Starchiva Cuisine

We visited Starchiva Cuisine quite early, around 4 PM, to avoid the New Year’s Eve crowd. We opted for the set menu, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The flavors were light and well-balanced, perfect for the occasion. The standout dish was the Sautéed deep fried Lobster, which was absolutely delicious, while the Sweet and Sour Squirrel Fish was a hit with its tangy sweetness, especially loved by the kids! For dessert, the red bean soup was smooth and satisfying, though the frozen pre-cut cake was less appealing and only worth a small taste. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal, and I’d recommend it for a family gathering.

Not my favourite place.. their changfen sheet was hella thick and too little shrimps. Disappointing. Even congee queen has paper like thin and delicious changfens. And another funny thing is that there prices per dish for dimsums are more expensive than other popular dimsum places. I expected better quality and size. Dimsums had too little ingredients inside. But their Tendon was delicious and some other dishes too. Service was good but they added gratuity themselves… and we were only a group of 4.. not like 6or more ppl. Another disappointment.

We made our reservation a week ahead as it was near Chinese New Year. The restaurant was fully booked. We got our table right away when we arrived. The parking lot quite full so we parked behind the restaurant. We ordered the Lobster and Marinated Duck set $338 for 6 people. The soup was served first. It was a clear soup and still have a lot of flavor. Next was the fried Australian scallop and shrimp in XO sauce. This dish was a bit small. Each person got one scallop and one shrimp only. We got the signature marinated duck. This dish was a lot bigger. The duck was served with a lot of sauce. However, it was just warm and not hot. The meat was tender. The maggi style lobster was quite yummy and it was steaming hot. They already had broken the shell and we could pull out the meat easily. I liked the beef tenderloin with French mustard and honey sauce the most. The beef was quite soft. The pea bean sprouts with mixed mushrooms had 1-2 pieces of king trumpet mushrooms and some enoki mushrooms. Dessert was complimentary. Overall, the food quality was about average. The service was excellent. The servers changed our plates and refilled tea pots often. Ambiance was nice and there was ample of room between tables. Mandatory 12% gratuity was added to the bill.

We came on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and it was surprisingly not too busy. We did make resy in advance so we got seated quickly. Food was decent and the restaurant was clean and well lit. Service was a bit on the slower end. They have traditional dim sum dishes and a few fusion dishes. I preferred the former. We came as a group of 8 (6 adults and 2 children) and we ordered Steamed Pork and Shrimp Dumpling (Siu Mai), Baked Pineapple BBQ Pork Puff Pastry, Shrimp Dumplings (Har Gow), Steamed Beef Ball, Deep Fried Spicy Octopus Tentacles, Steamed Matcha Crispy Shrimp Rice Roll, Steamed Rice Roll with Pork, Taro & Chicken Spring Roll, Braised E-Fu Egg Noodle with Eggplant, Salted Fish & Minced Pork and Clam, Mustard Green & Salted Egg Congee. Food here is inexpensive and super filling. Note that our bill included gratuity so check yours as well. They have parking around the restaurant and also extra parking space on a separate lower level (not underground and uncovered).

Had an excellent dinner experience with friends at this restaurant. Amazing food and great service. Restaurant decor is very nice too. Had lobster, duck, fish, etc. Love it. Sweet and sour pork was excellent. Would definitely go back.
