About Star Wok
Star Wok, situated at 1428 Mainstreet in Hopkins, Minnesota, is categorized as a Chinese Restaurant offering its services to the local community. This establishment can be contacted at (952) 931-0603 or via their mobile number +1 952-931-0603 for inquiries or to place orders.
Based on recent online feedback from customers, it appears that experiences at Star Wok have been significantly negative for some patrons. One reviewer expressed extreme dissatisfaction, stating a desire to give zero stars and claiming that both they and their guest experienced food poisoning after eating at the restaurant. This review also highlighted concerns about the restaurant's cleanliness, the use of styrofoam for serving food, and the taste of the food, which was described as tasteless with a prominent flavor of burnt hot oil. The reviewer strongly suggested the restaurant needs to improve.
Another customer also shared a negative experience, expressing surprise at the poor quality of the Chinese food. They described the fried rice as resembling plain brown rice lacking in ingredients and advised against paying extra for it. The cheese puffs were reported to have no flavor other than the taste of frying oil. The egg foo young was described unfavorably, and while the sesame sauce was deemed "OK," the chow mein and other items lacked significant flavor. This reviewer also noted that the portions were small and relatively expensive, with the only positive being that the food was filling. They felt the existing online rating was overly generous.
Considering these two available reviews, there are serious concerns raised about the food quality, hygiene, and overall dining experience at Star Wok in Hopkins. The allegation of food poisoning is particularly severe and should be a significant consideration for potential customers. The feedback regarding tasteless food, excessive oiliness, and poor preparation of common dishes like fried rice and egg foo young suggests potential issues in the kitchen.
The mention of serving food on styrofoam might be a concern for environmentally conscious customers or those who prefer more traditional serving ware for dine-in meals. The observation of the restaurant appearing "filthy" raises significant red flags about the hygiene standards of the establishment, which is a critical aspect of any food service business.
As a Chinese restaurant, Star Wok would typically be expected to offer a range of classic dishes, including fried rice, various noodle dishes (like chow mein), egg foo young, and a selection of meat and vegetable entrees with different sauces. The negative reviews, however, indicate that the preparation and taste of these standard items may be subpar at this location. The description of small and relatively expensive portions further detracts from the perceived value.
Information about the environment and services beyond the food and cleanliness is limited in these reviews. The fact that customers have dined in suggests that the restaurant has a physical space for eating on-site. However, the description of the restaurant appearing filthy does not paint a positive picture of the dining environment. It can be inferred that takeout service is also likely available, given that people have consumed food from this establishment elsewhere.
No information regarding any special features or promotional offers at Star Wok is mentioned in the provided reviews. It is common for restaurants to have lunch specials, combination deals, or other promotions to attract customers. However, based on the strongly negative feedback concerning the food quality and hygiene, any potential promotions might not outweigh these significant drawbacks for prospective diners.
In conclusion, the available customer reviews for Star Wok in Hopkins, MN, present a very concerning picture. Allegations of food poisoning, descriptions of tasteless and poorly prepared food, concerns about cleanliness, and the use of styrofoam serving ware are serious issues that potential local users should be aware of. The negative feedback spans multiple aspects of the dining experience, from food quality to the environment. Given the severity of these reviews, individuals considering dining at or ordering from Star Wok should proceed with extreme caution and perhaps consider alternative Chinese restaurants in the Hopkins area with more positive and reliable feedback. The lack of any positive comments or mentions of appealing features or promotions further underscores the negative sentiment expressed by these reviewers.

I wish they had an option to give 0 stars. My guest and I got food poisoning from eating at this place. They serve your food on styrofoams. The restaurant appeared filthy. The food was taste less. The only thing we tasted was the burnt hot oil. They need to do better.
Like breakfast, I didn't think you could screw up Chinese food. Our experience with their food proved me wrong. The fried rice is more like brown rice with nothing to it (do not pay extra for it). The cheese puffs have zero flavor, except for the oil from the fry. The egg foo young looked like.....and it was not good. The sesame sauce was OK, but not much flavor elsewhere...same with the chow mein. The portions were small and relatively expensive, but it filled us, and that is about all I can say. The 3.9 stars are generous.
Why not 5 stars? - The staff likes to argue so it’s best not to dine in. - They are pretty good at answering the phone and taking your order. - I tend to only order what I know will be good, such as their Dragon 🐉 and Phoenix is my favorite meal in this establishment. - This isn’t traditional/authentic Chinese food, so don’t expect that, it’s just like chipotle not being traditional/authentic Mexican food. - The food my wife and I order has a good balance of veggies and meat most of the time and stays hot. - I would recommend the Dragon and Phoenix extra spicy 🌶️, it’s really not that spicy 🌶️, but add the punch I enjoy in meals.
If I can give this service a 0 I would and it’s all because of the woman that works there. She is EXTREMELY rude. I do not like talking to her. They need to get someone else to work at the front because she will make them lose business. Their beef fried rice is okay and the food is ok but I’ve had better
Food is usually great and service is fast!
