About Sun Kwong Chinese Restaurant

Sun Kwong Chinese Restaurant, located at 373 S Belair Rd in Augusta, Georgia, falls under the category of Chinese Restaurants serving the local community. While specific details about the restaurant's ambiance or dine-in environment are not extensively described in the provided reviews, the feedback does offer insights into the food quality, service, and overall customer experience, primarily focusing on takeout orders.

One recurring theme in the customer reviews for Sun Kwong Chinese Restaurant is the mention of "huge portions." This suggests that the restaurant is generous in the quantity of food provided with their meals, which could be a positive aspect for customers looking for value in terms of the amount of food received. However, this is juxtaposed with significant concerns regarding the freshness and quality of the food itself.

Several comments point to issues with the freshness and preparation of various dishes. One reviewer noted that while the people were "really nice," the food was "not fresh." This customer specifically mentioned that the "base sauce for the sesame chicken was super tangy and chicken seemed reheated." Additionally, their experience with the sweet and sour chicken was negative, describing it as looking "like it was heated up from frozen...no 'crunch' to it, just sogginess." This indicates potential issues with the cooking methods and the use of fresh ingredients for these popular dishes. The same reviewer found the egg rolls to be "decent," providing a single point of slight positivity in their otherwise negative experience.

Another customer shared a deeply unsatisfactory first and, by their account, last experience with Sun Kwong Chinese Restaurant. This review details multiple problems, starting with an alleged discrepancy in change received and being charged for a dinner combo during lunch hours when a special was supposedly available. When addressing this issue, the customer was reportedly promised an additional dinner combo of wings that was not fulfilled. Furthermore, the second combo meal ordered was not what the customer expected, attributing this to a lack of understanding from the staff member taking the order. This breakdown in communication led to the customer receiving an unwanted dish.

Adding to these issues, the second reviewer also raised concerns about the quality of the food itself. They described the rice as tasting "so old" and the chicken wings as being "so salty." These comments further reinforce the concerns about food freshness and proper preparation raised by the first reviewer. The second customer's overall sentiment was one of being "cheated out of my money lied to and given something I did not order very unhappy and angry," highlighting significant service and food quality failures in their experience.

Based on these two detailed customer reviews, a pattern of concerns emerges regarding the food quality at Sun Kwong Chinese Restaurant. The issues of reheated chicken, soggy texture, overly tangy sauces, old-tasting rice, and excessively salty wings are significant drawbacks. While the "huge portions" might appeal to some, the apparent lack of freshness and proper preparation could outweigh this benefit for many potential customers.

Furthermore, the second review raises serious concerns about the service, including potential discrepancies with payment, failure to honor promises, and order inaccuracies due to communication issues. These service-related problems can severely impact the overall customer experience and erode trust in the establishment.

It is important to note that these reviews represent individual experiences and may not be representative of every customer's interaction with Sun Kwong Chinese Restaurant. However, the detailed nature of the complaints, particularly the consistency in concerns about food freshness and preparation, warrants consideration for potential local users.

Given the information available, it is challenging to highlight specific positive features or promotional information for Sun Kwong Chinese Restaurant. The prevailing themes in the recent feedback are centered around issues with food quality and service. Potential customers may want to weigh the reported large portion sizes against the concerns about freshness and preparation, as well as the reported service issues, before deciding to order from this establishment.

For local users in Augusta, GA, considering Sun Kwong Chinese Restaurant at 373 S Belair Rd, it would be prudent to be aware of the recent customer feedback. The reports of non-fresh food, poorly prepared dishes like the sesame and sweet and sour chicken, old rice, and salty wings, coupled with service concerns including order inaccuracies and payment issues, suggest that caution may be warranted. While the large portions might be appealing, the quality of the food and the reliability of the service appear to be significant areas of concern based on the provided reviews. Potential customers might want to consider these factors carefully before making a decision.

Really nice people and huge portions but the food was not fresh. The base sauce for the sesame chicken was super tangy and chicken seemed reheated. The sweet and sour chicken looks like it was heated up from frozen...no "crunch" to it, just sogginess. The egg rolls were decent. We dropped $50 for 3 dinner combo plates and 6 egg rolls and only ate the egg rolls.

My first time experience and the last. Were do I start first hand I notice I had been cheated out of my change also I paid for dinner when there was supposed to be a lunch special. When addressing the issue, I was told that a dinner combo of wings would be added that did not happen. The second combo I ordered was not what I ordered. The lady didn’t understand what I was saying and did not try to understand so I end up with something that I don’t want. Also to discover that the rice tasted so old and the chicken wings so salty. I’m not here too bass any family business but when people pay their money nothing but the best should be given. Morel of the story is, I’ve been cheated out of my money lied to and given something I did not order very unhappy and angry.

Got the meal for four -- probably could've fed eight! Almond chicken was 🤩 amazing, 'real' almond chicken, sesame chicken was lovely, crunchy, and full of seeds, shrimp was loaded into fried rice, and soup was neatly portioned into servings for everyone-- with extra crunchies as requested! Been going here for years and yet to be disappointed with flavor, portion sizes, or wait. Price is a tad higher than some others in the area but totally worth it. Highly recommend!

Visited on 2/26 and had the lunch wing combo. The ham fried rice was terrible. No veggies, eggs and 3 pieces of ham. The 4 wings and egg roll were okay. Got a large coke that consisted of 2 cans of coke, since a drink didn't come with the meal. I paid 14.15. This is not a place I'd visit again.

I love going here. Quality isn't always consistent but I dont think it's ever not worth the money. Seems to be run by a small family trying to make the American dream come true. Not a bad spot for sure if you live close by. Satisfied and happy to have this business as part of our community
