Based on recent customer feedback, this restaurant stands out for its flavorful offerings, use of fresh ingredients, generous portions, and reasonable pricing, making it a hidden gem within a local small plaza.

One of the signature dishes that has garnered high praise is the Hainan Chicken Rice. According to a recent review, Special Noodle Soup serves what is considered "one of the best" renditions of this classic Southeast Asian dish in the entire Bay Area. This accolade speaks volumes about the quality and authenticity of their preparation. The reviewer specifically highlighted that both the chicken and the chicken rice are exceptionally flavorful, indicating a meticulous approach to seasoning and cooking. The emphasis on flavor suggests that the chefs at Special Noodle Soup are dedicated to bringing out the true essence of the ingredients used.

Further reinforcing the quality of their food is the observation that the ingredients taste fresh. This is a crucial aspect of any reputable restaurant, as fresh ingredients contribute significantly to the overall taste and appeal of the dishes. The reviewer also noted that the food is "prepared carefully with heart," suggesting a level of dedication and passion in the cooking process that goes beyond mere routine. This attention to detail likely translates into the exceptional flavors and high quality that customers have experienced.

In addition to the quality of the food, Special Noodle Soup also scores high on value. The reviewer mentioned that the food is of "high quality" and yet priced "very reasonable" considering the "large portion" sizes. This combination of quality and affordability is a significant draw for customers, as it provides a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience without straining the budget. The generous portions further enhance the value proposition, ensuring that diners leave feeling truly satisfied.

Beyond their acclaimed Hainan Chicken Rice, Special Noodle Soup also offers a unique feature that allows customers to customize their dining experience. As noted in a review from November 23, 2024, patrons have the option to "build your own soup" or choose from a "chef combo." This flexibility caters to individual preferences and dietary needs, allowing diners to create a soup that perfectly suits their taste. For those who prefer the chef's expertise, the combo options provide curated selections of flavorful ingredients.

The same review also highlighted their Tom Yum soup, describing it as "similar to Thai" and "very tasty." Recommended by RedNote. Very authentic and definitely one of the my best Hainan Chicken rice in Bay Area. The chicken and chicken rice are both very flavorful. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and food is prepared carefully with heart. The food is in high quality and the price is very reasonable with its large portion. I’m surprised that such a fantastic restaurant is hidden in a small plaza. Will definitely come back again.

4.0Stars Special Noodle Soup We were pleasantly surprised to find Hainan cuisine here. Hainan is a coastal province in southern China, renowned for its uniquely flavored local chicken, although it's not typically known for noodle soup. The chicken used in the dishes here isn't from Hainan, so it lacks the authentic signature flavor. However, it still stands well on its own. The Fried Oyster Flipping was a delightful surprise, with a fresh, distinct oyster flavor that truly stood out as a highlight of the meal. The Braised Beef Stows & Beef Tendons were another standout—tender, fresh, and delicious. On the other hand, the Duck Over Rice was a bit underwhelming, lacking in flavor. Overall, the experience was good and pleasant. The pricing is affordable and reasonable, making this restaurant a solid choice for anyone looking to explore Hainan cuisine.

I went to Special Noodles with my sister because I was not familiar with this hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Cupertino. It's kind of hidden away from plain view. Once we got inside, the food aroma welcomed us. We followed the instructions on the menu and ordered some Special Noodles. They are so delicious. My sister had too much food, she took leftover home for another meal.

4.5/5 but we round up. Damn good Hainan chicken rice and extremely fast service. I was in and out of there within 25 minutes. The plate was put together so thoughtfully. Great use of pickled ginger, cucumbers and wood ear mushroom to balance out the heavier chicken and rice. The chicken was also made wonderfully. It tasted great and the meat was soft. The rice was a bit different from what I was expecting but the chicken flavour did shine through. All in all, I didn't expect to be able to find good Hainan chicken rice in the south bay, so I was pretty blown away. This is the flavour of nostalgia and your childhood. The dish itself is not super mind blowing, but it's tasty, cheap and quick.
