One recent review highlighted a visit to another Sichuan restaurant in Irvine, Yun Chuan Yuan, praising their affordable prices and delicious dishes such as Twice-Cooked Pork, Shredded Pork with Sweet Bean Sauce, Cold Skin Noodles, and Dry-Fried Green Beans. The reviewer specifically commended the flavorful and well-prepared nature of these classic Sichuan dishes, along with the attentive service and pleasant atmosphere.

In contrast, another customer shared their experience at Spicy City, noting that while they found the black fungus dish to be great, the cold dish of pork neck and gizzard could have used more chili and flavor. They also mentioned that the fried intestine was prepared with a batter, resulting in a greasier and heavier dish than expected. The orange chicken was described as satisfactory.

Today, I visited Yun Chuan Yuan, an affordable Sichuan restaurant in Irvine, and I was absolutely amazed! Every dish was so delicious that I can't help but rave about each one. Here's my detailed review! 👇 🌟 Twice-Cooked Pork: The perfectly balanced fatty and lean pork is stir-fried to perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a rich savory sauce! The green peppers and garlic sprouts are also super flavorful. One bite and I was in heaven! 🌟 Shredded Pork with Sweet Bean Sauce: The pork strips are tender, and the sauce is rich and flavorful, with the perfect balance of salty and sweet! Wrapped in thin pancakes with scallions and cucumber strips, the layers of texture are amazing, and it's not greasy at all. Absolutely fantastic! 🌟 Cold Skin Noodles: The noodles are chewy and smooth, with a spicy oil that's fragrant but not overwhelming, and the vinegar is just the right amount of tangy! Paired with cucumber strips and bean sprouts, it's refreshing and appetizing, perfect for summer! 🌟 Dry-Fried Green Beans: The green beans are slightly crispy on the outside but still tender inside, with a rich, dry aroma! The minced meat and chili peppers add a wonderful fragrance, making it super satisfying with rice! Overall, Yun Chuan Yuan is a highly cost-effective Sichuan restaurant, and every dish kept me coming back for more! Highly recommended for all Sichuan cuisine lovers! 💯 #IrvineFood #SichuanCuisine #YunChuanYuan #FoodieAdventures #AffordableEats

The service was really nice. The servers are amazing! The atmosphere was also really nice too. So, I didn't know that spicy city was a chain. But, the one in SD is a lot better. We ordered cold dish of pork neck, gizzard and black fungus. Pork neck and gizzard could use more chili and flavor. Black fungus was great! Then we got fried intestine. I didn't realize that they had batter. I never had it fried with batter before so this feels much greasy and heavier. The last thing was orange chicken. That was fine. It's just orange chicken.

Accidentally found this place due to another place having a long wait nearby. No wait here so was a little skeptical. Glad we found it. This is a SzeChuan/YunNan regional style. Famous for spicy food and its noodles (云南过桥米线)as well. The food was authentic and had big portions. We got served free hot tea but were charged for a bowl of rice. Service was fast, food was on the table in less than 10 minutes. Ordered: 1. Garlic pea leaves (蒜炒豆苗)- highly recommended for a vegetable dish. 2. Shredded pork with garlic sauce (鱼香肉丝)- a safe choice , was ok, a little too sweet, but good portion. 3. Boiled fish with tofu (清蒸豆花鱼)- the least favorite. The fish didn’t feel fresh and lack some flavor. I would go with the hot sauce one next time. Overall was not bad, felt we ordered the wrong food for this restaurant, so will return to try other dishes on the menu.

Extremely good Chinese food. Family style and their portion is big. My favorite is the Mapo Tofu… so yummy but I need to adjust the spiciness to mild 😬 The service is very fast and friendly. Highly recommended!

We had chicken fried rice and hot sour noodle soup. I love the way they packed the noodle soup. Pretty good food overall. Edit: the noodle soup is lip smacking good 😋😋
