Spotted Horse Tavern Shelton, Ct.

I don’t know why I haven’t eaten here earlier. Maybe because not all of the lights in the sign worked, so it had me concerned about the inside. I finally bit the bullet after realizing they have a Westport spot too (and we typically enjoy of dining choices in Westport). My wife loved the Dragon Bowl with Crispy Chicken, and I enjoyed the Rueben Meets Rachel (I didn’t want to just get a burger). Where the world has gotten used to $15 chicken sandwiches with no fries, it was nice to see that their sandwiches included sides. I left full, and nowadays that isn’t always the case in this economy. I would definitely come again.

The food was delicious and the service was great! Ordered the nacho special as an appetizer and the toppings were very generous. Food came out quick. I got the street corn blackened tacos, which were delicious, but not what I was expecting. Street corn usually consists of creamy mayo sauce and topped with chili powder, cheese and lime, while these were just corn salsa. My boyfriend enjoyed his steak frites. I really loved their dessert options and the s’mores lava cake was INCREDIBLE. Definently recommend.

I think this may have been my best meal in Connecticut, having been here on/off for the last 26 years. Expertly prepared, seasoned. Efficient and quick order fulfillment. Warm and inviting ambience. They have live music and a Dj some nights. A few more vegan options would be nice, but everything on the menu looked great, and everything we ordered tasted great. Highly recommend. 7-4-23 I had a good experience at the Spotted Horse Tavern in Shelton, CT. We were promptly seated and Mike tended to us quickly. The location has a simple yet aesthetically pleasing environment. Good music played at a reasonable level for patrons to enjoy it while conversing. We were comfortable. The food came out promptly and was tasteful. These were the best Sweet Potato Fries I have ever tasted! Perfectly hot, crispy and crunchy. They were side to a pair of Lobster Rolls which were fine. I recommend this location for an enjoyable meal.

I came to this restaurant when it first opened and I wasn’t obsessed. After visiting again after a few years I was extremely impressed. What a delicious eatery and lively bar. I highly recommend their shrimp bowl ( I’m not sure about the name) but it was delicious! Also the fresh pretzels and cheese were wonderful. I highly recommend this eatery as it has become one of my favorites in the area.
