for takeout orders. There might be a counter area for placing and picking up orders, and possibly a small dining area for those who wish to eat on-site, but the emphasis seems to be on the convenience of taking food away.
The primary service highlighted is takeout, which is described as consistent and reliable. While delivery is not explicitly mentioned in these reviews, it is a common offering for many Chinese takeout restaurants, so it is possible that Sun's Chinese Kitchen also provides this service. The speed of service is noted as being "fast," which is a significant advantage for customers looking for a quick meal.
Key features of Sun's Chinese Kitchen include their consistently good food quality (sometimes even great), the popularity of specific dishes like the sesame noodles and ma po tofu (prepared with pork in their style), and the exceptional skill of their cook in preparing perfectly cooked vegetables. The affordability ("inexpensive") and speed of service are also notable features that contribute to its appeal as a local Chinese takeout spot. The inconsistency in the shrimp fried rice is a point to be aware of, but overall, the positive aspects seem to outweigh this drawback for many customers.
The provided information does not include any details about current or past promotional offers at Sun's Chinese Kitchen. It is common for local restaurants to have special deals or discounts, but there is no mention of such initiatives in the available reviews. Local users interested in potential promotions are advised to contact the restaurant directly or check local online ordering platforms for any advertised specials.
In conclusion, Sun's Chinese Kitchen in Arlington, MA, appears to be a reliable and well-regarded local Chinese restaurant, particularly for its takeout service. Customers appreciate the consistent quality of the food, with standout dishes like the sesame noodles and ma po tofu being favorites. The exceptional preparation of vegetables is a notable strength. While there might be some inconsistency with their fried rice, the overall impression is that the food is inexpensive, fast, and generally tastes good. For local users in Arlington looking for a dependable Chinese takeout option with some particularly well-executed dishes, Sun's Chinese Kitchen is definitely worth considering.

We order takeout from Sun's once a month or so. It's consistently good, sometimes great. Our favorite dishes are the sesame noodles (mild-to-medium spicy, be sure to take the noodles out of the container and toss them because the sauce settles in transit) and the ma po tofu (they do theirs with pork, which is not what I'm accustomed to, but it's excellent). Their cook also does an amazing job with vegetables, they are always cooked flawlessly (perfectly crisp, never overdone). Definitely a good local Chinese place.
Good boneless spare ribs. But the rice is always different.. I mean order the same shrimp fried rice but... um... it always tastes different.. that's not bad until it is.. sometimes I wish I just ordered like 10 large rice then sometimes I have a spoon full and just pick the shrimp out.. all in all food in inexpensive fast and tastes good.
I really enjoy the egg foo young, with the chicken wings, and barbaqued spare ribs. It's a good deal for $8.75, plus I always leave a tip. It happens to be C-1 on the menu! I actually reccomend all their food. It's always pleasent to go there, people are friendly.
They don't take allergies seriously. I called to be certain that they understood that my son has a shellfish allergy. They said they could handle it, and yet they added shrimp to one of the dishes that we ordered.Luckily I saw it. Total fail.
We placed an order online and were given a forty-minute estimate. An hour and a half later, we call and are told that because we didn't tip, the delivery boy left our food on the porch and left. We never tip on our card; we tip in cash in person once we have the correct order on time. Had he knocked and given us our food, he'd have had a tip. Fool. The real kicker is he left it on our neighbor's porch. It was cold, of course.
