Food was delicious, service took a bit to get our order in but they didn't disappoint. Ended up getting a frozen drink and instead of shorting us the leftover waiter brought and additional little glass, drinks were tasty. The chicken Manchuria is on point and those chicken dumplings were yummy. The best was the garlic Naan, made the meal delicious.

Called for a combo takeout, they take the order and tell me 20 mins. When I showed up I realized that it didn’t come with salad like the online menu specified… when I asked about it he tells me that for call in orders it doesn’t come with everything written on the menu… and then he proceeds to say that they don’t even do combos for take out orders. I’m confused, if you don’t normally do combos for takeout orders why’d you take the order over the phone without saying something? You didn’t have a problem taking my money for an incomplete order so why not give me what I paid for? Horrible customer service. Cherry on the cake was getting home and actually eating my food. I paid $22 for FOUR shrimp, LOADS of rice & sauce and one naan. Never again!

This place is nothing like it was when it first opened. I think this restaurant changed ownership because it used to be called Spice Route now it's called Spice Kitchen. I urge customers to stay away, there are much better options in driving distance if you're in the mood for Indian food. Here was my recent experience: tap water did not taste good, when finally given a cloth napkin and cutlery the napkin smelled like mold and the knife/fork are a step above plastic, beverage was flat, almost 45 minutes to get food only to find not one, not two but three hairs/strings in the butter chicken and was told it was some spice called mace. It was clearly hair or some kind of string or both. The shrimp tandoori was so overcooked that it took more effort than usual to stick them with the fork. While we were there an Indian family walked in and walked out within 5 minutes of being there. So, in a nutshell, find some other place to eat until this restaurant hopefully fixes itself. It gives me no pleasure to write this review, but customers should be aware and hopefully the restaurant takes steps to improve. On the positive side, the staff were friendly.

We walked into this restaurant and were first struck by how delicious it smelled. The ambiance was lovely. The gentlemen helping us were very nice. The food was incredible. Everything we ordered was really really good. We weren’t even very hungry to start with because we had accidentally gone to the wrong restaurant with a similar name first. None of our party was satisfied with the first place and after realizing our mistake, decided to head over to this place which was our intended destination all along. My 6 year old nephew said it best: “Winner winner second dinner” We ordered the exact same items and without even having hunger to elevate the experience, every single dish was better. The overall taste. The spice level. The rice flavor and texture. Even the water was better. I live in SC, but I will come back to Kalahari just so I can visit this place again. I had the garlic naan, drums of heaven, basmati rice, tadka Dal and a virgin mango daiquiri. 👌🏻

I've eaten here several times and have always had a good experience. I highly recommend the Sunday buffet. But tonight I was a tad disappointed. The chicken momos were great. They're a dumpling cooked in a tandoori oven. I'd definitely get those next time. I ordered Paneer Lababdar which I thought I had tried before but when it came out, it had a bunch of chunky green peppers in it which wasn't in the menu description. I don't like green peppers, I wouldn't have ordered that dish if I'd known. I thought maybe I'd received the wrong dish. They kindly offered to bring me something else but I'm not one to waste food. I picked out the peppers and ate some but I wouldn't order that dish again, it's not for me. Love their raita. Lastly, I ordered a mango lassi to go. I was handed a bottle and charged $6.
