About Spicy Basil

Searching for a Chinese restaurant in Singapore? Please note that Spicy Basil is located at 3299 S Broadway, Englewood, CO 80113, USA, and appears to offer a mix of Asian cuisines, including Thai dishes like spicy basil chicken and tropical fried rice. While not exclusively a Chinese restaurant, understanding the recent experiences of customers in its local area, particularly regarding their delivery service, might be helpful when evaluating local options in Singapore.

Spicy Basil's delivery service has received contrasting feedback from customers. Here's a summary of their experiences:

Positive Delivery Experience: One customer who ordered through Uber Eats enjoyed the massive portions and great flavors of their tropical fried rice with chicken and shrimp, spicy basil chicken, steamed broccoli, and gyoza. They found it to be a perfect and satisfying meal and would order again.

However, another customer had a significantly negative experience with a delivery order of sesame chicken:

Poor Quality Sesame Chicken: The chicken was described as both overcooked and soggy, with a disgusting texture and an excessive amount of sauce.

Lack of Vegetables: The portion of vegetables (only four pieces of broccoli) was deemed pathetic compared to the advertised photo showing a generous amount.

Significant Disappointment: This customer felt it was a complete waste of money and stated they would not order from Spicy Basil again, even providing photographic evidence of the discrepancy between the received order and the advertisement.

Given these very different recent experiences, it's challenging to form a definitive overall picture of Spicy Basil's delivery service and food quality. While one customer enjoyed their meal and the generous portions, another was extremely disappointed with the quality of a specific dish and the misleading advertising regarding vegetable portions.

When choosing a Chinese or other Asian delivery service in Singapore, it's advisable to look for restaurants with consistently positive and recent reviews, paying attention to comments about food quality, portion sizes, and the accuracy of orders compared to descriptions or photos. Consider trying out a few different local options to find one that meets your expectations for a reliable and enjoyable meal.

We ordered from Spicy Basil through Uber Eats, so I can't speak to the dining in experience, but my girlfriend and I really enjoyed the massive portions and the great flavors of our food. We got the tropical fried rice with chicken and shrimp, the spicy basil chicken, steamed broccoli, and gyoza. After a long day of driving in the snow, this was the perfect dinner for us. Would definitely order from here again.

I ordered the sesame chicken plate from Spicy Basil, and I am beyond disappointed. The chicken was somehow both overcooked and soggy at the same time—so soggy it was falling apart. The texture was disgusting, and it was drowning in an excessive amount of sauce. On top of that, the portion of vegetables was pathetic. My order came with only four pieces of broccoli, while the photo they use to advertise the dish shows a generous amount. I’ve attached pictures of what I received versus what they advertise, and the difference is laughable. (I separated the chicken into another bowl to show the lack of veggies.) This was a complete waste of money, and I won’t be ordering from here again.

I was craving Chinese food, good Chinese food and this place was awesome! The service was lovely (thank you Yuan), the sweet and sour chicken was some of the best I've ever had and the veggies with it were fresh and well prepared, the Vietnamese coffee was not rushed and it was oh so good. I'd definitely come back and try more dishes. The price point is impossibly incredible too. What a lunch! Thank you!!!

Sadly the absolute worst Chinese take out I’ve ever ordered. Super bland and overpriced. I’m pretty forgiving with Chinese take out places but EVERYTHING was terrible so this will be our first and last time trying Spicy Basil. Mango chicken: bland mix of soft wet chicken, mushrooms, giant chunks of green pepper, and pieces of mango. Cream cheese wontons (aka crab Rangoon): somehow also bland, soft and chewy while still being hard on the edges. Weird. Chicken coconut soup (aka Tom kha): very bland like half the ingredients were missing, no hint of galangal, fish sauce, lemongrass, or lime, but some weird added spice that doesn’t belong, maybe cinnamon? Disgusting. Fried rice: seemed like they ran out of fried rice and just added a few peas and an egg to some white rice. Egg rolls: overcooked, borderline burnt, and weird flavor. Spicy edamame: the garlic/spice is good but it was dry almost like it was reheated or just a bag of frozen edamame microwaved then tossed in spices. At least it wasn’t bland like everything else.

Friends and I were in the mood for Chinese food so we came here and it's very delicious! The portion size is huge and able to split it into 2-3 days. I got the shrimp and fried rice. I loved it, but I wish there were some more shrimp since protein is important to have. I'll be back for sure, I just wish there were nurtition information available.
